How does the Power Strip 6 work?
The control box has a Passive Infrared Sensor ‘eye’ which monitors the space
in front of it for movement. If there is no movement in the room for 37 minutes
the Power Strip will bleep twice, if there is still no activity or use of the remote
control within the next 2 minutes then the Power Strip bleeps 6 times. These
bleeps indicate that all items plugged in the ‘SAVER SIDE’ will shut down in 1
minute. Any movement in the room or remote control signal during the 39 min-
utes, resets the Power Strip’s sensor and timer. This feature is designed to save
electricity. When appliances are left ON or on standby you are using electricity
and therefore unnecessarily wasting money.
FAQs
1. Do I need a special remote control to use Power Strip? No, you can use any
home infrared remote control.
2. I am having problems getting the Power Strip to learn my remote control
button? When programming the Power Strip make sure you are away from
bright lights and direct sunlight as they can emit infrared signals that may
interrupt the programming. If you are still having problems, try changing the
batteries in the remote control.
3. How far away can I be from the Power Strip and still use my remote control?
This depends on the model and how good the batteries are, but generally up
to 7m would be ok.
4. Can I add an extension lead to one of the 4 sockets controlled by my
remote? Yes, you can add an extension lead to give you more sockets.
5. Can I connect my audio system to the Power Strip? Yes.
6. Can I connect my games console to the Power Strip? Yes, the more items
you connect that can be left on standby, the more money you will save.
7. How much energy does a Power Strip use in standby? 0.19 watt.
8. Why does it take 5 seconds for the Power Strip to shut down? The built-in
‘soft shut down’ feature helps further extend the life of connected items.
Initial Setup
It is essential that you are away from both bright lights and direct sunlight
before programming your Power Strip, they can emit infrared signals which can
interfere with the setup.
1. Plug your appliances into the Power Strip.
There are two sets of plug sockets – 4 x SAVER SIDE sockets are automatically
controlled and 2 x ALWAYS ON sockets for items that need to be left
permanently on.
2. Plug the Power Strip into the mains.
Make sure the mains supply is switched on – you should see a light come on
the black ‘control box’ and hear an audible ‘bleep’.
3. Place the control box near your television.
The white ‘eye’ needs to point out towards the room. The eye periodically
scans for movement, so it is essential that it is in the best position to detect
where people are in the room.
4. Activate the Power Strip SAVER SIDE.
Using any infrared remote control point and press any button towards the
eye – you should hear an audible ‘beep’ from the Power Strip which has now
activated power to the SAVER SIDE, the ALWAYS ON side always has power.
5. Operating the Power Strip manually.
You can switch the SAVER SIDE on and off with the black button on the top of
the control box.

Activating the remote control function.
The Power Strip can control the SAVER SIDE’s power supply on and off by
‘learning’ a specific button from your existing TV or DVD remote control.
(We recommend choosing the TV remote control’s ON/OFF button for
convenience)
1. Make sure appliances are plugged into the Power Strip,
connected to the mains and the mains supply is on.
2. Activate the learn mode.
Press and hold the white button on the top of the black ‘control box’ for 10
seconds. After 10 seconds the Power Strip will bleep 3 times. It is now in a
learning mode.
3. Setup any remote control button.
Point your remote control at the black control box and slowly press your
chosen button on the remote control 9 times. Once it has received 9 signals
it will bleep back 3 times to confirm that it is programmed, this may take up
to 30 seconds. That’s it – now that chosen button will turn the Power Strip’s
SAVER SIDE sockets off and on. The Power Strip will remember the button
you have programmed from your remote control even if you turn it off at the
mains for up to 3 weeks.
No bleeps?
If the Power Strip does not bleep 3 times it has not saved the chosen button
command, usually because it has not received the 9 signals. Please REPEAT
step 2 and start the learning sequence again. Also REPEAT this sequence if
you wish to choose a different remote control button.
