Early warning through automatic detection of drifts and decreasing precision
Alarms are visual and per e-mail
Automation of data acquisition and computation, semiautomatic evaluation of any devices by
coupling with the MEAC2000 emission computer
Documentation of the measuring system life cycle in the maintenance log
Integrated management of test equipment
AT A GLANCE
Regular readout of QAL3 data
from AMS and CUSUM computa-
tions
Alarms when drift and/or preci-
sion exceeded
QAL3 readings given for each
component of an analyzer
The complete AMS of a measu-
ring task can be combined which
considerably reduces effort
Convenient access to measured
data and evaluations
Stand-alone tool, not dependent
on other programs, e.g. meas-
ured value processors
Central function at one location
Compatible with all other equip-
ment from SICK with SOPAS
capability
Compatible with all devices with
analog connection (4 – 20 mA)
with the SICK emission computer
MEAC2000. The QAL3 data are
determined here from the mea-
surements for self-adjustment
Reliable saving and archiving of
measured data in a database
Comprehensive documentation
with respect to the quality assu-
rance of the AMS
Retroactive intervention options,
e.g. for error correction
Additional manual event entries
possible
Software for automatic monitoring of
emission measurement systems according to
EU standard EN 14181
AREAS OF APPLICATION
Quality assurance of Automatic Measuring Systems (AMS) during operation
Connection with dust monitors and gas measuring
devices from SICK

A maintenance log is kept over the
life cycle of the maintenance system.
All entries in connection with the
quality of the measuring devices are
saved, the entries are provided with a
comment.
Automatic detection of events upon:
Start of a new CUSUM computa-
tion procedure
End of a CUSUM computation
procedure
Automatic/manual reading
Discarding of a reading
Modification of a saved reading
(e.g. correction of the test equip-
ment specification)
Creation of new test equipment
Change of test equipment for a
component
Manual acquisition: In addition, the
operator can manually enter events
concerning a measuring component
in the maintenance log.

Functions
During operation, QAL3 Master pro-
cesses all control measurements initi-
ated manually or automatically by the
measuring device. Optionally, the send-
ing of an e-mail can be precongured as
automatic alerting when drift and accu-
racy tolerances are exceeded. The QAL3
Client provides the following functions:
Display of all QAL3 data and
evaluations
Configuration of the QAL3 Master
Input of new QAL3 values
Maintenance of the warning log
Semiautomatic evaluations of
devices connected analog via
MEAC2000
Types of connectivity
The QAL3 Client can be installed on
any workplace computers connected
via network with the computer on
which the QAL3 database is running
(see example 2). Several software
modules run together in the back-
ground (see p. 3). The individual
programs can be installed on a single
computer (see example 1) or distrib-
uted over several network computers.
The QAL3 database and QAL3 server
are part of the basic equipment, they
are supplemented by the QAL3 driv-
ers for the measuring modules used.
The solution with a distributed system
(see example 2) is of interest for large
installations with several analyzers
to increase, for example, reliability or
distribute system resources.
What does semiautomatic QAL3
evaluation mean?
When devices are monitored that
have an analog connection with
the emission computer MEAC2000,
the signal patterns are written dur-
ing adjustment measurements.
On the QAL3 client, a user must
select the QAL3 measured values
semi-automatically.
