Introducing Yaris Hybrid

Thank you for buying a Yaris Hybrid. We trust this Brief Guide will enable you to become

familiar with your vehicle’s basic operations and assist you in enjoying your vehicle.

This Brief Guide does not replace or substitute the Owner’s Manual, which you will find in the

vehicle’s glove compartment. It is important that you review the full Owner’s Manual as well as

any further supplementary manuals as this will allow you to familiarise yourself with the

operating and safety instructions and to handle the vehicle within its limitations.

Please do read all documents in your pack as this will ensure you get maximum performance

from your car and learn about related services offered.

Caution: High voltage components

Hybrid battery air vent

1. Caution label.

2. Service plug.

3. Air conditioning compressor.

4. Electric motor (Traction motor).

5. Power control unit with DC/DC converter.

6. Hybrid battery (Traction battery).

7. High voltage cables (orange).

There is an air intake vent on the side of the lower

part of the rear left seat for the purpose of cooling

the hybrid battery (traction battery). If the vent

becomes blocked, the hybrid battery (traction

battery) may overheat, leading to a reduction in

hybrid battery output.

Take care when handling the hybrid system, as it contains a high

voltage system and some parts become extremely hot.

Accessing your vehicle

Vehicles without smart entry & start

system

. Key with a wireless remote control function.

3. Key number plate

If you should lose your keys or if you need additional

keys, duplicates can be made using the key number.

Vehicles with a push-button start system

1. Electronic keys

1. Unlock.

2. Lock.

Move the lock lever to the "LOCK" position as shown

on the label, then the door cannot be opened with the

inside door handle. This is to prevent children from

opening the rear doors.

Rear door child-protector lock (5-door only)

The Mechanical Key is stored within the

Electronic Key.

Entry & start system (applicable for vehicles with smart entry and smart start)

1. Unlocks all the doors.

2. Locks all the doors.

1. Locks the door (driver’s side only).

2. Unlocks the door (driver’s side only).

The front doors can be opened by pulling the inside

handle even if the lock button is in the lock position.

1. Unlocks and locks the side doors.

2. Unlocks and locks the back door.

3. Starts the hybrid system.

Window lock switch

The steering wheel can be adjusted to a

comfortable position

Steering wheel adjustment

Hold the steering wheel and push the lever down.

Adjust to the ideal position by moving the steering

wheel horizontally and vertically.

After adjustment, pull the lever up to secure the

steering wheel.

Electric windows and windows lock

(on some models)

The power windows can be opened and closed using the switches

perating the switch moves the windows as follows:

1. Closing

2. One-touch closing (driver’s side only)*

3. Opening

4. One-touch opening (driver’s side only)*

*: Pushing the switch in the opposite direction will

stop window travel partway.

Press the switch down to lock the passenger window

switches.

Use this switch to prevent children from accidentally

opening or closing a passenger window.

The steering wheel must not be adjusted while the vehicle is in motion.

1. Seat position adjusting lever.

2. Seat back angle adjusting lever.

3. Vertical seat height adjusting lever (on some

models).

4. Seat back lock release lever (3 doors models).

To fasten your belt, pull it out of the retractor and

insert the tab into the buckle.

You will hear a click when the tab locks into the

buckle.

The seat belt length automatically adjusts to your size

and the seat position.

1. Lower the head seat restraint to the lowest

position.

2. Stow the rear seat belt buckles as shown.

3. Pull the seat back lock release knob and fold the

seat back down. Each seat back may be folded

separately.

Make sure that all occupants are wearing their

seat belts before driving the vehicle.

1. Tachometer:

Displays the engine speed in revolutions per

minute.

Starting your vehicle

Engine switch positions:

1. Lock: The steering wheel is locked and the key can

e removed.

. ACC: Some electrical equipment such as audio can

be used.

3. On: All electrical equipment can be used.

4. Start: For starting the hybrid system.

Vehicles without an electronic key

1. Check that the parking brake is set.

2. Check that the shift lever is set in P.

3. Firmly depress the brake pedal.

Turn the switch to “START” position, continue

depressing the brake pedal until Hybrid system is

started.

Starting the Hybrid system

Vehicles with an electronic key

1. Check that the parking brake is set.

2. Check that the shift lever is set in P.

3. Firmly depress the brake pedal.

Press the “POWER” switch, continue depressing the

brake pedal until Hybrid system is started.

The vehicle can move when the "READY" indicator is on.

Hybrid transmission

With the power on, move the shift lever with the

brake depressed, when shifting from “P” or “R” to

another position.

In EV drive mode, the electric motor (traction motor),

used to drive the vehicle.

This mode allows you to drive in residential areas

early in the morning and late at night, or in indoor

parking lots etc without concern for noises and

exhaust gas emissions.

Lights

Headlights

1. The front position, tail, license plate and

nstrument panel lights turn on.

. The headlights and all of the lights above turn on.

3. All lights turn on or off automatically when the

engine is on depending on outside light intensity.

High-low beams

For high beams, turn the headlights on and push the

lever away from you (position 1).

Pull the lever toward you for low beams.

To flash the high beam headlights, pull the lever all

the way back (position 2). The high beam headlights

turn off when you release the lever.

Windscreen wipers and washer

1. Intermittent windscreen wiper operation

2. Low speed windscreen wiper operation

3. High speed operation

4. Temporary operation

To spray washer fluid, pull the lever toward you.

Rain-sensing windscreen wiper

(if equipped)

With "AUTO" selected, the wiper will operate

automatically when the sensor detects rain and

adjust the timing according to rain volume and

vehicle speed.

Wipers

Bonnet opening

To open the bonnet:

1. Pull the bonnet lock re lease lever.

The bonnet will spring up slightly.

2. In front of the vehicle, pull up on the auxiliary

catch lever and lift the bonnet.

3. Hold the bonnet open by inserting the support rod

into the slot.

Fuel tank opening

1. To open the fuel filler door, pull the lever up. 2. To remove the fuel tank cap, turn the cap slowly

counter clockwise, then pause slightly before

removing it. Hang the tether as shown in the

illustration.
