Function Overview MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0
18
7 Function Overview
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 offers the following functions:
ï‚· Configuration via the web interface
All functions of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can be configured and set via a
web interface. The access to the web interface is protected with a user
name and passwort query. The TCP port which is used to access the web
interface can be set freely.
ï‚· Serial Ethernet gateway
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can output arriving data from a certain network
port at the serial interface. Also, data arriving at the serial interface are
sent to an IP remote terminal. Together with the INSYS VCOM driver, the
Serial Ethernet gateway enables the transparent transmission of a serial
connection via a network.
ï‚· DHCP server
Ethernet devices connected to the switch can obtain their IP addresses
from the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 automatically.
ï‚· DHCP client
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 optionally retrieves IP addresses from the network
automatically at the interface LAN ext.
ï‚· Static IP address
A static IP address can be configured for the interface LAN ext of the Mo-
RoS LAN PRO 2.0.
ï‚· NAT and port forwarding
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 is a router, which can also send data packets via
NAT and port forwarding. According to defined rules, the MoRoS LAN PRO
2.0 will send incoming IP packets to definable ports and port areas at IP
addresses and ports in the LAN.
ï‚· DSL Leased line operation
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can establish and maintain a constant connection
via a DSL ("PPP-over-Ethernet") connection. A DSL modem can be con-
nected via the LAN ext interface. This makes it possible to communicate
with an external network via a "leased line".
ï‚· Periodic DSL connection setup
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can establish and terminate a DSL connection
time-controlled. Fixed times can be set for the connection setup and ter-
mination.
MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 Function Overview
19
ï‚· Dynamic DSL connection setup
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can automatically establish a DSL (PPPoE) connec-
tion, if required. After a defineable idle time or a defineable maximum
connection time, the connection is terminated.
ï‚· Dial filter for DSL connection setup
With the help of the dialing filters, it can be defined which data packets
result in a PPPoE connection setup. Unnecessary connections and costs can
thus be avoided.
ï‚· Digital switch outputs and inputs
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 has two potential-free switch outputs, which can
be used for manual or time-controlled switching in an application. The
MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 also has digital inputs. One input can be used to estab-
lish PPPoE connections.
ï‚· VPN Server
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can function as OpenVPN server. This enables ma-
chines to establish a safe connection to the LAN behind the MoRoS LAN
PRO 2.0 from the outside via an unsafe network.
ï‚· VPN client
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can also connect an entire LAN interception-proof
and interference-proof via an unsafe Internet connection through a VPN
tunnel to another network (e.g. the company network). In this case, the
MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 will connect itself as a Client to an OpenVPN Server.
ï‚· Various VPN authentification methods
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 supports the authentification when connecting to
an OpenVPN server via a static key, a certificate with user name and pass-
word, or just a certificate. The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can also establish an
OpenVPN connection without authentification.
ï‚· Firewall (stateful firewall)
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 firewall enables the limitation of incoming and
outgoing IP connections. "Stateful firewall" means that the MoRoS LAN
PRO 2.0 will automatically adjust the firewall for the data traffic that was
initiated by authorized data packets. This will allow connections also for
protocols with special requirements, e.g. FTP.
ï‚· Dynamic DNS update
After a PPPoE connection to an ISP has been established, the allocated IP
address may be stored at a dynamic DNS service (e.g. DynDNS). The MoRoS
LAN PRO 2.0 can be reached from the Internet.
ï‚· Configurable Ethernet switch
For each port at the switch of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0, the transmission ra-
te, the transmission mode and the LED display for certain network events
may set individually. When set to default settings, the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0
will recognize the settings automatically.
Function Overview MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0
20
ï‚· Port mirroring at the Ethernet switch for analysis purposes
A port at the switch of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can reproduce a copy of the
data at another network port of the switch. At this mirror port, the trans-
mitted data can be read for analysis purposes (e.g. for intrusion detection
systems, problem analysis of end terminals), without affecting the net-
work traffic.
ï‚· Time synchronization via NTP
The MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 has a buffered real-time clock and can synchro-
nize its system time via the Network Time Protocol with an NTP server in
the Internet. The system time will thus always be current and the internal
clock does not need to be set manually. In addition, the time and the date
can be set manually, if no NTP server is available.
ï‚· HTTP and HTTPS proxy with URL filter
The proxy may be used to limit the access to web addresses for applica-
tions in the local network of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0. The MoRoS LAN PRO
2.0 supports the HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
ï‚· Downloadable log files
The system messages of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can be downloaded as
text files via the web interface.
ï‚· Downloadable configuration files
The configuration of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can be downloaded as file.
The files can be used as backup copy to configure the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0
after a factory reset, or for convenient loading of a similar configuration
into different MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0.
ï‚· Firmware update via web interface
The firmware of the MoRoS LAN PRO 2.0 can be updated via the web inter-
face.
