Principle of Operation
The SS600 Series noise diffuser is installed on the
outlet side of steam traps, valves or other equipment
that discharges high velocity steam, condensate or air
to the atmosphere. The baffle is constructed of a fine
stainless steel wire mesh, similar to steel wool. The
porous mesh breaks down the high velocity discharge
which dampens the sound significantly.
Installation
▲ WARNING
Personal injury or system damage may
result if this diuser is installed where
service conditions could exceed the
limits given in the Specications section.
Additionally, physical damage to the
diuser may result in personal injury
or property damage due to escaping of
accumulated gas. To avoid such injury
and damage, install the diuser in a
safe location.
Do not install diuser in such a manner
that may cause accidental exposure
of discharge.
• Before installing the SS600 Series, blow all dirt and
scale from apparatus and piping.
• Install the SS600 Series on outlet side of steam or
air trap.
• Orient the SS600 Series to discharge toward floor
or other suitable enclosure.
Maintenance
1. Before installing or removing the SS600 Series,
isolate trap from pressure source.
2. To replace the SS600 Series element, remove
retaining ring and screen.
3. Pry old element from body.
4. Ensure to avoid damaging retaining ring groove.
5. To reassemble, push new element into body. Press
a new screen on top of element, compressing it
into body.
6. Install a new retaining ring.
