Your Black & Decker Dustbuster® handheld vacuum cleaner

has been designed for vacuum cleaning purposes. This

appliance is intended for household use only.

Read all of this manual carefully before operating

the appliance.

Using your appliance

damaged or defective parts. Check for

breakage of parts, damage to switches

Unplug the charger before cleaning the

charger or charging base.

When not in use, the appliance should

be stored in a dry place.

Children should not have access to

stored appliances.

Residual risks.

Additional residual risks may arise when

using the tool which may not be included

in the enclosed safety warnings. These

risks can arise from misuse, prolonged

use etc.

Even with the application of the relevant

safety regulations and the implementa-

tion of safety devices, certain residual

risks can not be avoided. These include:

Batteries and chargers

Batteries

Never attempt to open for any reason.

Do not expose the battery to water.

u

Do not expose the battery to heat.

u

Do not store in locations where the

temperature may exceed 40°C.

u

Charge only at ambient temperatures

between 10°C and 40°C.

u

Charge only using the charger provid-

ed with the appliance. Using the wrong

charger could result in an electric

shock or overheating of the battery.

u

When disposing of batteries, follow

the instructions given in the section

"Protecting the environment".

u

Do not damage/deform the battery

pack either by puncture or impact, as

Do not charge damaged batteries.

Under extreme conditions, battery

leakage may occur. When you notice

liquid on the batteries carefully wipe

the liquid off using a cloth. Avoid skin

contact.

Chargers

Your charger has been designed for a

to charge the battery in the appliance

with which it was supplied. Other bat

able batteries.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must

be replaced by the manufacturer or

an authorised Black & Decker Service

Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

If smoke is seen while charging the

product, immediately unplug the cord

and contact Stanley Black & Decker

customer support at 1577-0933.

If the fault interrupter is activated the

moment the product starts charging

when placed on the charger, stop

charging immediately and contact

customer support.

Be sure to confirm that the cordless

vacuum cleaner has been turned off

before charging it.

u

Do not use multiple products in a single

outlet (power strip) at the same time.

Excessive heat from the outlet may

cause fire. Tripping the breaker may

turn off the power.

u

Unplug the product when it has not

been used for a long time or once

the battery has been fully charged.

May cause electric shock, short

circuit or fire.

u

Using a transformer carries the risk

of electric shock or fire due to

differences in voltage, frequency and

power rating.

u

Discontinue use if the product has

been submerged in water or if water

has entered the product.

Be sure to unplug the product when

cleaning it.

Be sure to unplug the product before

going outside. May cause short circuit

or fire.

Inserting or poking with items such

as chopsticks or screwdrivers may

cause the charging terminal to short

circuit.

Be careful not to let animals gnaw

Maintenance

Your Black & Decker cordless appliance has been designed

to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of main-

tenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon

proper tool care and regular cleaning.

Warning! Before performing any maintenance on cordless

appliances:

uRun the battery down completely if it is integral and then

switch off.

uUnplug the charger before cleaning it. Your charger does

not require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.

uRegularly clean the ventilation slots in your appliance/

charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.

uRegularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth.

Do not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.

Battery

ZIf you want to dispose of the product yourself, the

battery must be removed as described below and

disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

uRun the battery down completely.

uRemove the dust bowl.

uRemove the two screws from inside the tunnel that the

uDetach all lead connections from the battery pack.

uCarefully remove the cover which hold the battery pack in

place.

uRemove battery pack and place in suitable packaging to

ensure that the terminals cannot be short-circuited.

uTake the battery to your service agent or to a local recy -

cling station.
