Introduction
These articles explain how to use weConnect as a participant or student in a lecture. You can learn
how to log into the user interface and make use of the interactivity features. Finally, you will learn
how to share content to the available displays in the classroom.
You can use weConnect with your own phone, tablet or laptop (Bring Your Own Device or BYOD)
running Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android, iOS and Chrome OS.
To share content weConnect uses an application called MirrorOP. weConnect has MirrorOP licenses
on board so as a user you don’t need to pay for the use of the MirrorOP applications. Alternatively,
if the local network supports it, you can use Chromecast or Airplay to share content on weConnect
displays as well.
If your institute has enabled it, you might also be able to share your screen or applications directly
from the web interface using webRTC. This is an optional feature in weConnect which might not
have been enabled.
For the best user experience, we suggest using a laptop running Windows or Mac OS.
How to log in to the application [KB7791]
You need a fully compliant HTML5 web browser to access the weConnect features. We only
support the Google Chrome browser at this time. Please install the browser if you don’t have it
already on your device. This browser is available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS
devices.
Find the application
Your institute will provide you with a link to connect to the system. Open this link (1) into the
Chrome browser to see the login page.
You will see this or a similar login screen.

Log in with the single sign-on feature
If your institute has enabled single sign-on you will have to press Barco Employee or myBarco
Login (2) to access the application.
A window may pop up asking you to log in with your institute credentials.
The image above shows an example of a single sign-on pop-up.
This pop up should always indicate a secure connection in the top left corner of the window.
If you are using a device where another student logged in previously, you can select NOT YOU? to
go back to the initial login dialog.
If you do not have an institute account or if single sign-on is not enabled
Maybe you are a guest and have no account yet in the system. If the institute has made
alternative logins available you will be able to select weConnect Guest Login (3).

If you forgot your password
Select FORGOT PASSWORD? and enter your e-mail address which you need to recover your
password.
Enter your e-mail address used to access weConnect and press the SUBMIT button.
Check your inbox and follow the instructions in the e-mail.You need to give a valid e-mail address
in order to be able to verify your account.Depending on the choices your institute has made, a
couple of things can happen after account creation.
You can get immediate access to the system, and then you will see the next screen.
Log in with a different account or create an account. There are two possibilities: Already have an
account or Create an Account. During the creation of new account, please provide information for
the following fields:
- First Name
- Last Name
- E-mail address
- Password

Click on Agree to the Terms of Service& Privacy Policy
If you have received account details then fill in the e-mail address and password and press the
LOGIN button to access the weConnect application.
Institutes can enable or disable this feature; it might not always be available.
If you cannot create an account yourself, then you will have to ask your administrator to create
one for you.
The User initials are visible in the top right corner. Moreover, the Teacher that started a session is
visible on the top left corner.
Alternatively, the system administrator may want to verify whether you have entered a correct e-
mail address or use an allowed e-mail domain. You will then have to check your inbox to press

on a verification link. From that moment onward you will get access to the system.
Some administrators want to manually verify your account before giving you access. Please
contact your administrator to verify whether your account has been activated in that case.
How to leave the lecture or log out [KB7792]
Select the avatar button (with your initials) at the top right of the window and select Home.
Teacher/Host:
- Stop or Edit the Ongoing Session (this can affect the entire session, students being still logged
will be logged out.
- Logout
From the student interface by pressing the Avatar:
To leave a session select Logout.

How to join a lecture [KB7808]
You can join a lecture after logging in and by selecting one of the lectures presented in the active
sessions tab
There is a lecture planned in the future which you will be able to join. All planned lectures with an
actual starting time larger than 15min from the actual time, will be visible in the ACTIVE Session
tab. Therefore, there is not a possibility to join a lecture planned too far in advance.

When a lecture has not been started by the lecturer and the lecture is within 15min before the
start, a student will be able to enter the ' Classroom', by selecting the planned lecture. A video or
wallpaper will be circulating until the lecture has been started. That is the only available section
for the student before the start.
Main screen overview [KB7809]
Successfully joining a lecture will give you the following screen.

On the left side, you can choose which information source you want to see. For most lectures,
this will be at least the digital whiteboard and the teacher content, typically what is shown on the
main classroom display. For Virtual Classroom sessions, several camera sources may be offered
so you have a better awareness of what happens remotely.
In the center of the application, you see the selected content.
User interface buttons:
Make the browser application full screen, this maximizes the center view. After this, you can
make the central content view even bigger by zooming the browser pressing the control (CTRL)
and plus or minus buttons on your keyboard.
Download snapshot , by executing this action a snapshot is created containing the content
presented in the Teacher's Display.
If this is available then you can share your own device's display with the class. In case you
experience issues with webRTC share content, you may have to install the weConnect webRTC
plugin for Chrome before you can share for the first time. The teacher can control what is shown
on the main screen
Shows you how many attend the lecture, click on this to see the list of participants in this session.
On the right side of the UI is the timeline, this shows all classroom messages and silent
questions. This is also the spot where you can answer quiz and poll questions.

Students can actively contribute during the active lectures. They can raise a question: tap on the

How to ask silent questions or send a classroom message

the live session. Moreover, there is a timer by default 10 seconds that serves as an indication for
a student how long the hand virtually is raised.

In order to send a classroom message, enter your remark in the text box and hit the Send a
message icon to send it.
Lecturers can also see and react to the classroom message timeline.
The silent questions feature allows you to ask a question to the lecturer without the need to raise
your hand. Your fellow participants in the lecture will be able to read your question and indicate
if they like it. Lecturers automatically get the most liked questions in a list in their user interface.
They can answer the question at any time or keep it as feedback to improve the lecture in the
future.
Click the Ask the Host to ask your silent question and enter your question in the text box. Hit the
enter key or the question mark balloon again to post your question. There is also a possibility this
question to be anonymous when sending to broader audience.
You can easily spot the difference between a message and a silent question:

If you think a silent question is something you feel should be answered, then hit the thumbs up
icon to like the question. This will make the question more prominently presented to the lecturer.
If your question has been answered and the teacher has not checked off the question you can hit
the dustbin icon to delete the question.
How to answer a quiz or poll [KB7811]
When a lecturer starts a quiz or poll by selecting (1). Student/Participant will see the timeline be
replaced with the quiz and poll input dialog. Time can be adjusted from the teacher's interface
(5). There are 3 different types of Polls such as: Double (2) , Multiple Choice (3) and Open
Questions (4).
Host has launched Multiple choice poll (3). The student has 30 sec (by default) to provide an
answer. If all participants answered the question, a Host can stop the poll, or extent the time in
case it is needed.
For every quiz or poll, you get a limited time to answer, you can see how many seconds you have
left underneath the answer options.

When you have answered, you get a confirmation.
When the poll has ended, the teacher can decide to show the correct answer and how the
complete group has answered. 2 examples below:
For open answer quizzes and polls, you can type your answer in the answer box. Some questions
only allow a minimal amount of characters. You can see how many characters you have left
underneath the text input. After timer is passed, no more actions are possible to be done.

How to interact and collaborate with the whiteboard

A lecturer can enable two functions which give participants the option to interact and collaborate
together
Set your pin
When enabled by Teacher/Host a Student will see a pin appearing on top of the whiteboard,
which you can position freely. You will also see where other participants position their pin. This
creates a dynamic heat map of opinions of people in the session.
Collaborative drawing
You will see the basic whiteboard controls appearing on the whiteboard. You will be able to draw
on the whiteboard to give feedback to the teacher or to perform a task set by the lecturer.

- change the color of the pen, erase content function, delete the entire whiteboard.

How to share content from your screen [KB7795]
The most consistent experience weConnect can offer across many different types of devices is
through MirrorOP apps. On Mac OS and iOS, the weConnect system also supports Airplay
mirroring.
Remark: Airplay video streaming is now supported. Sharing a YouTube video requires you to
mirror your Airplay device first and then play YouTube videos in a Chrome browser instead of the
YouTube application.
For the best experience we recommend to use laptops in the lecture URL as well as for sharing
content, however, BYOD devices may be used subject to limitations outlined below.

Below you can find more information on how to use the MirrorOP software from various devices

indication of the best tool to use when sharing content.

When this feature has been enabled by the institute an additional share button will appear on the
top of the user interface
Starting a sharing session will require to install a Chrome plugin where a dialog box will indicate
how to download and install the plugin from the Chrome store.
