n Do not place near hot gas or electric burner.
n Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
n To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not
immerse plug, cord, or housing in water or other
liquid.
n Allow to cool before putting on or taking off filter
ground basket.
n Do not use an extension cord with this unit. However,
if one is used, it must have a rating equal to or
exceeding the rating of this appliance.
n Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp
the plug, not the cord.
n Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
n Always unplug the unit before attempting to move
it. Extreme caution must be used when moving
appliances containing hot liquids.
n The Deni Coffee Urn has a 3-prong plug which fits
into a standard grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do
not cut or remove the third prong from the plug.
If an adaptor is used, be sure adaptor wire and wall
outlet are grounded. If there is any doubt as to
whether or not the outlet is properly grounded,
consult a qualified electrician.
n This unit is for commercial and household (indoor)
use only.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using this electrical appliance, safety
precautions should always be observed, including
the following:
n Read all of the instructions.
n Make sure the appliance is off before unplug-
ging, when not in use, and before cleaning and
removing parts.
n Do not use outdoors or on a wet surface.
n Do not allow children near appliance. Close
supervision is necessary when used near children.
n Place the Coffee Urn securely in the center of the
counter or work space.
n Coffee Urn should not be used for other than the
intended use.
n Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If the
appliance is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped
into water, return it to Keystone Manufacturing
Company, Inc. for proper service and replacement
or repair.
n Do not do the following: pull or carry by the cord,
use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, pull
cord around sharp edges or corners, let cord hang
over edge of counter, operate appliance over cord.
Keep cord away from heated surface.

BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Remove all packing materials and literature.
2. Operate the coffee urn once with water to remove
impurities that may effect the taste of the coffee.
3. Wash the stem, ground basket, and lid with hot
soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
HOW TO OPERATE
1. Remove lid, ground basket, and stem.
2. Fill the coffee urn with cold water until the desired
level has been reached on the water indicator.
Note: Do not make less than 12 cups or more
than 40 cups at a time.
3. Place the stem into the heating well, located in
the center of the bottom of the urn.
4. Put the ground basket on the stem and pour the
coffee grounds into the basket. Make sure the
grounds are evenly spread.
5. Place the cover on the coffee urn.
6. Plug the cord into a wall outlet. Push the On/Off
switch to the On position.
7. The coffee urn will stop automatically. Note: Each
cup of coffee takes about 1 minute to brew.
8. The coffee will remain at the serving temperature,
as long as the urn is plugged in.
9. To serve, place a cup under the faucet and press
and hold down the faucet handle, until the cup is
filled. If a continuous flow is desired to fill a
carafe, lift the faucet handle straight up until the
desired amount of coffee is poured. Press the
handle back down to stop.
TO HEAT WATER
1. Fill the clean coffee urn with cold water, to the
desired cup level.
2. Place the stem and empty ground basket into
place. Note: Using the stem and ground basket
will heat the water faster and more evenly.
3. Place the cover on the coffee urn.
4. Plug the unit in and allow it to complete a perking
cycle. The indicator light will illuminate when the
water is ready for serving.
Note: Using the coffee urn to heat water only, will
discolor the metal inside. This is normal. To remove
discoloration, refer to the cleaning section in this
manual.

HOW TO CLEAN
Clean the coffee urn after each use in order to keep
it working properly. If the coffee urn is used daily, it
is necessary to clean with vinegar every two weeks
or every week if necessary.
1. Unplug the coffee urn and allow the urn and coffee
to cool before cleaning.
2. Wash the stem, ground basket, and lid with hot
soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
3. Fill the urn one-third of the way with hot water.
Add a small amount of dish soap and wash with a
soft cloth or sponge.
4. Clean the heating well with a scouring pad to
remove the coffee residue.
5. Rinse and drain the inside of the urn.
6. Clean the faucet by letting clear water run through
it, while moving the handle up and down.
7. Wipe the outside of the urn with a soft damp cloth.
Do not use abrasive scouring pads on the outside,
to prevent scratches.
REMOVING MINERAL DEPOSITS AND BUILD-UP
1. If the coffee urn is used daily, it is necessary to
clean every two weeks or every week if necessary.
2. Fill the urn with 1 quart of water and 1 quart of
white vinegar.
3. Place stem, ground basket, and lid into place.
4. Plug the unit in and allow it to go through the
perking cycle. Let stand for 15 minutes.
5. Unplug and drain coffee urn.
6. Allow to cool and then follow cleaning instructions.
REMOVING DISCOLORATION
1. Fill the urn with water to the MAX level.
2. Place stem and ground basket into place.
3. Add 3

/2 tsp. cream of tartar into the basket.
4. Place lid onto urn.
5. Plug the unit in and allow it to go through the
perking cycle. Let stand for 15 minutes or until
discoloration is lightened.
6. Unplug and drain coffee urn.
7. Allow to cool and then follow cleaning instructions.
HINTS AND TIPS
n For best results, use medium coarseness coffee
grounds. Do not use drip or fine coffee grounds,
to avoid overflow of the basket.

receipt against all defects in material and workmanship. Should your appliance
