SlopeSafety
Operatethemachineupanddownslopeswith
theheavyendofthemachineuphill.Weight
distributionchangeswithattachments.This
attachmentmakesthefrontofmachinetheheavy
end.
Keeptheattachmentintheloweredposition
withtheloaderarmsretractedwhenonslopes.
Raisingtheattachmentorextendingtheloader
armsonaslopeaffectsthestabilityofthemachine.
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtolossofcontrol
andtip-overaccidents,whichcanresultinsevere
injuryordeath.Operatingthemachineonany
slopeoruneventerrainrequiresextracaution.
Establishyourownproceduresandrulesfor
operatingonslopes.Theseproceduresmust
includesurveyingthesitetodeterminewhich
slopesaresafeformachineoperation.Always
usecommonsenseandgoodjudgmentwhen
performingthissurvey.
Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Ground
conditionscanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.
Avoidstartingorstoppingonaslope.Ifthe
machinelosestraction,proceedslowly,straight
downtheslope.
Avoidturningonslopes.Ifyoumustturn,turn
slowlyandkeeptheheavyendofthemachine
uphill.

Important:Beforeinstallingtheattachment,
positionthemachineonalevelsurface,ensure
thatthemountplatesarefreeofanydirtordebris,
andensurethatthepinsrotatefreely.Ifthepins
donotrotatefreely,greasethem.
Note:Alwaysusethetractionunittoliftandmove

WARNING
Ifyoudonotfullyseatthequick-attach
pinsthroughtheattachmentmountplate,
theattachmentcouldfalloffthemachine,

chainsothattherearofthebrushcuttercannot
beliftedhigherthan30cm(12inches)above
theground.
Important:Adjustbothchainstothesame
length.

retainerplate(Figure4).

Toreversethedirectionthatthebladesrotate,
reversetheowofhydraulics.
EngagethehydraulicswiththethrottleatLOW
IDLE.Whenthebladesrotatesmoothly,increase
thethrottletoHIGHIDLE.
Important:Donotcutmaterialuntiltheblades
rotatesmoothly.
Ifthebladesslowunderload,decreasethetraction
speedorcutlessmaterialtomaintainbladespeed.
Forcuttingtallgrassandheavyvegetation,raise
thefrontskidplates2.5to5cm(1to2inches)
andthebackofthecuttingdeck5to8cm(2to3
inches)abovethegroundtoallowmaterialtoexit
thecuttingdeckmoreeasily.
WARNING
Tiltingthebrushcutteratanexcessive
increasestheriskofdebristhrownatyou
orbystanders.
Donottiltthebrushcutterhigherthan
recommended.
Forcuttinglargebrushandsmalltreeswitha
diameterupto7.6cm(3inches),lowertheback
ofthecuttingdecktoornearthegroundandraise
thefrontto30to61cm(12to24inches)above
theground.Driveslowly.
Youcanusetheattachmenttobendoversmall
trees.Thebladeswillcutthetreeasitbends
thetreeover.
Tomulchthetree,raisethefrontandlowerthe
backofthecuttingunit,thendriveforwardover
thetree.T omulchfurther,lowerthefrontofthe
cuttingunittothegroundandbackupoverthe
tree.Repeatasnecessary.

AcompanyinvolvedinaProp65lawsuitreachingasettlementmayberequiredtouseProp65warningsforitsproducts,butothercompanies
makingsimilarproductsmayhavenosuchrequirement.
TheenforcementofProp65isinconsistent.
CompaniesmayelectnottoprovidewarningsbecausetheyconcludethattheyarenotrequiredtodosounderProp65;alackofwarningsfora
productdoesnotmeanthattheproductisfreeoflistedchemicalsatsimilarlevels.
WhydoesToroincludethiswarning?
Torohaschosentoprovideconsumerswithasmuchinformationaspossiblesothattheycanmakeinformeddecisionsabouttheproductstheybuyand
