thesecureharddrive).
Productdescription
Thesecureharddriveisaportable,light-weight,andhigh-speedUSB(UniversalSerialBus)3.0standard
optionthatoffershigh-leveldatasecurity.YoucantransferdatausingtheintegratedUSBcableonthe
secureharddriveortheprovidedUSB3.0Ycable.InadditiontoregularUSB3.0harddiskdrivefunctions,it
alsoprovidesyouwithaneasy-to-usefulldiskencryptionsolution.Allthefunctionsareintegratedintothe
secureharddrive;therefore,youcanaccessthesecureharddriveandmanagepasswordswithoutusing
othersoftwareapplications.
Thesecureharddrivehasthreeworkingmodes:standbymode,administratormode,andusermode.For

Togetreliableperformanceofthesecureharddrive,makesurethattheintegratedUSBcableonthe
secureharddriveortheprovidedUSB3.0YcableisconnectedtotheUSBconnectorsonyourcomputer
ortoanac-poweredUSBhub.Donotconnectthetwocablestoanon-ac-poweredUSBhub.
Installingthesecureharddrive
Toinstallthesecureharddrive,dooneofthefollowing:
ConnecttheintegratedUSBcableonthesecureharddrivetoaUSB2.0orUSB3.0connectoronyour
computer.Whentheconnectionisestablished,thestatusLEDturnsred.

Enteringandexitingtheworkingmodes
Thissectionprovidesinformationabouthowtoenterandexitstandbymode,administratormode,anduser
modeofthesecureharddrive.
Enteringstandbymode
Standbymodeisthedefaultworkingmodeofthesecureharddrive.Inthismode,thesecureharddrive
islocked;therefore,itcannotberecognizedbytheoperatingsystem.However,standbymodeenables
youtoenterandswitchbetweenadministratormodeandusermode.
Toenterstandbymode,connectthesecureharddrivetoyourcomputer.WhenthestatusLEDturnsred,it
indicatesthatthesecureharddrivegoesintostandbymode.Formoreinformationabouthowtoconnectthe
secureharddrive,referto“Installingthesecureharddrive”onpage3
.
Note:Toswitchbetweenadministratormodeandusermode,youarerequiredtorstlyswitchtostandby

Enteringadministratormode
Inadministratormode,youcanchangetheadministratorpassword,createupto10userpasswords,delete
alluserpasswords,andsettheauto-lockfunction.Formoreinformation,see“Passwordmanagement”on

and“Lockthesecureharddrivewiththeauto-lockfunction”onpage8.Thesecureharddriveis
lockedinthismode;therefore,itcannotberecognizedbytheoperatingsystem.
Toenteradministratormode,dothefollowing:
1.Connectthesecureharddrivetoyourcomputer.WhenthestatusLEDturnsred,itindicatesthatthe
secureharddrivegoesintostandbymode.Formoreinformationabouthowtoconnectthesecurehard

2.Hold+0forvesecondsuntilthestatusLEDashesinred.Thisindicatesthatyoucaninputthe
administratorpassword.
3.Inputtheadministratorpasswordandpresstoenteradministratormode.Thedefaultadministrator
passwordis12345678.WhenthestatusLEDturnsblue,itindicatesthatthesecureharddrivegoes
intoadministratormode.
Note:IfthestatusLEDashesinredforafewsecondsafteryouinputtheadministratorpassword,it
indicatesthatthesecureharddrivehasreturnedtostandbymode.Youneedtogobacktostep2to
enteradministratormodeagain.Thisproblemiscausedbyoneofthefollowingreasons:

Inusermode,youcanaccessthesecureharddriveandchangethecurrentuserpassword.Thesecurehard
driveisunlockedinthismode;therefore,youcanuseittotransferdata.
Toenterusermode,dothefollowing:
1.Connectthesecureharddrivetoyourcomputer.WhenthestatusLEDturnsred,itindicatesthatthe
secureharddrivegoesintostandbymode.Formoreinformationabouthowtoconnectthesecurehard
drive,referto“Installingthesecureharddrive”onpage3
.
2.Inputtheuserpasswordortheadministratorpassword,andthenpress.WhenthestatusLEDturns
green,itindicatesthatthesecureharddrivegoesintousermode.IfthestatusLEDashesinred,this
indicatesthatanincorrectpasswordisinput.Youcanchooseeithertoinputagainortoresetyour
secureharddrive.Formoreinstructionsaboutresettingyoursecureharddrive,see“Completely
resettingthesecureharddrive”onpage9

Notes:
Ifyouincorrectlyinputtheuserpasswordortheadministratorpasswordsixconsecutivetimes,thesecure
harddrivewillnolongerrespondandthestatusLEDwillturnoff.Youneedtodisconnectthesecurehard
drive,andthenreconnectittoyourcomputerforadditionalpasswordattempts.
Ifyouincorrectlyinputtheuserpasswordortheadministratorpassword25consecutivetimes,the
secureharddrivewillbelockedandthestatusLEDwillquicklyashinred.Tounlockthesecurehard
drive,dothefollowing:
1.Disconnectthesecureharddrivefromyourcomputer.
2.Hold5whilereconnectingthesecureharddrivetoyourcomputer.ThestatusLEDalternately
ashesinredandingreen.
3.Press5278879.ThestatusLEDturnsred,indicatingthatthesecureharddriveisunlockedfor
additionalpasswordattempts.
Ifyouincorrectlyinputtheuserpasswordortheadministratorpassword50consecutivetimes,thesecure
harddrivewillbelockedandthestatusLEDwillquicklyashinred.Thesecureharddrivehastobe
completelyresetandthenformatted.Formoreinformation,see“Completelyresettingthesecurehard
drive”onpage9and“Initializingandformattingthesecureharddriveafteracompletereset”onpage9.
Exitingusermode
Attention:Besuretosavealldocumentsonthesecureharddrivebeforeexitingusermode.
Toexitusermode,dooneofthefollowing:

untilthestatusLEDturnsred.
ClicktheSafelyRemoveHardwareiconinthenoticationareaonyourcomputerscreen.Amessagewill
bedisplayed,promptingyouthatyoucansafelydisconnectthesecureharddrivefromyourcomputer.
Then,dependingonyouroperatingsystem,thestatusLEDstaysingreenorturnsred.Youcanchoose
whethertodisconnectthesecureharddriveornot.
Note:Itisnotrecommendedtoexitusermodewhenthesecureharddriveistransferringdata.

Lockthesecureharddrive
Toensurethedatasecurityofyoursecureharddrivewhenyouareawayfromyourcomputer,youcan
manuallylockthesecureharddriveorusetheauto-lockfunction.

Tomanuallylockthesecureharddrive,holduntilthestatusLEDturnsred.
Lockthesecureharddrivewiththeauto-lockfunction
Ifthereisnodatatransmissionafteranauto-lockinterval,whichyouneedtosetinadvance,thesecurehard
drivewilllockitself.Then,thestatusLEDwillturnred,andyouwillnotbeabletoaccessthesecurehard
driveunlessyouunlockitbyinputtingthecorrectuserpasswordandthenpress.
Tosettheauto-lockinterval,dothefollowing:

computer.Youcanchoosewhethertodisconnectthesecureharddriveornot.

Ifyouforgetalluserpasswordsortheadministratorpassword,youcanperformacompleteresettodelete
alluserpasswords,andrestoretheadministratorpasswordto12345678.
Attention:Completelyresettingthesecureharddrivewilleraseallthedataonthesecureharddrive.
Youneedtoinitializeandformatthesecureharddrivewiththediskmanagementapplication.Formore
information,see“Initializingandformattingthesecureharddriveafteracompletereset”onpage9.
Tocompletelyresetthesecureharddrive,dothefollowing:
1.Holdwhileyouconnectthesecureharddrivetoyourcomputer.ThestatusLEDalternatelyashes

2.Hold++2for10secondsuntilthestatusLEDturnsgreenforthreeseconds.Thecompletereset

2.Inputthedefaultuserpassword12345678,andthenpresstoenterusermode.Theoperatingsystem
automaticallyinstallsalltheUSBdevicedriversforthesecureharddrive.
3.DependingonyourStartmode,clickStartandthenright-clickMyComputerorComputer.Select
Manage,andtheComputerManagementwindowopens.
4.IntheComputerManagementwindow,clickDiskManagement.TheDiskManagementwindowopens,
andthesecureharddriveisrecognizedasanunknowndevicethatisuninitializedandunallocated.
5.Dooneofthefollowingtomakethesecureharddriverecognized:
IftheInitializeandConvertDiskWizardwindowopens,clickNextNextFinish.
