2. Safety Symbol Definitions
Means Warning! Watch Out! There are possible hazards
with this procedure! The possible hazards are shown in
the adjoining symbols.
Have only trained and qualified persons install, operate,
or service this unit. Call your distributor if you do not un-
derstand the directions. For WELDING SAFETY and
EMF information, read wire feeder and welding power
source manuals.
Beware of electric shock from welding electrode or wiring.
Touching the electrode while in contact with the work or
ground can cause electric shock. Always wear dry
gloves. Keep all panels and covers closed.
Wear safety glasses with side shields.
3. Connections And Circuit Breaker CB1
ST-801 589
1 115 Volts AC/Remote Contac-
tor 17-Pin Plug
Use to make 115 volts ac/remote
contactor connections to welding
power source (see Section 5 for pin
data).
2 Remote 14 Receptacle
Use to make 24 volts ac input pow-
er connections to wire feeder (see
Section 4 for pin data).
3 Circuit Breaker CB1
CB1 protects adapter from damage
due to overload.
If CB1 opens, the wire feeder does
not work. Reset breaker.

7. Moving Jumper Plug To Match Wire Feeder To Welding Power Source
ST-801 594
Y Turn off welding power
source and wire feeder. Un-
plug unit from feeder and
power source.
The ATC-24 is factory set to use a
standard PD22, PD22P12, or PD60
wire feeder with an older model
400SM or 630SMP with a 17-pin re-
ceptacle. If a remote voltage control
option is used on the wire feeder or
if a 400SMT with a 17-pin recep-
tacle is used, then move the jumper
plug as follows:
Remove wrapper from unit.
Find connector and the three free-
hanging jumper plugs in the wiring
harness.
For 17-pin Model 400SM or
630SMP used with a PD22,
PD22P12, or PD60 with optional re-
mote voltage control:
1 Disconnect jumper plug
labeled “400SM w/front panel
control” from the receptacle.
2 Connect jumper plug labeled
“400SM w/remote control” to
receptacle.
3 Reinstall wrapper.
For 17-pin Model 400SMT used
with a PD22, PD22P12, or PD60
with or without optional remote
voltage control:
1 Disconnect jumper plug la-
beled “400SM w/front panel
control” from the receptacle.
2 Connect jumper plug labeled
“400SMT” to receptacle.
3 Reinstall wrapper.
Resume operation. For use with
competitive welding power
sources, call PowCon Technical
Service.
