CHAPTER 1 – DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The DTU Basic allows remote control of an EAP/EDP tool, accepted tightening batch count and verification of a part
through the Input/Output connectors.
1.1. Mains supply
The device works continuously from 100VAC to 250VAC, 50/60Hz. This allows connecting EAP/EDP tools working
under 115VAC or 230VAC, take care that the mains voltage is adapted to the tool voltage.
Although the peak power can reach 2kW during the final speed phase, it is recommended to adjust the power circuits
according to the maximum average power.
The average power input depends on the tool type, the assembly type and the tightening rate. However, for heat dissipation
reasons, the maximum average power can not exceed 0.3kW.
1.2. Features
- IP40
- Using temperature 0 – 45°C

8 In cycle At high level, indicates that the tool is performing a tightening operation.
7 Reverse At high level, indicates that the operator is performing a loosening operation. The
loosening torque exceeded the measuring tool torque threshold (15% of target
torque).
6 Maintenance alarm At high level, indicates that the cycle counter has exceeded the maintenance cycle
threshold (250 000 cycles by default). Record a maintenance operation to reset the
signal.
5 Ready At high level, indicates that the tool and the DTU are ready to work. As soon as a
locking situation appears, "Ready" returns to zero.
4 Batch count OK At high level, indicates that the operator performed a batch of N correct tightening
operations. The number “N” of tightening operations is programmable using the
PDA.
3 Yellow NOK report At high level, indicates that the tool's yellow report rejected light is on (see
Operator’s tool manual).
2 Red NOK report At high level, indicates that the tool's red report rejected is on (see Operator’s tool
manual)
1 Green OK report At high level, indicates that the tool's green report accepted is on (see Operator’s
tool manual)

9 External start cycle Start the tool as long as the signal is maintained at a high level.
8 External reverse In "One touch run reverse" mode:
Select the reverse direction on a rising edge. The tool returns to automatic
tightening at the end of the loosening operation.
In mode "alternated":
Select the reverse direction as long as the signal is maintained at a high level.
7 Reset On a rising edge, reset the NcyOK counter, acknowledge a NOK report (when the
option "Lock on NOK" is enabled)

5 Reverse validation At high level, enable the operator to perform a loosening operation when the
option "Run reverse authorisation" is disabled in the PDA
4 Reject acknowledge On a rising edge, enable the operator to acknowledge a rejected tightening
operation and to start tightening again when the option "Lock on NOK" is enabled.
3 Free Free
2 Spindle validation At high level, the tool works normally. When set to 0 or NC (not connected), lock
tool start. When this function is not in use, you must connect this input to 24V
in order to use the tool normally

1.8. Output wiring
Two configurations are possible:
The PLC 24V is connected to the common of outputs.
The PLC inputs do not receive external 24V.
The DTU 24V is connected to the common of outputs.
The PLC inputs receive the 24V from the DTU.

Relay specifications: I max DC = 1A; V max DC 30V
Use a shielded cable whose shielding is grounded to the DTU.
1.9. Input wiring
Two configurations are possible:
The DTU 24V is used as "common" of a PLC relay board. By default, the PLC 24V is sent to the controller's inputs.

Inputs are as per type II of standard CEI 1132-2 (24V/13mA per input).
Use a shielded cable whose shielding is grounded to the DTU.

CHAPTER 2 – START-UP
1. ON RECEIVING THE TOOL
Check that the following items are included in the kit supplied with the tool:
- the certificate of conformity,
- the safety instructions,
- the CD-ROM.
- the Input/Output connectors
On delivery, a separate kit can be provided according to the country of destination. The kit includes the following items:
- the mains cord.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1. Necessary components
2.2. Installation procedure
- Stick the label (either 110 V or 230 V) that corresponds to your mains voltage to
the label for that purpose. This will help you avoid connecting an EAP / EDP
tool that does not correspond to this voltage.
- Fix the DTU in the vertical position.
- Remove the front panel to access I/O connectors.
- Connect I/O according to their functions. Check that the "Validation" jumper is
in place
- Connect the tool to the DTU.
- Connect the DTU to the mains (the tool power supply must comply with the mains voltage).
- Switch on the GFI.
- Switch on the DTU.
- Check that everything is working and put the front panel back in place.
WARNING: the tool connector must never be connected or disconnected when the tool is on. Switch off the DTU before
any connection / disconnection.
3. PROGRAMMING
