Gleason Reel TORQ-ARM U-joint Air Manifold Installation guide

  • Hello! I'm your assistant, and I've reviewed the installation instructions for the HUBBELL TAM-U01 Air Manifold U-joint replacement kit. This document provides step-by-step guidance on replacing the U-joint, including safety precautions and detailed instructions for disassembly and reassembly of the lower arm of the TORQ-ARM. The document emphasizes the importance of not losing spacers on bolts during the process. I'm ready to answer any questions you have about this procedure.
  • What should be done before starting U-joint replacement?
What is included in the Air Manifold U-joint replacement kit?
What should you do about the spacers on bolts when removing the old U-joint?
1. Turn off air supply to TORQ-ARMTM.
2. Remove portable tool from U-joint. See Fig 2.
3. Disconnect air line from U-joint. See Fig 2.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
#TAM–U01 AIR MANIFOLD U-JOINT REPLACEMENT KIT
Turn off compressed air supply to TORQ-ARMTM prior to
removing tool or disconnecting air line. Failure to do so
could result in damage to equipment or personal injury.
WARNING
INTRODUCTION: The Air Manifold U-joint replacement kit includes a U-joint permanently affixed to the sliding portion of the lower
arm. U-joint replacement requires disassembly of the lower arm of the TORQ-ARMTM.
U-JOINT INSTALLATION
5. Remove lock nuts and flat washers from three bolts thru
lower arm. Carefully remove bolts and flat washers,
allowing slide arm and U-joint to drop out of slide arm
assembly. Do not lose spacers on bolts. See Fig 3.
6. Twist right hand (nut side) arm back to allow installation
of new slide arm and U-joint. See Fig 2.
7. Insert two lower bolts and flat washers into left hand arm.
Bolts should extend thru arm 3/8" (thickness of slider
arm or length of spacers). See Fig 3.
8. Place spacers on bolts. See Fig 3.
9. Position new slide arm on spacers. Arm must be
positioned with cable hole near top surface and with
air fitting hole in side of manifold facing rear. See Fig 1.
10. Twist right hand arm forward and align with bolts. Make
sure spacers are on bolts, then push bolts thru arm.
11. Insert third bolt and washer with spacer between arm
sections. Place hose clamp and flat washer on bolt and
secure with lock nut.
12. Place flat washers and lock nuts onto lower two bolts.
Tighten all three nuts.
13. Test slide action. Slightly loosen lock nuts if necessary.
14. Reattach balance cable safety clip, air line and tool.
15. Turn on compressed air and test for leaks.
