3.Carefullyplaceyourharddriveinthe
base of the enclosure so a solid
connection is made with the
22-pin SATA connector.
4. Use the included screws
and screwdriver to secure
the hard drive in place (see
the image above), then slide the
cover of the enclosure back in place.
Placethedeviceinthestand,ifdesired.
5. Use the included USB cable to connect the enclosure to your computer.
6. Use the included power adapter to connect the enclosure’s +12V jack to
a power source.
7. SettheOn/Off
switch to On when
you’rereadytousethedevice.TheLEDsoneithercorneroftheend
panelwilllighttoindicateeitherPower(top,asshownabove)orActivity.

OPTIONAL: Formatting a New Hard Drive
Ifyou’reusinganewharddrivewiththisdevice,youmayneedtoformatit
beforeinitialuse.Ifso,followtheprocedureabove,thencontinuewiththe
steps below. For more info on formatting drives, go to www.microsoft.com.
1. Onyourdesktop,gotoMyComputerandselect“Manager.”
2. WhentheComputerManagerscreendisplays,click“DiskManager”
in the left-side window.
3. Intheright-sidewindow,recognitionofthenewharddiskwillappear;
forexample,“Seagate....”
4. Right-clickonthenewharddrivelisting,thenselect“Deletepartition.”
5. Right-clickonthenewharddrivelisting,thenselect“Newlogicaldrive.”
6. Right-clickonthenewharddrivelistingathirdtime,thenselect
“Formatdiskdrive.”
7. ConrmthatthenewharddriveislistedintheMyComputerwindow,
indicating a proper formatting.
