Thispreamplifierisaprecisiondevice,designedinanefforttoprovidethelistenerwith
unmatchedsoundqualitythroughsuperbdesignandconstruction.
Althoughitsoperationisfairlysimple,inordertooperateyourpreamplifierproperlyandto
realizeallofthecapabilitiesoftheCP werecommendthatyoureadthisentiremanual
carefully.

dealerifthevoltagemustbechanged.Fusespecificationsarelistedbelowthereceptacle,
andthefusecanbechangedbyunpluggingthelinecord,pullingoutthefusedrawerand
clippinginanewfuse.

betweenthevolumesettingforleft,rightorbothchannels,indicatedbythelightsunderneath
thedigitdisplay.
: Thedigitdisplayshowsthecurrentlyselectedvolumesetting. Thelightsunderneaththe
digitindicatewhichvalueisselected. ThereadoutisindBofattenuation,thereforeahigher
numberindicatesaloweroutputlevel.Iftheoutputismutedthedisplaywillflashrepeatedly.

TheCP canbeoperatedbyremotecontrol. TheMX-450LearningRemoteis
includedwiththeamplifier.ForinstructionsonusingtheMX-450itselfseethe
onscreenmanualincludedintheremote.

TheCPsphonoinputstagehasadjustableloadingparameters. Theloadingswitchesarea
redDIP switchblocklocatedontheprintedcircuitboardinsidethepreamplifiernearthe
balancedinputjacks.
ToopentheCP,useahexwrenchtoremovetheboltsretainingthetopcover.Checkthesize
ofyourwrenchbeforebeginning. Anundersizedwrenchwillstriptheheadsofthefasteners.
Besuretosetthecovertop-sideupwhenremovedtoavoidscratchingthefinish.
TheDIP blockadjustsbothloadingcapacitanceandresistance. Theswitchesaresetin
stereopairs,e.g.1&8toadd1000PFtobothchannels,2&7toadd200PF,etc. The
componentsareswitchedinparallelwiththebuilt-invaluesof47kOhmsand50pF. Thefinal
capacitanceisthesumof20pFandthetwocapacitorsettings. Thefinalresistanceisas
follows:
1/Rtotal=(1/47000)+(1/R1)+(1/R2)
ThetwoslideswitchestoeithersideoftheDIP blockadd20dBofgaintoeachchannel.By
defaulttheyaredisabled.
Caution: TheCP containsdangeroushighvoltagesduringoperation,andexceptforthe
loadingsettingshasnouserserviceablepartsinside.Exceptwhenadjustingtheloading
youshouldneveropenthepreamplifier.BeforeopeningtheCP ensurethatthe AClinecord
iscompletelydisconnected.

asimpledustingmaybeallthatisrequired.Ifacleanerisnecessary,anydilutecommercial
ammoniabasedproductwillbeappropriate.NEVERuseanyabrasiverags,cleanersor
chemicalsolventsonCodaproducts.
Whenhandlingtheunit,takecarenottomarthealuminum. Aluminumisamediumhardness
metalandcanbescratchedbythehardertoolsteels.
Avoidexposingtheunittodirectsunlight,andkeepitawayfromsourcesofintenseheat.
Donotthrowawaythecartonorassociatedpackingmaterial. Theyareidealifyouneedto
packtheunitformovingandintheunlikelyeventthatservicingisneeded,theywillbe
necessaryforsafeshipment.

I.Warranty- AnyfailureoftheCodaproduct,hereafterknownastheproductororiginal
product,tooperateortomeetspecifications,applicableattimeofmanufacture,duetoa
manufacturingdefectorcomponentfailure,willbecorrectedbyCoda Technologieswithout
chargeforpartsorlabor,foraperiodoftenyearsfromdateoforiginalpurchase.Coda
Technologieswillprovideforsurfacetransportationtoandfromthefactoryforaperiodofone
yearfromdateoforiginalpurchase.
II.Procedure-IftheproductshouldrequireserviceunderwarrantycontactCoda
Technologiesatthelocationonthebackcoverofthismanualforshippinginstructions.
ProductspurchasedoutsideoftheUnitedStateswillbecoveredbythewarrantyconditions
extendedbytheimportingdistributorwhichmaydifferfromthosegivenabove.
III.ExclusionofCoverage-Coda Technologiesisnotobligatedtoservicetheproductin

IV. TotalLossandReplacement-Iftheproductissubmittedforserviceduetoasevere
malfunctionwhichhascauseddamagesufficientenoughtomakearepairattemptinfeasible,
theproductwillbereplacedwithanotherunitofequalorsuperiorspecifications.Coda
Technologiesproductlineisfrequentlyupdatedandchanged,andthespecificmodeland
versionoftheoriginalproductmaybediscontinuedatanytimewithoutnotice.Inthiscaseno
guaranteesaremadethatthereplacementunitwillbevisuallysimilartotheoriginalproduct.
V.SubjectiveDifferences-Noguaranteeismadethattheproductwillperformtoany
specificationsthatcannotbemeasuredandconfirmedwithprecisionaudioanalysis
equipment.Coda Technologiesisonlyobligatedtomakerepairswhichwillbringtheproduct
intocompliancewiththespecificationsstatedinthismanual.
