Safety Messages
Your safety and the safety of others are very important.
We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and
follow all safety messages.
All safety messages will tell you what the potential hazard is, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury,
and tell you what may happen if the instructions are not followed.

To reduce the risk of explosion, fire, death, electric shock, injury or scalding to persons when using this
product, follow basic precautions, including the following:
Technical Safety
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be
supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
To prevent hazards to you and others, only allow qualified personnel to install or service the product.
The information contained in the manual is intended for use by a qualified service technician who is
familiar with the safety procedures and equipped with the proper tools and test instruments.
Failure to read and follow all instructions in this manual can result in equipment malfunction, property
damage, personal injury and/or death.
Installation MUST conform to the local building codes or, in the absence of local codes, the National
Electrical Code NFPA 70/ANSI C1-1003 or current edition and Canadian Electrical Code Part1 CSA C.22. 1.
The Limited Warranty is void and of no effect, and LG will have no liability hereunder to any Customer or
third party, to the extent any of the following occur: acts, omissions, and conduct of any and all third
parties including, but not limited to, the installing contractor and any repairs, service or maintenance by
unauthorized or unqualified persons.

Installation
Contact the dealer to have the air conditioner installed.
Contact the dealer for repairs, maintenance and to reinstall the air conditioner.
Do not attempt to do electrical work or grounding work unless you are licensed to do so. Consult with
the dealer for electrical work and grounding work.
Be sure to only use accessories made by LG which are specifically designed for use with the equipment
and have them installed by a professional.
Be sure to use only those parts which are listed in the service parts list. Never attempt to modify the
equipment.
Do not install the unit in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Do not install the air conditioner at any place where flammable gas may leak out. If the gas leaks out and
stays around the air conditioner, a fire may break out.
Always install a dedicated circuit and breaker.
Be sure to install an earth leakage breaker.
Do not use a defective or underrated circuit breaker. Use this appliance on a dedicated circuit.
Be sure to establish an earth.
Tightly secure the indoor/outdoor wiring connections. Route the cable properly so nothing is exerting
force on the cable that could disconnect it from the connection terminals. Improper or loose connections
can generate heat or cause a fire.
Do not turn on the breaker or power while the front panel, cabinet, top cover or control box cover are
removed or opened.
Use non-flammable gas (nitrogen) to check for leaks and to purge air; using compressed air or
flammable gas may cause a fire or explosion.
Operation
Do not modify or extend the power cable.
Do not install the unit in an area where there are flammable materials.
Take care to ensure that the power cable cannot be pulled out or damaged during operation.
Never touch, operate, or repair the product with wet hands.
Never let the indoor unit or the remote controller get wet.
Do not insert hands or other objects through the air inlet or outlet while the product is operating.
Take care to ensure that nobody can step on or fall onto the outdoor unit.
Do not allow a child to mount on the unit or place any object on it. Do not let children play on and around
the unit.
If refrigerant gas leaks while the unit is being repaired do not touch the leaking refrigerant gas.
Never use flammable spray such as hair spray, lacquer or paint near the unit.
Do not use the product in a tightly closed space for a long time.
If equipment utilizing a burner is used in the same room as the air conditioner, there is the danger of
oxygen deficiency, which could lead to asphyxiation. Be sure to ventilate the room sufficiently to avoid
this hazard.
Make sure that there are no obstacles close to the outdoor unit. The presence of obstacles close to the
outdoor unit may reduce the performance of outdoor unit or increase its operating sound.
If there are any abnormalities in the operation of the air conditioner such as strange sounds, smoke or
fire. turn off the power and contact the dealer immediately.
Never sprinkle or spill water or liquids on unit.
If the product becomes soaked (flooded or submerged), contact the dealer.

If the refrigerant gas leaks during the installation, ventilate the area immediately.
Do not turn off the power immediately after stopping operation. Always wait for at least five minutes
before turning off the power.
Stop operation and close all window in storm or hurricane. If possible, remove the product from the
window before the hurricane arrives.
Wireless Remote Control
Remove the batteries if the remote control will not be used for an extended period of time.
Never mix different types of batteries, or old and new batteries, in the remote control.
Do not recharge or disassemble the batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire.
Stop using the remote control if there is fluid leaking from the battery. If your clothes or skin is exposed
to the leaking battery fluid, wash it off with clean water.
If the leaking battery fluid has been swallowed, rinse the inside of the mouth thoroughly and consult a
doctor.
Dispose of the batteries in a place where there is no danger of fire.
Maintenance
Consult with the installation contractor for cleaning or maintenance. Turn off all electrical power before
doing any cleaning or maintenance.
Check the foundation for damaged on a continuous basis, especially if it has been in use for a long time.
The heat exchanger fins are sharp edges enough to cut. To avoid injury, wear gloves or cover the fins
while working around them.
Tear apart and throw away plastic packaging bags so that children will not play with them.
Refrigerant
Never use refrigerants that are not specified on the specification. label and in the manuals.
Do not mix air or gases other than the specified refrigerant used in the system.
Always check for gas (refrigerant) leakage after installation or repair of product.
In the case of refrigerant leakage, consult the dealer.
When installing the air conditioner in a small room, it is necessary to take proper measures so that even
when it leaks, the amount of any leaked refrigerant does not exceed the limiting concentration even
when it leaks. If the refrigerant leakage exceeds the limiting concentration level, an oxygen deficiency-
related accident may occur.

Use two or more people to lift and transport the product.
Do not install the product in an area where it is directly exposed to sea wind (salt spray).

Make sure that the drainpipe is installed properly to drain water. Arrange the drain hose to ensure
smooth drainage.
Do not install the product where the noise or hot air from the outdoor unit could be harmful to your
immediate surroundings.
Exercise caution when unpacking or installing the product.
Keep the product level during installation or removal.
Safely dispose of the packing materials. Packing materials, such as nails and other metal or wooden
parts.
Installation work must be performed in accordance with the National Electric Code by qualified and
authorized personnel only.
Operation
Do not place anything on the power cable.
Do not drink the water drained from the product.
Do not step on or put anything on the product. (outdoor units)
Do not place objects in direct proximity of the outside unit.
Do not let leaves and other debris accumulate around the unit. Leaves are a hotbed for small animals,
which can enter the unit. Once inside the unit, these animals can lead to the unit malfunctioning, and
end up causing in smoke or fire when they make contact with electrical parts.
Do not let the air conditioner run while a door or window is open on a day with high humidity. This could
result in excessive moisture and water damage.
Do not use the air conditioner for any other purposes other than comfort cooling or heating. Do not use
the unit for cooling precision instruments, food, plants, animals or works of art.
Do not operate the product when using a room fumigation-type insecticide.
The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision.
Maintenance
Use a firm stool or ladder when cleaning or maintaining the product.
Do not wipe the controller operation panel with benzine, thinner, chemical dust cloths, etc. The panel
may get discolored or the coating may peel off.
If the product is very dirty, soak a cloth in water-diluted neutral detergent, squeeze it well and wipe the
panel clean. Then wipe it dry it with another dry cloth.
Do not touch the metal parts of the product when removing the air filter. They are very sharp.
Contact the dealer for repair or maintenance.

Notes for Operation
Adjust the direction of the airflow vertically to circulate indoor air.
Speed up the fan to cool or warm indoor air quickly, within a short period of time.
Turn off the appliance and periodically open windows for ventilation. The indoor air quality may
deteriorate if the appliance is used for long periods.
Clean the air filter once every 2 weeks. Dust and impurities collected in the air filter may block the airflow
or reduce the appliance performance.
Suggestions for Energy Saving
Do not over-cool the space. This may be harmful to your health and may consume more electricity.
Block sunlight with blinds or curtains while you are operating the appliance.
Keep doors or windows closed tightly while you are operating the appliance.

Displays the operating status and contains the receiver for the wireless remote.

Circulates air back into the room at the desired temperature.

Takes in air from the room and reduces dust in the air.

Operates the product when the remote control
can't be used.
•Press the a button for about 2 seconds. The
setting is Cooling mode, Power, 18 .
bDefrost Mode
Lights up when the defrost mode or hot
startfunction operates.
This function is only available on heat pump
models.
cTimer
Lights up when the timer function is set.
dRemote Control Receiver
eFilter Sign
Lights up when the time to use filter is more
than 2400 hours after first operating the
product.
fPower
Lights up when the product turns on or
operates.
Type 2
aOperating Status Lamp
The Clean Filter indicator lamp does not light
up starting from the corresponding product
manufacturing number (After Oct. 2021).
bForced Operation Button
Operates the product when the remote control
can't be used.
Press the b button for about 2 seconds. The
setting is Cooling mode, Power, 18 .
Manual Operation
If your wireless remote control is unavailable, you
can turn the appliance on and off by pressing the
Forced Operation button a on the indoor unit.

Type 2
Restoring the Previous Settings
When the air conditioner is turned on again after a
power failure, Auto Start function restores the
previous settings.
When using the appliance for the first time, Auto
Restart function is set. You can cancel and set this
function by pressing the Forced Operation button
a on the indoor unit.
Canceling Auto Restart
1 Open the front panel cover.
2 Press and hold the Forced Operation button
a for 6 seconds.
3 When the appliance beeps twice, release the
Forced Operation button a. The product will
beep twice and the lamp will blink 8 times.
Setting Auto Restart
1 Open the front panel cover.

3 When the appliance beeps twice, release the
Forced Operation button a. The product will
beep twice and the blue lamp will blink 4
times.

NOTE
This feature may change depending on the
model type.
If you press and hold the Forced Operation
button a for 3 - 5 seconds, instead of 6 seconds,
the appliance will switch to the test operation. In
this test operation, the appliance blows out
strong cooling air for 18 minutes and then
returns to factory default settings.
Preparing before Operation
Inserting the Batteries into the
Wireless Remote Control
Insert AAA (1.5 V) batteries into the wireless
remote control.
Remove the battery cover and insert the new
batteries, making sure that the + and – terminals
of the batteries are oriented correctly.
NOTE
When the wireless remote control display begins
to fade, replace the AAA (1.5 V) batteries.
Do not use old and new batteries together.
Installing the Remote Control
Holder
1 Choose a suitable place where its safe and
easy to reach.
2 Fix the firmly to the wall with the supplied
screws.
3 Slide the remote controller inside the holder.
NOTE
The remote controller should never be exposed
to direct sunlight.
The signal transmitter and receiver should
always be clean for proper communication. Use
a soft cloth to clean them.
If other appliances are accidentally affected by
the remote controller, change their position or
consult your serviceman.
Setting the Current Time on the
Wireless Remote Control
1 Insert the batteries.
The time flashes at the bottom of the
display screen.
2 Press and hold the Set/Clear button for about
3 seconds.

in 10-minute increments and decrements.
4 Press the Set/Clear button to set the current
time.
NOTE
•The On Timer and Off Timer are available after
setting the current time.
Selecting Fahrenheit or Celsius
Set the temperature display to show either
Fahrenheit () or Celsius () units.
1 Turn the appliance on.
2 Press and hold the Func. (Function) button
for about 5 seconds to change units between

Using Wireless Remote
Control
Operating with the Wireless
Remote Control
Point the wireless remote control towards the
signal receiver in front of the appliance to operate
it.

NOTE
The wireless remote control may operate other
electronic devices if it is directed towards them.
Make sure to point the wireless remote control
towards the appliance signal receiver.
Cooling, Auto, Dehumidification,
Heating, Fan Mode
You can change the operating mode when the
appliance is turned on.
1 Turn the appliance on.
2 Press the Mode button repeatedly to select
the desired mode.
3 Press the a or b button to set the desired
temperature.
Cooling Mode: Set the temperature from 64
(18 ) to 86 (30 ).
Heating Mode: Set the temperature from 60
(16 ) to 86 (30 ).
Auto Mode (Cooling only): Each press
changes the temperature as follows: -2 & -
1 & 0 & 1 & 2
Auto Mode (Heat pump): Set the
temperature from 64 (18 ) to 86 (30
).
Dehumidification, Fan Mode: There is no
temperature control.
Jet Mode
Use this mode to change the room temperature
more quickly.
1 Turn the appliance on.
2 Press the Mode button repeatedly to select
the desired mode.
•The Jet mode is available with Cooling,
Heating and Dehumidification modes.

Cool air blows from the air outlets.
Auto Mode
The product adjusts the airflow
automatically.
Dehumidification Mode
This function removes moisture in
indoor air.
Heating Mode
Warm air blows from the air outlets.
Fan Mode
This function circulates the air
without heating or cooling it.

Jet Cooling Mode
Strong cool air blows out for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, the temperature is
maintained at 64 (18 ) by default.
- To change the temperature, press the a
or b button to set the desired
temperature.
Jet Heating Mode
Strong warm air blows out for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, the temperature is
maintained at 86 (30 ) by default.
- To change the temperature, press the a
or b button to set the desired
temperature.
NOTE
Press the Jet Mode or Fan Speed or a or b
button to cancel the Jet mode.
Adjusting the Fan Speed
You can adjust the fan speed in 5 steps.
Press the Fan Speed button repeatedly to select
the desired fan speed.
NOTE
The fan speed may be different according to the
model.
Adjusting the Airflow Direction
You can adjust the direction of airflow vertically or
horizontally.
•Press the Air Flow button to select the desired
airflow direction.

Sets the vane to deflect airflow away

from occupants in the room.
Refresh Mode
Emits wind that automatically
changes temperature, air volume and
wind direction.

Setting Individual Vane Angle
You can adjust the vane angle individually.
1 Press the Vane Angle button repeatedly to
select the desired vane.
2 Press the a or b button to select the desired
vane angle.
Timer Setting
Set the appliance to turn on and off automatically
at a desired time.
Sleep Timer
The air conditioner operates in Sleep mode and
turns off automatically at the set time.
1 Press the Sleep button while the air
conditioner is operating.
The icon below flashes at the bottom of the
display screen.
2 Press the c or d button to set the desired
time.
3 Press the Set/Clear button.
The air conditioner operates until the set
time and then turns off automatically.
On Timer
1 Press the On button while the air conditioner
is operating.
The icon below flashes at the bottom of the
display screen.

Turn the air conditioner off. It will turn on
automatically at the set time.
Off Timer
1 Press the Off button while the air conditioner
is operating.
The icon below flashes at the bottom of the
display screen.
2 Press the c or d button to set the desired
time.
3 Press the Set/Clear button.
The air conditioner operates until the set
time and then turns off automatically.
Special Functions
Auto Clean (On Some Models)
In Cooling and Dehumidification modes,
moisture is generated inside the indoor unit. Use
this function to reduce that moisture.
1 Turn the appliance on.
2 Press the Func. (Function) button repeatedly
to select the Auto Clean function.
3 Press the Set/Clear button to set the function.
NOTE
Some functions cannot be used while the Auto
Clean function is in operation.
If you turn off the appliance, the fan continues to
run for 30 minutes to clean the inside of the
indoor unit.
20 OPERATION
Energy Saving Cooling (On Some
Models)
This function adjusts the desired temperature
during the cooling operation to enhance the
comfort of the user and improve the energy saving
performance.
1 Turn the appliance on.
2 Press the Func. (Function) button repeatedly
to select the Energy Saving Cooling function.
3 Press the Set/Clear button to set the function.
Smart Cleaning (On Some Models)
During the Smart Clean operation, a brush moves
back and forth across the filter to clean it.
Auto Smart Clean Operation
If the accumulated operation time of the product
exceeds 30 hours, the Smart Clean automatically
starts when the indoor unit is turned off.
1 Press the Func. (Function) button repeatedly
to select the Smart Clean function.
2 Press the Set/Clear button to set the function.
NOTE
If the accumulated operation time of the product
exceeds 30 hours, the Smart Clean
automatically starts when the indoor unit is
turned off.
To stop this function, press the Set/Clear button
again.
Manual Smart Clean Operation
You can also manually set Smart Clean function.
1 When the indoor unit stops, press the Func.
(Function) button repeatedly to select the
Smart Clean function.
2 Press the Set/Clear button to set the function.
NOTE
The cleaning process used in the Smart Clean
function may vary by product.
To stop this function, press the Set/Clear button
again.
Comfort Cooling (On Some Models)
This function cools until it reaches the set
temperature and then automatically controls the
cooling level as needed to maintain that
temperature.
