Documentation Errors and Omissions
The following relate to the “Adding and Editing IPSec
Connections” section, starting on page 52 of the OfficeConnect
Cable/DSL Secure Gateway User Guide (DUA08569-5AAA01):
The User Guide indicates that you can enter a domain name
at Remote IPSec Server Address. This is incorrect. Only IP
addresses can be entered in their numeric format.
If both Connection Name and This Gateway’s ID are set using
numeric IP addresses then the Gateway to Gateway
connection will use main mode. Otherwise, it will use
aggressive mode.
The User Guide indicates that the This Gateway’s ID field only
appears in the IPSec Tunnel Configuration dialog box if
Gateway to Gateway is selected. In fact, the This Gateway’s
ID field also appears if Remote User Access is selected.
The IPSec Tunnel Configuration dialog contains an additional
field named Hash Algorithm. Choose either SHA-1 or MD5
from the drop-down list. Both ends of the connection must
use the same value.
