These guitars and basses may feature active electronic circuitry powered by a 9-volt battery, and will not work without a sufficiently charged battery. Some models feature one pickup in the bridge position, and offer 3 modes of operation, selected by pushbutton switches: Special Parallel, Pickup + Buffer, and Pickup + Distortion. The onboard distortion circuitry can be preset for the desired sound via controls for Gain, Tone and Level, which are accessed via a removable rubber grommet in the large back plate.
