Foreword to the operating instructions
These operating instructions are intended to make it easier to become acquainted with the machine
and to use it for its intended purpose.
The operating instructions contain important information on how to operate the machine safely,
properly and economically. Observance of these instructions helps to avoid danger, to reduce repair
costs and downtimes and to increase the reliability and service life of the machine.
The operating instructions must be supplemented by instructions based on existing national regula-
tions for accident prevention and environmental protection.
The operating instructions must always be available at the place of use of the machine.
The operating instructions must be read and used by every person who is involved in work with the
machine, e.g:
- Operation, including setup, troubleshooting in the work sequence, disposal of production waste,
maintenance, disposal of operating and auxiliary materials.
- maintenance (servicing, inspection, repair) and/or
- transport
is commissioned.
In addition to the operating instructions and the binding accident prevention regulations applicable in
the country of use and at the place of use, the recognized technical rules for safety and technical work
must also be observed.

Target group: These operating instructions are intended for semi-skilled and trained personnel
from the fields of construction mechanics, concrete cutting technology, road construction, structural
and civil engineering.

1.2 General Safe Operating Procedures
1.2.1 The machine has been manufactured in keeping with the most recent technology and the rec-
ognised safety rules. Nevertheless there may be some risk of a hazard to life and limb of the user or
third persons or impairments of the machine and other real assets respectively.
1.2.2 Use the machine only in good working condition and follow all procedures concerning correct
and safe operation, as outlined in the manual! This applies specifically to malfunctions that can jeop-
ardise safety!
1.2.3 This floor saw is intended for cutting concrete or asphalt exclusively.
The cutting of wood, plastic material or metal (except concrete reinforcements) is not permitted!
Any other utilisation of this floor saw is considered inadmissible.
The manufacturer/supplier is not liable for any damage caused by undue application.
Correct operation also requires following instructions in the operating
manual as well as inspection and maintenance procedures.
1.3 Organisational Measures
1.3.1 Always keep the operating manual close to the machine and easily accessible!
1.3.2 Follow all laws and regulations concerning accident prevention and environmental
compliance listed in the supplement to this operating manual. These regulations
can, for example, apply to the use of dangerous chemicals, personal protective
equipment, and traffic laws.
1.3.3 Any personnel working on the machine must read this operating manual
especially this chapter on safety precautions-prior to beginning. Learning on
the job is too late. This especially applies to personnel who occasionally work
on the machine (e.g. setup and maintenance crews).
1.3.4 Perform regular spot checks to ensure that personnel are doing their jobs in a safe and consci-
entious manner and that they are adhering to the instructions in the operating manual!
Use personal protective equipment whenever necessary or when required by regulations!
1.3.6 Pay attention to all safety and danger warning labels located on the machine!
1.3.7 Keep all safety and danger warning labels in/on the machine completely legible!
1.3.8 Stop the machine and notify the parties in charge when performing safety- related changes o
the machine or its operation!
1.3.9 Make no alterations and do not add componentry or rebuild the machine
without permission from the manufacturer!
1.3.10 Use only original spare parts!
1.3.11 Perform all scheduled inspections as needed, or use the scheduled intervals
outlined in the operating manual!
For carrying out maintenance work, adequate workshop equipment is
indispensable.

1.4 Qualifications for Selecting Operators; Fundamental Responsibilities
1.4.1 Only personnel of proven reliability is allowed to operate the machine. Observe legal minimum
age requirements!
1.4.2 Use only qualified and trained personnel. Clearly define staff responsibilities concerning oper-
ation of machine, setup, maintenance, and repair works!
1.4.3 Ensure that the floor saw is handled only by persons instructed to do so.
1.4.4 Define machine operator's responsibility - also in respect to road traffic regulations - and his
ability to object to instructions not in compliance with the safety regulations!
Apprentices, new employees, or personnel being trained must be
accompanied at all times by an experienced operator while working
on the machine!
1.4.6 Any work at the electrical equipment of the floor saw must be carried out by a qualified electri-
cian only or a trained person under the supervision of a qualified electrician, in accordance with the
rules and standards for electronics.

1.5 Safety notice to certain operation times
Normal Operation
1.5.1.1 Do not perform procedures that may present a safety risk!
1.5.1.2 Take steps to ensure the machine is used only when it is
in a safe, operational state!
1.5.1.3 Machine must be examined for externally visible damage at least once per
shift! Report any changes (including performance) to the appropriate
personnel at once! If necessary, immediately stop and secure the machine!
1.5.1.4 Immediately stop and secure the machine when malfunctioning!
Promptly fix the problem!
1.5.1.5 Prior to starting work, familiarise yourself with the locality and its environment. The environ-
ment may include obstacles within the working and traffic area, safe floor load, necessary protection of
the site towards public traffic areas, first aid in the case of an accident.
1.5.2 Using the Machine for Extracurricular Jobs and Maintenance Procedures, e.g. Troubleshoot-
ing; Waste Disposal
Follow the instructions in the operating manual when adjusting,
maintaining and inspecting componentry and performing scheduled
work. This includes the replacement of parts! Only qualified
personnel are allowed to perform these activities.
Notify operators of any maintenance or additional work prior to
performing it! Appoint a supervisor!
When the machine is completely turned off for maintenance or repair
work, it must be safeguarded against an unexpected restart.
1.5.2.4 Before cleaning machine with water or by steam jet or with other cleansing agents cover and
seal all openings into which, due to safety or functional reasons, water/steam/cleansing agent
may not penetrate. Particularly protect endangered electric motors and switches.
1.5.2.5 Completely remove all covers/tape after cleaning!
1.5.2.6 Tighten any loose screws after performing maintenance or repair work!
1.5.2.7 If the protective devices on the machine need to be removed for setting up,
maintenance or repairs, they must be reassembled immediately afterwards
and tested for their safety features in order to ensure safe operation!
1.5.2.8 Dispose of lubrication and auxiliary devices as well as spare parts in a safe
and environmentally friendly manner!
The machine must be operated on circuits with safety switch (FI) only.

1.6 Precautions for Special Types of Danger
1.6.1 Electrical Power
1.6.1.1 Only use original fuses with the electrical current for which they were
designed! Immediately turn off the machine when encountering electrical
problems!
Any work on electrical equipment must be performed by a qualified
electrician only or by trained persons under the supervision by a qualified
electrician, in compliance with the regulations for electrical engineering.
Regularly inspect/check the machine’s electrical condition. Problems, such
as loose connections (e.g. damaged cables) must be immediately repaired.
1.6.2 Dust
Observe all national regulations and standards when working in small
spaces!
1.6.3 Noise
Wear mandatory hearing protection!
1.7 Transport
Ensure that your hoisting gear and load suspension devices have adequate
carrying capacity.
Have an experienced coordinator direct the lifting process!
Lift the machines using only approved lifting equipment as per the
instructions in the operating manual (striking points for loading procedures)!
Use only a vehicle providing sufficient lift capacity for transporting the
machine!
1.7.5 Secure the load. Use the appropriate striking points!
1.7.6 Turn off the power even when moving the machine only a small distance!
Before restarting, ensure the machine is securely connected!
1.7.7 Always follow the instructions in the operating manual when restarting!
1.7.8 Don’t leave the floor saw in non-braked position. * Control lever (Pos. 12) in cutting gear
means brake position

2.4 Noise emmitted

WARNING Ear muffs must be worn if a 85 dB(A) noise level is exceeded!
The acoustic emission measurement was made in consideration of EN ISO 3744, EN 13862 and the
guidline 2000/14/EEC.
2.5 Vibrations of the handle:

By the measurements following guidelines were considered:
EN ISO 5349, VD, 2057 Blatt 2, Guideline 2002/44/EEC
The mentioned values were determined while cutting of concrete with a depth of 10 cm.
In practice, these values can be swayed by:
the quality of the saw blade
the heaviness of the operator
the feed speed
the condition of the machine
the composition/consistence of the concrete

3. Commissioning
Connect water hose or fill water tank
ATTENTION Contaminated water causes obstructions!
Check motor oil level
- Fill with fuel (FS 20 B = unleaded fuel)
(FS20 D = Diesel)
ATTENTION Danger of fire and explosion!
- If required, install saw blade (see point 5.3!)
ATTENTION Saw blade protective hood must be fastened correctly!
- Fold pointer (item 2) forward, adjust steering sheet (Pos. 28) with pointer axle (Pos. 27) ac-
cording to the saw blade
- Align floor saw in the drive direction
* Place saw blade and steering disk over the cutting line
* Saw blade must not touch the surface
Start procedure FS 20 B
- Pull out the choke button (item 25) to the closed position (not required when the external tem-
perature is high or the motor is warm)
- Turn throttle lever (item. 22.1) slightly upwards
- Turn the ignition key to the right (item 23)
- As soon as the motor is running, release the ignition key
ATTENTION Do not set the motor switch on "Start" longer than 5 seconds!
- During the warm-up time, gradually push in the choke button

Starting procedure for FS 20 D (see motor operating manual)
- Pull on gas lever (item. 22.2) somewhat.
- Turn ignition key (item 23) to the right - until the motor is running.
- Release the ignition key again.
- Open water valve
ATTENTION If no water flows when the tank is used, you must
rinse out the water supply with fresh water
(hydrant or house connection, 5-8 bar)!
- Bring throttle lever (item 22.2) into the full-throttle position
- With the crank (item 3), lower the saw blade until it touches the ground
- Place the height scale (item. 4) on "0"
- With the crank (item 4), dip the saw blade down to the desired cutting depth (height scale
shown in cm)
ATTENTION When lowering the saw blade, the floor saw must be braked
with the spring lock (item 5)!
(for electrical feed see supplemental operating manual 9)
- Tighten V-belt after the first two hours of operation (see point 7.1)
- Tighten all screws after the first 20 hours of operation

4. Transport
4.1 Transport position:
- Pointer is folded up
- Saw arm is in horizontal position
- Cutting depth adjustment is secured against twisting with the clamping lever
- Screws are tightened
- Engage brake (item 5) (for electrical feed see supplemental operating manual 9)
ATTENTION! When transporting on a vehicle, the floor saw must be
secured with tensioning devices.
The floor saw must not be transported lying down!
4.2 Moving with a crane
4.2.1 FS 20 B
- Fold up jack rings (item 1)
- Use suspension gear with sufficient lifting capacity
4.2.2 FS 20-D
- Remove water tank
- Fold up crane suspension
- Use suspension gear with sufficient lifting capacity
4.3 Securing for transportation
4.3.1 FS 20 B
Engage brake (item 5)
Secure floor saw by attaching tensioning belts (item 24) to the rings (item 21)
Tighten second belt around the machine frame (see illustration)
FS 20 D
Engage brake (item 5)
Remove water tank
Attach tensioning belt (item 24) to the jack ring (see photo FS 20 D)

5. Operation
5.1 Normal cutting operation
- Bring throttle lever (item 22) into the full-throttle position
- Initiate feed movement through hand crank (item. 6) (for electrical feed, see 9)
- Adjust feed speed to the feed force
- If feed force is too great, you must check the following points:
* Saw blade blunt?
* Insufficient cooling water?
* Right choice of saw blade?
* Does the motor produce its full power or speed?
- Take care to achieve a straight cut so the saw blade does not jam.
5.2 Saw blade replacement
- Brake floor saw with spring lock (item 5)
- Remove saw hood
* Pull up saw hood by the handle (item 9)
* Loosen screw (item 8) - pull up and unhinge
- Unscrew and remove hexagon nut (item 10)
- Remove saw flange thrust washer and saw blade
- Thoroughly clean the flange's contact surfaces, if necessary
- Install new saw blade
ATTENTION * Rotation direction arrow on the saw blade must match the one
on the hood
* The driving pin on the flange must seat in the driving hole on
the saw blade!
* A laser-welded blade must be used for the variant with in-
creased speed! Blades with soldered segments must not be
used.
- Install the saw flange thrust washer and the hexagon nut
- Install the saw hood

5.3 Choice of sawing blade
The saw blades used must meet the following conditions:
- max. saw blade diameter 600mm
- saw blade holder Ø 25.4 mm
- manufactured according to ISO 6104 or EN 13236
Always check saw blades before installation!

All segments present?
No undercut of the segments?
Was the blade overheated? (bare steel tarnished blue = do not use!)
No cracks in the blade?
Check: Knock with piece of wood
Blade resonates = OK
Blade sounds dull = do not use! (Exception: so-called silent blades)
Defective or cracked tools must be replaced immediately!
The following saw blades are not permitted:
- Saw blades for dry cutting

5.4 Conversion from left-hand to right-hand cut
ATTENTION Left-hand cut is the normal working order of the floor saw,
right-hand cut should be used for short courses only!
- Remove handwheel (6) and pointer (2)
- Disconnect water hose
- Remove saw protection cap
Lift protection cap by its handle (9)
Loosen and withdraw bolt (8)
- Turn crank handle (3) until spindle nut lays open (11)
- Slightly lift saw arm (12) on left-hand side
- Slightly pivot spindle head (13)
- Place saw arm (12) with sawing blade on the ground
- Pivot spindle head (13) horizontally and remove from bore hole (crank handle points to the
left)
- Remove splash guard from belt guard
- Pivot swivel arm (12) to right-hand side
- Put spindle head (13) into bore hole provided (14)
ATTENTION Possible only in a horizontal position
Turn spindle into spindle nut (11)
Fasten blade guard
- Mount handles (16) on other side
- Turn water tank and connect hose
- Reattach pointer (2) and handwheel (6)
- Reattach splash guard to blade guard

6. Switching-off

- Shift accelerator (22.1) downwards - Shift back the accelerator (22.2)
- Turn left ignition key - Turn left ignition key
- Actuate brake (spring bolt 5)
- Please also observe engine operating instructions
7. MAINTENANCE
Prior to any maintenance work - apply brake (5)

Ste Place a suitable oil receptacle (funnel) under
the oil drain plug. Instead of a funnel, a U-support
or the transport plate (was under the wheels at de-
liveryI) can be used. Put floor saw in oblique posi-
tion, if required.
Lubrication of spindle nut for height adjustment

Tighten all screws after 20 working hours
Restretch V-belt after first 2 hours of operation.
Please observe also the operating instructions of the motor manufacturer! (You will find it
attached on each new machine). Especially attend the safety and maintenance instructions!
IMPORTANT
We point out that any damage occurring to the engine during the guaranty period must be re-
paired by an authorized contracting partner exclusively (see our field service list).

Please observe the engine manufacturer's instructions (which are attached to each new ma-
chine) and also observe especially the safety and maintenance regulations!
8.3 Checking of V-belt tension
- Remove protection cap (20)
- With medium force, it should be possible to depress the V-belt by one belt width
8.4 Adjusting the V-belt tension
- Loosen clamping bolt (8)
- Lift blade guard by handle (9)
- Remove sawing blade (see point 5.3)!
- Access to the V-belt adjusting device is provided by a rectangular opening in the belt guard.
- Loosen Allen key screw
- Unscrew lock nut on the hexagon screw
- Adjust hexagon screw as needed and fix with a lock nut
- Install saw blade and hood
- Never forget to install the protection cap (20)!

VE = electric feed system
Control functions
