1. HolddowntheTimeButtonuntilthedigitalsecondsash.
2. PresstheCompassButtontoscrollthroughminutes,hours,year,monthand
dateaswellasdateformat(bothmonthanddateashing),timeformat(12
hourto24hour)andseconds.
3. UsetheDayButtontoincreasetothedesiredvalue.Holditdowntoquickly
increasethevalue.
4. PresstheDateButtontoreturntothepreviousdisplay.

1. PresstheDateButtontoswitchontheDatedisplay.
2. Thedisplaywillshowfor2seconds,thenwillturnoffautomatically.

1. PresstheDayButtontoswitchontheDayoftheWeekdisplay.

PRECAUTIONS AND TIPS FOR USING THE COMPASS
1. Keep the watch away from any magnets or appliances that contain magnets
orgeneratemagneticeldssuchasmobilephones,speakers,motors,etc.
2. Thiswatchpointstothemagneticnorth,whichisslightlydifferentfrom
thetruenorth.Checkthe«WhatisMagneticDeclination»sectionformore
details,page52-55.
3. Performthecompasscalibrationfrequently,orunderthefollowingcondi-
tions:
• Firsttimeusingthecompass,
• Whenthemeasuringresultissuspectedtobeincorrect,
• Whenthebatteryhasbeenreplaced,
• Whenthewatchisinadifferentlocationfromwhereitwaspreviously
calibrated.

COMPASS DISPLAY
1. PresstheCompassButtontoswitchonthecompassdisplay.
2. The compass bearing in degrees as an arrow indicator under the Wenger
crosswilldisplay.
3. Thedisplaywillshowfor30seconds,thenturnoffautomatically.
10 CALIBRATING THE COMPASS
1. Use«MagneticDeclinationbyMajorCity»todeterminedeclinationangle,
page52-55.
2. HolddowntheCompassButtonfor3secondstoselectsettingdisplay.
3. Whenthe«CAL»isdisplayed,keepthewatchparalleltothehorizon,and
steadily rotate the watch clockwise for two full rotations (the indicators will
moveinaclockwisedirectionautomatically).
4. Afterthetworotations,therststepofthecalibrationiscompleted.
5. Whiletheindicatorsarestillmoving,presstheCompassButtontosetthe
MagneticDeclination.
6. Use the Day Button to increase the setting (from –90 to 90) until the
desiredsettingappears.
7. Whencompleted,presstheDateButtontoreturntotheprevioussetting.

TAKING A COMPASS MEASUREMENT
1. Thewatchmustbeparallelwiththehorizonforaccuratereading.
2. Point the Wenger cross toward the object or direction you intend to go and
presstheCompassButton.
3. The compass bearing of the target will show in
degrees:
= North
90° = East
180° = South
270° = West

Compass Bearing – the horizontal direction of an object as measured by the
observerindegrees.
Compass Direction – the path given by a compass using the four cardinal
pointsincludingNorth,South,East&West.

WHAT IS MAGNETIC DECLINATION?
• TheMagneticNorthPoleisslightlydifferentfromtheTrueNorthPole.This
watchpointstotheMagneticNorthPole.
• TheangulardifferencebetweentheMagneticNorthPoleandtheTrueNorth
PoleiscalledMagneticDeclination.Theamount(degreesandminutes)and
direction(easterlyandwesterly)dependsonwhereyouareintheworld.

• Forseriouscompassusersorpeoplewhointendtoperformaccuratenaviga-
tion,thecompassmustbeadjustedtoincludethemagneticdeclination.This
watchincludesacompensationsettingforMagneticDeclination.Seethe
«CalibratingtheCompass»section,page52-55.

• Compensateforanobject’sbearingbysubtractingwesterlymagneticdecli-
nationoraddingeasterlymagneticdeclinationwiththemagneticbearing.
Example 1
- Westerlymagneticdeclination=23°,Magneticbearing=323°.
- Truebearing:323°-23°=300°.
Example 2
- Easterlymagneticdeclination=22°,Magneticbearing=278°.
- Truebearing:278°+22°=300°.
• Thiswatchwillcompensatethecompassbearingautomaticallyiftheuser
inputs the magnetic declination angle into the watch at the Magnetic Decli-
nationsettingmode.
• Checkthe«CalibratingtheCompass»sectionformoredetailsofthecalibra-
tion.
