Operation
Safe HandlingOf Gasoline:

yourclotheswhichcan ignite.

Positioning the Edger HandJes
1. Removeand discardanypackagingcardboardthat
maybepresentbetweentheupperhandleandthe
lowerhandle.
2. Depressthebladecontrolatthetopoftheupper
handleandpivottheupperhandleupwarduntilit
snapsintoplace.
3. Tightenthehandknobs,whichare locatedon boththe
leftand rightsidesof thehandle.SeeFigure2.
Attaching the Starter Rope
1. Locatetheropeguidefoundon therightsideofthe
upperhandle.
2. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,thewingknobwhich
securestheropeguideto theupperhandle.See
Figure1.
3. Standbehindtheunitand holdthebladecontrol
againsttheupperhandleandgentlypullthestarter
ropeoutof theengine.

Theedgerdrivebeltissubjecttowearandshouldbe

arepresent.Toreplacethebelt,proceedasfollows:
1. Workinginfrontoftheedger,loosentheflange
locknutontopofframe,allowingtheidlerpulley
assemblytopivotslightlyoutfromtheframe.See
Figure10.
2. With yourotherhand,carefullyreachunderthe
rearoftheunitandremovethebeltfromaroundthe
engineflywheelpulley.
3. Removethespindlesheavesbeltguardbyremoving
thetwoself=tappingscrewswhichsecureittothe
bladeplateassembly.SeeFigure10.
4. Carefullyremovethebeltfromoff ofthepulleys,
againmakingsureto notetheorientationofthebelt.
Discardthebelt.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthat the"V"sideofthebelt
isseatedintothetoppulleyandthefiatsideofthe beltis
seatedintothebottompulley.
6. Reinstallthespindlesheavesbeltguardwiththeself
tappingscrewsremovedearlier.
7. Makecertainthat thedrivebeltison theengine
flywheelpulleyandidlerpulleys,andretightenthe
flangelocknuton thetopoftheframe.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthat thedrivebeltis seated
correctlyand thatitis ridingsmoothlyon thespindle
sheavesandisnotpinchedbetweenthem.Repeatthe
firstthreestepsifthebeltispinched.
WARNING: Neveroperatethe edger
without the spindle sheavesbelt guard
in place.
Installthereplacementbelt(PartNo.754_04032B)inthe
sameconfigurationthattheoriginalbeltwasroutedas
