Before using the toast oven for the fi rst time with food, it must be operated
empty once, ie without any food. This will help to eliminate any odours.
1. Set up the oven as described in Chapter 4 'Setting up the oven'.
WARNING!
Fire hazard! Any remaining packaging or other left-
over materials may catch fi re.
– Remove any packaging materials before use.
Also ensure that all internal packaging materials
are removed from the oven interior.
2. Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket.
3. Set the temperature control to 200 °C.
4. Turn the 5-position switch to its
position (upper/lower heat).
5. Set the timer to 10 minutes.
Ü The oven starts pre-heating.
Ü The air circulation function starts automatically.
Ü A quiet ticking sound can be heard from the timer.
HINT:
When the appliance is switched on for the fi rst time,
a slight smell may be emitted. This is normal and
will only last for a very short time.
Ensure suffi cient ventilation.
6. Wait until the pre-programmed time has elapsed, and an acoustic signal
is heard.
Ü The heating elements automatically switch themselves off.
6 Preparing food in the oven
WARNING!
Fire hazard! Food residues in the interior become
very hot and may burn, especially when the food
has a high fat content.
– Ensure that the interior, especially the heating
elements, and all accessory parts are free from
food residue.
– Clean any contamination as described in
Chapter 7 'Cleaning the toast oven'.
– Should any smoke be detected, the oven must
be switched off immediately: simply turn the
5-position switch to its
(OFF) position.
For cooking food, you can choose 4 heating levels:
•
Upper heat (only the 2 upper heating elements are switched on)
•
Upper heat with rotary spit (only the upper heating elements are
activated, and the rotary spit drive is engaged)
•
Upper and lower heat (all heating elements are switched on)
•
Lower heat (only the 2 lower heating elements are switched on)
HINT:
Selecting the heating level
The most suitable heating level depends largely on
the type of food to be cooked. The cooking times
below are therefore only approximate. Always
observe the manufacturer’s cooking instructions.
