BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE
SAFEGUARDING THE ENVIRONMENT
•
Your new appliance is designed for domestic
use only.
To get the most out of your new appliance,
read the user handbook thoroughly. The
handbook contains a description of the
appliance and useful tips for storing food.
Keep this handbook for future consultation.
1.
After unpacking, make sure that the appliance
is undamaged and that the door closes
properly. Any damage must be reported to the
dealer within 24 hours of delivery of the
appliance.
2.
Wait at least two hours before switching the
appliance on in order to ensure the refrigerant
circuit is fully efficient.
3.
Installation of the appliance and electrical
connections must be carried out by a qualified
electrician, in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions and local safety
regulations
4.
Clean the inside of the appliance before using it.
1.Packaging
The packaging material is 100% recyclable and
carries the recycling symbol. For disposal,
comply with the local regulations. Keep the
packaging materials (plastic bags, polystyrene
parts, etc.) out of reach of children, as they are
potentially dangerous.
2.Scrapping
The appliance is manufactured using recyclable
material.
This appliance is marked according to the
European directive 2002/96/EC on Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly,
you will help prevent potential negative
consequences for the environment and human
health, which could otherwise be caused by
inappropriate waste handling of this product.
The symbol on the product, or on the
documents accompanying the product, indicates
that this appliance must not be treated as
household waste. Instead it must be delivered to
a suitable collection centre for the recycling of
electrical and electronic equipment.
Before scrapping, make the appliance unusable
by cutting off the power cable and removing the
doors and shelves so that children cannot easily
climb inside the appliance.
Scrap the appliance in compliance with local
regulations on waste disposal, taking it to a
special collection centre; do not leave the
appliance unattended even for a few days, since
it is a potential source of danger for children. For

Appliances with isobutane (R600a):
Isobutane is a natural gas of low environmental
impact. Caution is required, however, since

gasses listed under the Kyoto Protocol; the

Preparación de alimentos frescos para su congelación
•
Envuelva herméticamente los alimentos frescos que se van a
congelar en: papel de aluminio, film transparente,
contenedores impermeables de plástico, contenedores de
polietileno con tapa o recipientes recomendados para
congelar alimentos.
•
Los alimentos deben ser frescos, maduros y de la mejor
calidad.
•
En la medida de lo posible, la verdura fresca y la fruta deben
congelarse inmediatamente después de la recolección para
conservar las sustancias nutritivas, la estructura, la
consistencia, el color y el sabor.
•
Deje manir la carne y la caza durante el tiempo necesario antes
de congelarla.

Cómo congelar los alimentos
•
Asegúrese de que las paredes verticales del congelador no

Una vez introducidos los alimentos frescos, mantenga la
puerta del congelador cerrada durante 24 horas. Una vez
transcurridas las 24 horas, los alimentos ya están congelados.
Para desactivar la función de congelación rápida, pulse la tecla (

Si no se desactiva manualmente la función, el aparato la desactiva
automáticamente transcurridas 48 horas.

CONSERVACIÓN DE LOS ALIMENTOS

Coloque los alimentos en el congelador debidamente
clasificados.
Se aconseja anotar la fecha de congelación en el paquete para
garantizar el consumo antes de su caducidad.
Tenga cuidado de que los alimentos no dificulten el cierre de
la puerta.
Consejos para conservar los alimentos
ultracongelados
En el momento de comprar alimentos ultracongelados
compruebe que:
El envase o el paquete están intactos. Si no lo están, el
alimento puede haberse deteriorado. Si el paquete está
inflado o presenta manchas de humedad, es posible que
el alimento no se haya conservado en condiciones
óptimas y que haya sufrido un inicio de descongelación.
•
Compre los alimentos ultracongelados por último y
transpórtelos en bolsas térmicas.
•
Guarde los alimentos ultracongelados en el congelador en
cuanto llegue a casa.
•
Evite o reduzca al mínimo las variaciones de temperatura.
•
Respete la fecha de caducidad indicada en el envase.
•
Siga siempre las instrucciones de conservación de los
alimentos ultracongelados que figuran en el envase.
Nota:
Consuma de inmediato los alimentos que se hayan
descongelado total o parcialmente. No los vuelva a congelar,
salvo que estuvieran crudos y los haya cocinado. Una vez
cocinado, el alimento descongelado puede volver a
congelarse.
En caso de corte prolongado en el suministro eléctrico:

No abra la puerta del congelador, salvo para colocar los
acumuladores de frío (si el modelo los incluye) encima de
los alimentos congelados, a la derecha e izquierda del
congelador.
De esta manera, la temperatura aumentará más

RECOMMENDATIONS
•
Use the refrigerator compartment to store
fresh food only and the freezer compartment
to store frozen food, to freeze fresh food, and
to make ice cubes only.
•
After installation, make sure that the
appliance is not standing on the power supply
cable.
•
Do not store glass containers with liquids in
the freezer since they may burst.
•
Do not eat ice cubes or ice lollies immediately
after taking them out of the freezer since they
may cause cold burns.
•
Before carrying out any maintenance or
cleaning, always unplug the appliance or
disconnect the power supply.
•
Make sure that the appliance is not near a heat
source.
•
Do not store or use gasoline or other
flammable liquids and gases in the vicinity of
this or any other home appliance. The
vapours may cause fire or explosion.
•
To ensure proper ventilation leave a space on
both sides and at the top of the refrigerator.
•
Do not cover the vent outlets in the appliance
casing or housing unit.
•
All appliances equipped with an ice maker or
water dispenser must be connected to a
mains water supply that delivers potable
water only (with water pressure between 1.7
and 8.1 bar (25 and 117 PSI)). Ice-makers and/
or water dispensers not directly connected to
the water supply must be filled with drinking
water only.
•
Install and level the appliance on a floor strong
enough to take its weight and in an area
suitable for its size and use.
•
Install the appliance in a dry, well-ventilated
place. The appliance is intended for operation
in environments where ambient
temperatures fall within the following ranges,
depending on the climatic class indicated on
the data plate: The appliance may not work
properly if it is left for a long time at a
temperature outside the specified range.
•
Be careful not to damage the floors when you
move the appliance (e.g. parquet flooring).
•
Do not use mechanical devices or any means
other than those recommended by the
manufacturer to speed up the defrosting
process.
•
Do not damage the refrigerant circuit of the
appliance.

Do not use electrical appliances inside the
freezer compartments, unless such appliances

INSTALLATION
•
Unpack the appliance and ensure that the various elements
(plastic bags, polystyrene pieces, etc.) are well out of the reach
of children.
• Remove the 4 protection pieces inserted between lid
and appliance (A).
•IMPORTANT:
two of the four protection pieces (A)
used to protect the lid during transport must be placed
in the seats provided on the plastic supports for the
condenser, located at the rear of the product(E).
This is necessary in order to ensure the correct distance of the
appliance from the wall.
• The lid will not open while the appliance is working to
reach the correct temperature (for approx. 1 hour).
•
Ensure that the defrosting water drainage plug is correctly
positioned
(C)
.
•
Ensure the lid seal is not damaged or deformed: to right any
deformation, warm the seal with a hair dryer.
•
Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply, ensure
that the voltage corresponds to that given on the rating plate
(D)
.
•
After the freezer has been installed, check that it is not resting
on the mains cable.
•
Install the appliance in a dry, well ventilated room. Avoid
installation near a source of heat or in direct sunlight.
• For best operation of the appliance and in order to avoid
damage when the lid is opened, leave a space of at least
7 cm from the rear wall and 7 cm at the sides.
•
Fit the accessories.
Electrical connection
• Electrical connections must be made in accordance with
local regulations.
•
Data regarding voltage and absorbed power are given on the
rating plate on the rear of the appliance
(D)
.
• Regulations require that the appliance be earthed. The
manufacturer declines all liability for injury to persons
or animals and for damage to property resulting from
failure to observe the above procedures and reminders.
•
If the plug and socket are not of the same type, have the socket
replaced by a qualified electrician.
•
Do not use extension leads or adapters.
Disconnecting the appliance
•
It must be possible to disconnect the appliance by unplugging
it or by means of a two-pole switch fitted upline of the socket.

Sin embargo, los cortes en el suministro eléctrico pueden causar problemas en la conservación

Consejos para ahorrar energía

Switching on the freezer for the first time
•
Plug in the appliance.
•
When the appliance is warm (internal temperature above 0°C),
two lines appear on the digital display (

Thanks to the efficient lid seal, the appliance lid will not
re-open easily immediately after closing.

Freezer compartment temperature adjustment
The appliance is normally factory set for optimum operation at a temperature of -18°C.
To adjust the internal temperature between -17°C and -24°C and set to ECONOMIC
(see paragraph “ECO function”), proceed as follows:

Press one of the two temperature adjustment buttons once (

The digital display (

) will blink, showing the previous temperature setting.

) as required to increase the temperature.
Every time the button is pressed, the value will change by 1°C. During this procedure the

Approximately 5 seconds after the button has been pressed for the last time, the set temperature is
stored, the digital display (

To check the temperature setting at any time, press either one of the temperature adjustment
buttons once. The set value will blink for 5 seconds. after which the internal temperature of the
freezer will be displayed again.
NOTE: In the event of a power failure, settings remain memorised.
The time required for the freezer to reach the set temperature depends on climatic conditions
and the temperature setting selected; in any case temperature adjustments are displayed with
some delay.
ECO function
We recommend using the ECO function when small amounts of food are stored, below the
“e”
level
indicated on the divider .
To set the ECO function:

Press one of the two temperature adjustment buttons once (

INSTALACIÓN

Desembale el aparato y no deje los materiales de embalaje
(bolsas de plástico, trozos de poliestireno, etc.) al alcance de

Control panel lock function
•
This function prevents anyone from inadvertently changing settings.
•
Once this function has been selected, even if a button is pressed the corresponding function is not
activated.
•
To lock the control panel, press buttons (

) simultaneously for about 3 seconds until the
yellow led (

•
To unlock the control panel, proceed in the same way: when the yellow led switches off, the control
panel is no longer locked.
Alarms
• Temperature alarm
Indicates that the internal temperature is above -12°C.
The acoustic alarm sounds and the red LED (

To deactivate the acoustic alarm, press the button (

).
The red LED (

) will stop blinking when the freezer reaches at least -12°C.
• Prolonged power failure alarm
Indicates that the internal temperature has risen above -8°C following a prolonged power failure.
The acoustic alarm is activated, the red led (

) flashes and the digital display (

) flashes, showing the
highest temperature reached during the power failure. Press button (
7
); the digital display shows the
current internal temperature.
• Sensor alarm
Indicates a temperature sensor fault.
The acoustic alarm activates, the red led (
8
) flashes and the digital display shows “SF”. In these
circumstances, contact the After-Sales Service.
NOTE: The temperature alarm may also activate following the introduction of fresh food or if
the lid is left open for a prolonged period of time; it does not affect the storage of already
frozen food in any way.
A power failure, on the other hand, may compromise the correct storage of frozen food; in the
event of a power failure, check that food is still thoroughly frozen.
Energy saving tips
•
Do not install the appliance in places exposed to direct sunlight or near heat sources.
•
Do not obstruct the ventilation grille or the air circulation openings.
•
Remove accumulated dust from the rear of the appliance at least once a year.
•
Select the correct temperature setting.
•
Do not place hot food in the refrigerator.
•
Restrict the number of times you open the lid.
•
Make sure the ice layer does not build up to more than 5-6 mm thick.
•
We recommend using the ECO function when small amounts of food are stored.
Changing the lid light bulb
•
Unplug the appliance from the mains.
•
Remove the diffuser by following the sequence of steps shown
in the figure.
•
Unscrew the light bulb and replace it with an identical bulb of
the same wattage and voltage.
•
Refit the diffuser and plug in the appliance.

FOOD STORAGE
For storing fresh frozen foods, refer to the adjacent
table.
Classification of frozen foods
Put the frozen products into the freezer and classify them.
The storage date should be indicated on the packs, to allow
use within expiry dates.
When you place the food in the freezer, make sure that the
food does not obstruct proper lid closure.
Advice for storing frozen food
When purchasing frozen food products:
Ensure that the packaging is not damaged (frozen food in
damaged packaging may have deteriorated).
If the package is swollen or has damp patches, it may not
have been stored under optimal conditions and defrosting
may have already begun.
•
When shopping, leave frozen food purchases until last and
transport the products in a thermally insulated cool bag.
•
Once at home, place the frozen foods immediately in the
freezer.
•
Avoid, or reduce temperature variations to the minimum.
•
Respect the best-before date on the package.
•
Always observe the storage guidelines on the frozen food
packages.
Note:
Eat fully or partially defrosted foods immediately.
Do not refreeze unless the food is cooked after it has thawed.
Once cooked, the thawed food can be refrozen.
If there is a prolonged power failure:
•
Do not open the freezer lid except to place ice packs
(if available) over the frozen foods on the right and left of
the freezer.
This will slow down the rise in temperature.

FREEZING FOOD
Only use the freezer for storing frozen food, freezing fresh
food and making ice cubes.
Preparation of fresh food for freezing
•
Before freezing, wrap and seal fresh food in: aluminium foil,
cling film, air and water-tight plastic bags, polythene containers
with lids or freezer containers suitable for freezing fresh food.
•
Food must be fresh, mature and of prime quality in order to
obtain high quality frozen food.
•
Fresh vegetables and fruit should preferably be frozen as soon
as they are picked to maintain the full original nutritional value,
consistency, colour and flavour.
•
Some meat, especially game, should be hung before it is
frozen.
•
Always leave hot food to cool before placing in the freezer.
Freezing food
•
Defrost the appliance when ice-build up on the freezer walls is
excessive. (see chapter “How to defrost the freezer”).
•
For optimum freezing, select the fast freeze function several
hours before placing fresh food in the freezer.
This is not necessary when freezing small amounts of food
(2-3 Kg).
To use the appliance's maximum freezing capacity,
specified on the data plate (see chapter“Installation”),
activate the fast freeze function 24 hours before placing
food in the freezer.
•
To select the fast freeze function, press button (

). The yellow

•
Place foods to be frozen in direct contact with the walls of the
freezer, as shown in the figure below:

- foods already frozen.
•
Avoid placing foods to be frozen in direct contact with food
already frozen.
•
For best and fastest freezing, foods should be split into small
portions; this will also be useful when the frozen items are to
be used.
•
After placing fresh food in the freezer, keep the appliance lid
closed for 24 hours. Food will be fully frozen after this period
of time.
To deactivate the fast freeze function, press button (

); if it is not
deactivated in this way, the appliance automatically switches off
the fast freeze function after approximately 48 hours.

HOW TO DEFROST THE FREEZER
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The appliance should be defrosted when the thickness of ice
on the walls reaches 5-6 mm.
•
Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply.
•
Remove the packs of food from the freezer and wrap
them close together in newspaper. Store in a very cool
place or thermally insulated bag.
•
Leave the freezer lid open.
•
Remove the internal defrost water drain plug.
•
Remove the external defrost water drain plug and
position it as shown in the figure
(A)
.
•
Place a bowl beneath the drainage channel to collect the
residual water. If available, use the divider
(B)
.
•
Speed up defrosting by using a spatula to detach the ice
from the freezer walls.
•
Remove the ice from the bottom of the freezer.
• In order to avoid permanent damage to the freezer
interior, do not use pointed or sharp metal
instruments for removing the ice.
• Do not use abrasive products or heat up the
interior artificially.
• Dry the interior of the freezer thoroughly.
•
On completion of the defrosting, refit the plug.
•
Plug in the appliance again and switch on following the
instructions (see chapter “Operating instructions”).
To obtain the best results from your appliance, carry
out cleaning and maintenance at least once a year.
•
Remove the ice from the upper edge.
•
Clean the inside after defrosting, using a sponge
dampened with warm water and/or mild detergent.
•
Clean the motor cooling grille (depending on model).
•
Remove dust from the condenser on the rear of the
appliance.
Note:
Before carrying out maintenance, unplug the
appliance.
Do not use abrasive products, scourers or stain-
removers (e.g. acetone, trichloroethylene) to clean the
appliance.

OPSPOREN VAN STORINGEN

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Check the door is closed properly and that it
has not been left open for a lengthy period of
time.

Check no fresh food has been placed in the
freezer recently.

9. Condensation forms on the external
walls of the freezer.

It is normal for condensation to form under
certain atmospheric conditions (humidity
above 85%) or if the appliance is located in a
damp or poorly ventilated room. However,
this in no way affects the performance of the
freezer.
10.The layer of ice on the internal walls of
the freezer is not uniform.
•
This phenomenon is quite normal.

Warning - this appliance must be earthed
Fuse replacement
If the mains lead of this appliance is fitted with a BS 1363A
13amp fused plug, to change a fuse in this type of plug use an
A.S.T.A. approved fuse to BS 1362 type and proceed as follows:
1.
Remove the fuse cover (

) and fuse (
B
).
2.
Fit replacement 13A fuse into fuse cover.
3.
Refit both into plug.
Important:
The fuse cover must be refitted when changing a fuse and if the
fuse cover is lost the plug must not be used until a correct
replacement is fitted.
Correct replacement are identified by the colour insert or the
colour embossed in words on the base of the plug.
Replacement fuse covers are available from your local electrical
store.
2) For the Republic of Ireland only
The information given in respect of Great Britain will frequently
apply, but a third type of plug and socket is also used, the
2-pin, side earth type.
3) Socket outlet / plug (valid for both countries)
If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlet, please
contact Whirlpool Service for further instruction. Please do not
attempt to change plug yourself. This procedure needs to be
carried out by a qualified Whirlpool technician in compliance
with the manufactures instructions and current standard safety
regulations.

ONTDOOIEN VAN DE VRIEZER
REINIGING EN ONDERHOUD
Wij raden u aan de vriezer te ontdooien wanneer het ijs op de
wanden 5-6 mm dik is geworden.
•
Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact.
•
Haal de pakjes uit de vriezer, wikkel ze strak tegen elkaar
in kranten en berg ze op op een koele plaats of in een
isolerende tas.
•
Laat de deur van de vriezer open.
•
Verwijder de binnendop van het afvoerkanaal.
•
Verwijder de buitendop van het afvoerkanaal en plaats
hem zoals aangegeven is op afbeelding
(A)
.
•
Zet een bak onder het afvoerkanaal om het restwater op
te vangen. Gebruik hiervoor, indien beschikbaar, de
afscheider

•
U kunt het ontdooien versnellen door met een spatel het
ijs op de wanden van de vriezer los te maken.
•
Verwijder het ijs van de bodem van de vriezer.
• Gebruik, om onherstelbare schade aan het vriesvak
te voorkomen, geen puntige of scherpe metalen
voorwerpen om het ijs te verwijderen.
• Gebruik geen schuurmiddelen en verwarm het
vriesvak niet kunstmatig.
• Droog de binnenkant van de vriezer zorgvuldig.
•
Plaats na afloop van het ontdooien de dop weer in zijn
behuizing.
•
Steek de stekker weer in het stopcontact en volg de
aanwijzingen voor het ingebruiknemen van het apparaat
(zie het hoofdstuk “Richtlijnen voor de functionering”).
Om het apparaat optimaal te laten functioneren, is het
raadzaam ten minste eenmaal per jaar reinigings- en
onderhoudswerkzaamheden uit te voeren.
•
Verwijder het ijs op de bovenrand.
•
Reinig bij het ontdooien de binnenkant met een vochtige
spons met lauw water en/of een neutraal
schoonmaakmiddel.
•
Reinig het ventilatierooster van de motor (indien
aanwezig).
•
Verwijder het stof van de condensator aan de achterkant
van het apparaat.
Opmerking:
Voordat u begint met het onderhoud van uw apparaat,
dient u de stekker uit het stopcontact te halen.
Gebruik geen schuurpasta's of schuursponsjes,
vlekkenmiddelen (bv. aceton, trichloorethyleen), of
