PROGRAMMABLE MAGNETIC EXERBIKE
MONITOR BC-81090 WITH LCD DISPLAY
SUMMARY:
This system is designed for programmable magnetic bike. There are 3 parts to this system the monitor
(BC-81090), motor & controller and magnetic braking system.
A. Power up :
1. Before all, you should connect the connection cables with monitor together.
2. The power supplier to the monitor is 6V/500mA. Please make sure the output of the adaptor is
correct.
3. After power up, all LCD segments will light up for 2 seconds & CPU will be reset the resistance
into level 1. And then the system goes to the clock and date setting mode. After finished the clock
and date setting or without setting any value after 20 seconds, the monitor will goes into the
initial mode. The displays will be shown as fig. 2.
**REMARK: DO NOT CONNECT ANY ( AC, DC ) POWER SUPPLY
BEFORE COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED
1. If the connection cables were installed incorrectly, monitor will display “E1” on matrix display
and generate a beep sound. To release the beep sound, please press “ START / PAUSE (Hold to
reset) “ button or take off the adaptor. Before asking service, please examine if all connection
cables are well connected, and without broken.
2. Using a period of time, if the power source can’t drive the motor and controller smoothly, the
monitor will display a sign of “E1”. Unplug the adaptor and wait for 15 seconds, and then reinstall
the plug of adaptor. If the monitor still shows “E1” and beeps, please call service man.
3. If the monitor shows “ E2 ”message, please call service man.
B. Clock and Date Setting:
1. After power on the monitor, the top of the LCD will display “ PM 12:00 00 01D01M03Y” and the
hour display will flash.
2. Press or \ button to set up the hour value and then press the ENTER button to confirm
your setting value.
3. Minute display will flash. Press or \ button to set up the minute value and then press the
ENTER button to confirm your setting value.
4. The Letter of E will flash. It is means the language is English. Press or \ button to choose
the language you prefer to use. E means English; D means German; F means French; I means
Italian; S means Spanish; A means USA. The indication of date is Month-Day-Year in USA and
the others are Day-Month-Year.
5. The year display will flash. Press or \ button to set up the year value and then press the
ENTER button to confirm your setting value.
6. The month display will flash. Press or \ button to set up the month value and then press
the ENTER button to confirm your setting value.
7. The day display will flash. Press or \ button to set up the day value and then press the
ENTER button to confirm your setting value.
8. The display will go to the program 1.
Note:
If you would like to set alarm, cancel alarm or change clock and date setting, press the or \
button in the stop mode and go to the clock setting program. This program is located behind of the
program 12 and the window will show SET.
a. Hold the START/PAUSE button two seconds to enter the alarm setting. The operating
procedure is same as the clock setting above.
b. Press the START/ PAUSE to choose with alarm or without alarm function. With alarm
function, the window will display the bell picture. Without alarm function, the bell picture will
disappear from the window.
c. Hold the ENTER button two seconds to enter the clock and date modify function. The
operating procedure is same as the clock above.
Note: When take off the adaptor will clear the data of clock and date.
C. KEY BOARD:
1. MODE : Change the display of Speed & Cal. Functions to RPM & Performance value functions,
and keep the other functions as the same.
2. ENTER : During PAUSE mode, press ENTER key to enter Time or Age setting (only in 11th &
12th program).
3. START/PAUSE : To start or pause exercising.
Hold this button for 2 seconds can enter initial mode & reset all value to zero.
4. : Selects Program or sets up the values of load level, time and age. Or set up the values of
clock, date and alarm.
5. \ : Selects Program or sets down the values of load level, time and age. Or set up the values of
clock, date and alarm.
D. FUNCTION OF OPERATION:
This system contains of 12 different programs and you can preset the workout time and system will
divide the time by 10 intervals. If you don’t preset workout time, system will cont up the workout
time in one-second increment. Without setting the workout time, the time will count up and each
interval will retain 3 minutes.
1. DETAIL OPERATION OF PROGRAM 1ST ~ PROGRAM 10TH
a. To enter the initial mode, press the START/STOP key for over 2 seconds.
b. Then press or \ key to choice the exercise program you prefer. The profile will be
displayed on the graphic LCD.
c. After finished program setting, press ENTER key to enter Time setting.
d. The press or \ key to set up your desirous workout time.
e. After finished time setting, press ENTER to exit or press START key to start exercising.
f. When start exercising, your present workout interval will be flashing in rate of 0.5 second on
& 0.5 second off.
g. During exercising you can press or \ key to increase or decrease your workout resistance
freely.
h. Or you can press PAUSE key to enter PAUSE mode and then press START key again to
restart your exercising again.
i. When you finished workout you select, you can press Start button to begin your exercise
again.
2. DETAIL OPERATION OF PROGRAM 11TH ~ PROGRAM 12TH : (Heart-rate-control)
a. During PAUSE mode, press START/PAUSE key for over 2 seconds to enter initial mode.
b. Then press or \ to enter Heart-rate-control program (11TH or 12TH program). And the
screen will show as Fig of program 11 or program 12 at the last page of this instruction
manual.
c. Then press ENTER key to enter Time setting.
d. After that press or \ key to set up your desirous exercise time.
e. Repeat step c & d to set up your age.
f. After completion all setting START/PUASE key to start exercising.
**REMARK : If press PAUSE key for over 256 seconds, system will enter HALT mode and all
displays will turn off automatically.
This is a very unique program. It allows the monitor to adjust the workout resistance according
to your heart rate automatically. If you Present heart rate is greater than your Target heart rate,
CPU will decrease the workout resistance automatically. And if your Present heart rate is smaller
than your Target heart rate, CPU will increase workout resistance.
FORMULA OF PROGRAM 11TH : (60% OF MAX. HEART RATE)
YOUR MAXIMUM HEART RATE = 220 - YOUR AGE
TARGET HEART RATE = 60% * YOUR MAXIMUM HEART RATE
FORMULA OF PROGRAM 12TH : (85% OF MAX. HEART RATE)
YOUR MAXIMUM HEART RATE = 220 - YOUR AGE
TARGET HEART RATE = 85% * YOUR MAXIMUM HEART RATE
E. FUNCTION SPECIFICATION:
After receiving signals, all functional values will be shown up on the screen automatically.
**REMARK :
1. The PULSE rate will be displayed after detected 4 stable pulse signals and it will be updated by
receiving every 2 signals.
2. Each pulse rate signal will be accompanied with one “” symbol flash

F. MOTOR PROTECTION :
This is a warning message to users for reminding them if there’s something wrong with this system.
1. Whenever turn on the power switch, CPU will check if the small motor is at level 1
(Resistance/effort = 1). If not, the monitor will send command to driver motor to level 1.
If there’s no response from the motor, monitor will show “E1” on graphic display.
2. During exercising, if you press or \ key to adjust workout level but the motor does not
response and repeated three times. The monitor will display the “E1” and generate a beep sound.
You can press Start/Pause key to stop the beeping.
**In above condition, it’s better to check if all the connections between monitor and motor are
normal and whether the motor is working well or not. Then you can re-start the monitor. If the
monitor still presents “E1” & beeps, it’s better to call service man.
G. LCD CONTRAST CALIBRATION :
1. During PAUSE mode, press & hold ENTER & keys simultaneously for over 2 seconds to
enter LCD CONTRAST CALIBRATION mode.
2. Then you can press or \ key to adjust the LCD contrast to be lighter or darker.
3. After completion LCD CONTRAST CALIBRATION, press START/PAUSE KEY to exit.
4. There are 16 different LCD contrast level and the default value is in 8TH level.
