Quick Guide to Setting up 861
1. Install the software with the setup discs.
2. Run the program from the Start menu.
3. Select a Serial Port: View/Options.
4. Connect the RS232 Cable.
5. Open a file for the Type which
corresponds most closely to the system:
File/Open.
6. Save As your customer’s name:
File/Save As. This is now the customer’s
file that you can keep for reference.
7. Go to 861 Surround Controller/Current
Settings. Customise the settings to
match the customer’s system:
a) Speakers (Layout Only)
b) Sources
c) and Setup
8. Store the settings to the product
File/Store to Products/Current Settings
9. Calibrate the speakers with the 861’s
Calibration program.
10. Listen to the system and store any
Presets required for the customer.
11. Load the calibrated settings back to the
computer: File/Fetch from Products.
12. Return to Surround Controller 1.
13. Click Once on Current Settings.
14. Press Copy as a new user type.
15. Click on the new User Type.
16. Give this type the Customer’s name.
17. Click on Owner and type in the
customer and other details.
18. Save the calibrated settings: File/Save
19. Store the new Type: File/Store to
Products/All three.

Your calibrated settings are now permanently stored in the product, and the
customer can always get back to them using Type. You also have the settings
stored on the computer for future reference.
