Befaco LICH is a programmable multi-function module based on Rebel Technology OWL platform. It has four pot controls, CV and Gate outs, patch selection and a display, and USB MIDI host and device connections.

LICH comes with four patches loaded:

  • Silky Reverb: Lush reverb that can provide from clean reverberations to outer space-like textures.
  • Tap Tempo Delay: Tap tempo Delay with synced Sine and Ramp LFO outputs at CV Outs. Tempo can be also divided and multiplied.
  • Harmonic Lich: CV and MIDI controlled Harmonic oscillator, an Oscillator where you can control the harmonic content of your signal.

Lich is a programmable multi function module based on Rebel Technology OWL platform. This is a
collaboration that brings back Owl's platform with this new hardware iteration. It has four pot controls, like the
classic Owl module, adding CV and Gate outs, patch selection and display and USB MIDI host and device
connections.

Lich is a multi function programmable module that comes with four patches loaded.
A reverb, stereo delay, harmonic oscillator and a two way CV-MIDI and MIDI-CV converter.
On start, Lich will load patch one by default, please refer to the next pages for patch details and
control mapping. Also, you can load more patches from Owl's library, and even create your own!
We will go through this later on the manual.

Harmonic Lich is a CV and MIDI controlled Harmonic oscillator, an Oscillator where you can control
the harmonic content of your signal.
With Pot A and B you control the root note played and detune it. IN L will be the v/oct input if you
want to accurately CV control the frequency.
Pot C will change the Harmonic center, Pot D controls how high and low frequencies are
attenuated.
This patch will shine when a MIDI controller is attached, so you can control the volume of the rst
eight harmonics, starting with the fundamental, and following the rst seven harmonics. It also
responds to MIDI note messages by changing the fundamental frequency.

As Lich is based on Rebel Tech's Owl Digital platform, new patches can be created and uploaded to
the module. The platform accepts patches created in Pure Data Vanilla, C++, Faust or Max Gen but
if you are not familiar with coding languages, a variety of patches are already available on Rebel
Tech's patch library.
To upload new patches connect the module to your computer via USB and open the next address in
a browser that accepts MIDI (such as Google Chrome or Chromium).
https://www.rebeltech.org/patch-library/
Once there, go to Device and press Connect to Device. You will be prompted with a message to
allow the browser to access MIDI Devices, press yes. Once the website connects with your device
you should see a screen like this:
On this screen you will have feedback about the amount of CPU memory used and some tweaks to
reset the device and clear the memory. The patches loaded will be showed at the right.
Now use the menu at the top to navigate through the patches and press one you like.

On the patch screen you will see a description of the patch and their controls. LOAD button will
store it in RAM so you can test the patch but it will gone as soon as the module will be turned o.
To load it permanently on the memory press STORE, select the desired slot and you are done.
Please note that many of these patches are intended for other Owl devices so exclusive hardware
additions on Lich like CV Outs won't have any function assigned. As these patches are coded by an
entire community of users, we can't guarantee their complete functionality.
