OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before first use :
1. Remove the lid from your kettle by grasping on the center of the lid and firmly
pulling upwards. Use your other hand and hold the kettle down by the handle to
keep the unit steady.
2. Fill the kettle to the ‘max’ level. Boil. Discard the water. Repeat this twice.
3. Make sure that the lid is fitted properly before boiling.
4. Always ensure your kettle is placed on a flat surface.
AUTOMATIC KETTLE (SAK 20)
Fill to the required level. Insert the connector into the rear of the kettle, plug into the mains
socket, switch on and then slide the on/off switch down to the ‘1” position to switch on the
kettle. When the kettle boils it will switch off automatically.
CORDLESS KETTLE (SCK 25)
The kettle must only be used with the power base supplied. Adjust the cord to the desired
length and position most suitable for use and plug into the wall outlet. Fill the kettle with
water, place firmly on the power base and slide the on/off switch down to the ‘1’ position to
switch on the kettle. When the kettle boils it will switch off automatically.
NEVER OVERFILL YOUR KETTLE AS THIS MAY RESULT IN BOILING WATER
BEING EJECTED FROM THE SPOUT AND WILL ALSO INTERFERE WITH THE
SWITCH OFF TIME OF THE KETTLE.
BOIL DRY PROTECTION
A safety cutout device will automatically operate should the kettle be accidentally switched on
without any water, or without sufficient water to cover the element, or by allowing to boil dry.
Should the cutout device be activated, allow your kettle to cool for a few minutes before
refilling, to permit this device to reset. This safety protection is applicable to both models.
CLEANING
Always unplug the kettle at the mains, and leave to cool before cleaning. (add in pic)
Clean the outside with a soft, damp cloth, and buff with a dry cloth.
Never use any harsh cleaning agents or abrasive products.
DESCALING
If, and when necessary you can descale your kettle with one of the following options :
White Vinegar
Fill the kettle with ½ L of white vinegar, leave to soak for 1 hour without boiling.
Empty your kettle and rinse 2 or 3 times with clean water.
Citric Acid
Boil 0.5L of water, add 25g of citric acid and leave to soak for 15 minutes.
Discard this mixture and rinse 2 to 3 times. Repeat process if needed.
Note when using powder descaler or citric acid, always add water, Never use in an empty
kettle !!!!
Discolouration of the internal part of the kettle due to water conditions in your area will
not be regarded as a malfunction.
It is recommended that you clean your kettle regularly.
PROBLEM SOLVING
1. Kettle switches off before it has boiled
Generally caused by scale build up inside, and can be resolved by descaling.
Alternatively, the kettle may have accidentally been used without water, causing
the safety cutout device to operate.
2. Kettle does not work
Check that the power supply is switched on at the wall socket
Check that the connection cord is fitted correct (connection base for SCK25)
3. Water has a plastic taste
Generally, this only occurs after the first use, and is not a problem if the water boiled
on the initial use is discarded as recommended in the above section. If the problem
persists, fill the kettle to the ‘max’ level and add 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda.
Boil and discard the water.
4. Kettle forms scale and/or water turns cloudy
If you live in a hard water area this is normal, and is caused by calcium and
magnesium carbonates in the water. Therefore regular descaling will be essential.
