caughtinastormwhiledrivingaClubCarvehicle,exitthevehicleandseekshelterinaccordancewith
applicablesafetyguidelinesforyourlocation.
WARNING
Followtheproceduresexactlyasstatedinthismanual,andheedallDANGER,WARNING,and
CAUTIONstatementsinthismanualaswellasthoseonthevehicleandbatterycharger.
Donotleavechildrenunattendedonvehicle.
Priortoleavingthevehicleunattendedorservicingthevehicle,settheparkbrake,placethe
Forward/ReversehandleorswitchintheNEUTRALposition,turnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition,
andremovethekey.Chockthewheelswhenservicingthevehicle.
Improperuseofthevehicleorfailuretoproperlymaintainitcouldresultindecreasedvehicle

Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicleorbatterycharger.Anyonedoingeven

Disconnectbatterycables,negative(–)cablerst(Figure2).
Disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthesparkplug.
FramegroundDonotallowtoolsorothermetalobjectstocontactframewhendisconnectingbattery
cablesorotherelectricalwiring.Donotallowapositivewiretotouchthevehicleframe,engine,or
anyothermetalcomponent.
Wearsafetyglassesorapprovedeyeprotectionwhenservicingthevehicleorbatterycharger.Weara
fullfaceshieldandrubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthe
vehicleorbatterycharger.
Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.

DonotshifttheForward/Reversehandleorswitchwhilethevehicleisinmotion.Toavoidinjuryto
anunsuspectingpassengerordamagetothevehicle,alwaysbringthevehicletoafullstopbefore
shiftingthehandleorswitch.
Releasetheacceleratorpedalandthenpressthebrakepedalrmlyuntilthevehiclestops.To
avoidunintentionallystartingorrollingthevehicle,settheparkbrake,placetheForward/Reverse
handleorswitchintheNEUTRALposition,turnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition,andremovethe

FORWARD/REVERSECONTROL
GasolineVehicles
TheForward/Reversehandle(2)islocatedontheright-handsideoftheinstrumentpanel(Figure4).Thehandlehas
threedistinctpositions:F(FORWARD),N(NEUTRAL),andR(REVERSE).Pushthehandleuptooperatethevehicle
intheforwarddirection,orpullthehandledowntooperatethevehicleinreverse.ClubCarvehiclesoperateatreduced
speedinreverse.ThereversebuzzerwillsoundasawarningwhentheForward/ReversehandleisintheREVERSE
position.TheenginewillnotrunwhenthehandleisintheNEUTRALposition.

sideoftheswitchwiththeheadlightsymboltoturntheheadlightsonandpresstheothersidetoturntheheadlightsoff.

LOWOILWARNINGLIGHT
Thegasolinevehicleisequippedwithalowoilwarninglight(4),locatedontheinstrumentpaneljustabovethesteering
column(Figure4).Ifthewarninglightcomeson,oilshouldbecheckedandaddedtotheengineasnecessarybefore
continuingtousethevehicle.Thevehicleshouldneverbedrivenwhenthelowoilwarninglightremainson.Ifthe
warninglightgoesonandoff,thevehiclemaybedriven,butoilshouldbeaddedattherstopportunity.Iftheoillevel
iscorrectandthewarninglightstayson,haveatrainedtechniciancheckthevehicle.

enginedamage.
FUELGAUGE/HOURMETER
Thegasolinevehicleisequippedwithafuelgauge/hourmeter(5),locatedontheinstrumentpanel(Figure4).The
fuelgaugeallowstheoperatortomonitorthefuellevelinthevehicle.Thehourmetershouldbeusedbythetrained
techniciantotrackvehicleusageanddeterminewhenperiodicserviceproceduresarerequired.SeePeriodic
ServiceScheduleonpage30.
ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure5).Theoperationofthe
acceleratorpedaldiffersfromthatofanautomobile:
WhenthekeyswitchisintheONposition,andtheForward/ReversehandleorswitchisineithertheFORWARDor
REVERSEposition,pressingtheacceleratorpedalwillautomaticallyreleasetheparkbrakeandstartthevehicle
movinginthedirectionselected(forwardorreverse).Whentheacceleratorisreleased,powerwillbecutoffandthe
motororenginewillstoprunning.

Theparkbrakewillreleaseautomaticallywheneithertheacceleratororbrakepedalispressed.The

CHOKE
Thechokeislocatedontheseatsupportpanelbelowandtotheleftofthedriver’sleftknee.Ifthevehicleishardto
startincoolorcoldtemperatures,activatethechoke:
Pulloutthechokecable.Holdchokecableoutduringstart-upandreleaseitaftertheenginestartsandruns
smoothly(Figure9).

EachClubCarvehiclehasbeenthoroughlyinspectedandadjustedatthefactory;however,uponreceivingyournew
vehicle(s),youshouldbecomefamiliarwithitscontrols,indicators,andoperation.Carefullyinspecteachvehicleto
ensurethatitisinproperworkingconditionbeforeacceptingdelivery.
Usethefollowingchecklistasaguidetoinspectthevehicle.Thislistshouldbeuseddailyandinconjunctionwiththe
PerformanceInspectiononpage18andthePeriodicServiceScheduleonpage30toensurethatthevehicleisin
properworkingcondition.AnyproblemsshouldbecorrectedbyaClubCardistributor/dealeroratrainedtechnician.
Donotoperatethevehicleuntiltheuppercabinet,canopy,andwindshieldhavebeeninstalled.SeeCafeExpress
