Assembling the appliance
1. Turn the appliances main body on its head.
2. Insert the axel through both of the holes located on the foot. (Fig 3)
3. Place a spacer onto either end of the inserted axel.
4. Insert the wheels onto the axel. Ensure that the wheels are inserted the correct way so
that the outsides of the wheels can t the wheel cover. (Fig 5)
5. Place a spacer into the inner wheel and insert the split pin into the two ridges of the
wheel so that the spacer stays in place.
6. Aach the wheel cover.
7. Insert the foot into the body of the appliance, so that the wheels are in line with the back
of the appliance. (Fig 4 and Fig 1).Fix the foot to the body of the appliance using two cross
head screws.
8. Ensure that the securing knob (Fig 6) is fully ghtened. If the securing knob is not
correctly ghtened, a safety switch will be acvated in the motor prevenng it from
starng.
6
Before operang the appliance
Always ensure that the black collecon bag is aached to the body of the
appliance by the hooks so that it collects the debris coming out of the discharge
shoot.
Examine the materials to be shredded before starng. Remove any debris or
objects that are likely to become jammed or entangled in the blades of the
appliance. Foreign objects such as large lumps of soil, stones, glass, metals,
fabrics or plascs must not enter the feed chute, otherwise they can damage the
blades.
Always operate the machine on a rm level ground. Do not move the appliance
during operaon.
Before feeding materials into the chute allow the blades to reach maximum
speed.
The machine should be used to shred the following materials:
- Twigs and branches (maximum diameter 40mm)
- Waste from trimming hedges
- Plant material and other garden waste
- Leaves and plant roots (remove the soil before shredding)
Do not overload the appliance as the discharge chute will become blocked. This
could cause the material to build up and reach the cung blades causing
material to spray out of the top of the appliance.
To make ner compost pass the material through the shredder twice.
To avoid large quanes of liquid building up in the appliance dry the materials
you want to shred for a minimum of 3 days before shredding. A large build of
water in the appliance can cause the appliance to malfuncon.
Large branches however are best shredded when they are fresh, this is the only
excepon.
Please be aware that if the appliances blades stalls during operaon switch the
appliance o immediately before aempng maintenance or repair.
7
If the blades stall for more than 5 seconds a safety overload switch will operate
and automacally turn the machine o. Before re-starng the appliance allow a
cooling period of 1 minute. Press the overload switch and then push the on/o
switch to re-start the machine.
If the cung mechanism of the appliance strikes a foreign object or if the
appliance starts making any irregular or unusual vibraons or noise immediately
switch o the appliance and allow the cung means to stop. Remove the power
cord from the mains supply, then proceed as follows:
- Inspect the appliance for damage
- Replace of repair any damaged parts
- Check for and ghten any loose parts
- Remove any debris that becomes clogged
Always keep the motor cooling vents free from debris and other materials to
prevent any damage from occurring to the motor. Also ensure that the collecng
bag does not cover the cooling vents during use.
When you have nished using the appliance always switch the appliance o and
remove the electrical cord from the mains supply.

If the material is too bulky the shredder will not allow it to pass through. If the
material is the correct size it will be drawn into the blades. Please note that long
material extending out from the cung blades present a hazard. When
shredding small material please use the plunger provided (Fig 9).
 Allow the appliance to shred the material before adding more.
 When you have shredded the desired amount of material, turn the appliance o
(marked by the symbol “0”).
 Remove the collecon bag and empty.
 Clean the appliance thoroughly before storage (refer to “Maintenance, cleaning
and storage”).
Using the plunger
A plunger is provided with the shredder, please use the plunger to feed smaller
material into the chute using the following steps:
 Load the material into the hopper.
 Insert the plunger into the feed chute
pushing the material onto the blade disc.
(Fig 9).
 Wait unl all the material has been
shredded before adding more material.
Please note: Your ngers should never enter into
the feed chute when the appliance is in use. Do
not use the appliance without the hopper
aached. Do not overreach when using the
appliance.
9
Starng and stopping the shredder
Press the switch marked “1” to start the appliance.
Press the switch marked “0” to stop the appliance.
Press the “circuit breaker” buon if the machine does not switch on, this will
ensure that you have the correctly connected the power supply.
The circuit breaker will become acvated when one of the following has occurred:
There is a build up of material around the cung disc.
If the material being shredded exceeds the size of the motor capacity.
When there is too much resistance against the cung blade.
Once the circuit breaker becomes acvated switch-o the shredder and disconnect the
electrical supply, then proceed as follows before restarng the machine:

1. Ensure that the appliance is switched o and the power cord is disconnected
from the mains supply.
2. Remove the top of the appliance by unscrewing the “securing knob” located on
the main body of the appliance.
3. The blades have two cung edges, when the blades have become worn, reverse
the blades to use the second cung edge.
4. Lock the blade disc using a hex spanner. Unscrew the two inner hexagonal
headed screws and note the cung angle of the blade (Fig 10).
5. Remove the blade and rotate it 180˚ and t the blade to the blade disc ensuring
that the ground cung edge is facing downwards (Fig 10).
6. Repeat the same process for the other blade.
Note:
-When one cung blade has worn out both must be replaced as a pair.
-The cung blades can be re-sharpened, this must be carried out by an experienced
professional using an oil stone.
-However, we recommend purchasing new blades as faulty discs may cause an
imbalance in the appliance.
11
Maintenance, cleaning and storage
Note: Before beginning maintenance, repair and cleaning please ensure the appliance
is switched o and the electrical cord is removed from the mains supply.
When carrying out maintenance on the cung blades, please be aware that the

cung blades can sll move if the motor is turned by hand.
