INSTALLATION
ILA-0800-REV. 'B'
a. Receiving Inspection
Upon receipt, check a ll pa ckages for accessories or optional components, including legs, ca sters and shelves.
b. Door Handles
Rem ove door handle from bag inside cabinet and install on outside of door. The screw heads must be filled with NSF listed
RTV.
c. Shelves
Shipped inside each cabinet are plastic wrap ped shelves a nd a bag of shelf supports. Shelf spacing is a djustable to suit
requirem ents.
d. Pilasters (SP/WTR/UCR: 20, 27, 34, 48, 60, 72)
The pila sters can be removed, without the use of tools, for cleaning.
e. Legs & Casters
Ea ch cabinet is provided with four legs or ca sters shipped inside the cabinet. The legs or casters screw directly into an
a dapter nut provided in each co rner of the b ase.
f. Locating Cooler
Provide at least two inches of space between cabinet rear and adjacent wa ll.
2. OPERATION
a. Electrical Supply and Connections
Plug a ll sta ndard models into 115 volts AC 60-Hertz outlet. Low line voltage is often the cause of service complaints. Check
to see that the line voltage is 110 volts or m ore with the unit running. Other motors or heavy appliances should not be used
on the same circuit with the cooler. When working on the inside of the cooler, disconnect from electrical circuit for safety
reasons. CAUTION: If an extension cord is necessary, use only a three wire grounding type of wire size 16 AWG or
larger. DO NOT exceed 20 ft. in length. The use of ungrounded cords or overload circuit voids compressor warranty.
b. Initial Start-Up
Turn power on a nd check to verify that the condenser fan is running.
c. Temperature control
Fa ctory setting of temperature control for a refrigerator is No. 5 position (normal) which will ma intain the product at
a pproximately 38°F. Factory setting for a f reezer is No. 5 position (normal) which will ma intain the product at
a pproximately 0°F. For colder temperatures, turn knob clockwise one number a t a t im e.
Excessive tampering with temperature control could lead to service difficulties. For operation a bove 3000-ft. a ltitude, have
thermostat a djusted by a qualified service technician.
d. Condensate Disposal
The a luminum pan below the evaporator serv es to collect and direct the condensate to the evaporator pan located below the
unit. Airflow over the pan hastens condensate evaporation so that external drain plumbing is not required.
e. Freezer Defrost Sy stem
Defrost tim ers a re factory set for (6) twenty m inute defrosts per 24 hour period. The sta rt tim e for defrosting should be set to
occur during lightest usage of cabinet. Choose defrost time desired a nd turn adjusting cam until defrost is a ctivated. Def ro s t
will then occur every four hours. The a djusting cam is loca ted on the face of the evaporator housing.
2. CLEANING
a. Cleaning Cabinet Exterior
Cabinets should be cleaned with a solution of m ild soap and water. Do not use caustic soap or a brasiv e cleaners, since these
m igh t da mage the cabinet finish. If sta inless steel surface becomes discolored, scrub by rubbing only in the direction of the
finish gra in. Do not use steel wool.
b. Cleaning Interi or Surfaces
The inside of the cabinet is Anodized Aluminum. To clean, use m ild soapy water a nd cloth or sponge.
c. Condenser
For efficient operation, it is reco m mended that th e condenser coil a nd fans be cleaned every 3 to 6 months. Remove rear
grille for access. Va cuum clean front surface of coil thoroughly or direct f orced a ir through condenser fins. Failure to clean
condenser can cause compressor malfunction and will void warranty.
d. Condensate Pan
Condensate pan should be cleaned periodically to prevent odors and to m aintain evaporating efficiency.
