This document provides instructions on setting up the devices with the mobile app, troubleshooting connection issues, and performing diagnostics. Common Issues and Answers for AD20 & AD20 Pro
1. How to use this device?
Step 1: Download the Advancer AD20 on APP Store for iOS
devices or Google Play for Android. And follow the tips to turn
on the location permissions and Bluetooth permissions(Required by
Google for APP development).
Note: Enable permissions: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security >
Bluetooth/Location > (Then enable Advancer AD20).
Step 2: Enter your email account and a 6-digital password.
Note: Please make sure that the email address/account is correct
(no space or incorrect letters including letter cases).
Step 3: Scan&Pair Device: scan the QR code on your AD20.
Step 4: Plug AD20 into your vehicle's OBD2 port and pair the AD20
and your vehicle.
Note: Please make sure that the ignition switch is in "ON" position.
Step 5: Start the vehicle engine and the diagnosis..
2. It says failed to send code when i forget the password:
- Please make sure the APP has access to the Network.
3. Bluetooth connection issue
- Please check the following cases to locate the reason.
Please check OS version of your device because scanner is
compatible with devices of OS Android 4.4+(with64-bit processor)
and iOS 11+.(Android devices with 32-bit processor is not
compatible since it is relatively old in the market)
Please make sure the dongle is firmly plugged into the OBDII
port.
Please make sure that the network is stable.
Please make sure that the vehicle is started or the ignition switch
is in "ON" position.
Please allow the APP to access your permission: Settings >
Privacy > Bluetooth/Location>Enable the advancer AD20.
Or please just uninstall the APP and reinstall the APP. Allow the
permissions when policy pops up.(Please rest assured that it is
not our intention to have your data.According to Google's
requirements, the development of this Bluetooth type of APP
requires location permissions in order to efficiently locate and
scan specific Bluetooth devices. This is to ensure a better
matching between the AD20, the user's device, and the car.)
4. Can it work on vehicles with VIN that is not 17-digit?
-Please try entering your vehicle information manually first to see if
it can be paired successfully.
If it doesn't work, please kindly send us the SN of your device and
VIN of your vehicle so we can offer you tech support.

5. Can it work with other APPs or other scan tools?
--I am sorry it cannot. The APP is tied to the device. Other apps or
devices are not compatible.
6. Downloaded app goes straight to sign in page, I don't see any
where to register to start account
-Registration and login share the same page. An unregistered email
address will be automatically registered an account the first time
you log in the device, please see the screenshot below:
7. I cannot perform "In-depth check" the first time I use it.
--Please connect the device to Internet/Wi-Fi so the diagnostic
software can be downloaded automatically when performing the
"In-depth check for the first time.
8.Unable to scan any vehicles. Every time I press to do a check, it
comes up with "load diagnosis pack failed". Bluetooth and
network is fine.
--Please kindly send us the S/N of your device and the VIN so we
can ask the engineers to locate the issue for you.
9.I can use it on several cars, but it failed to scan my friend's car.
--The software of some new or rare vehicles hasn't been devoloped
yet. Please kindly send us the S/N of your device and the vehicle
information/VIN so we can check the compatiblity for you.
10. It cannot read codes. I have lights on the dashboad.
--
AD20 Pro can read codes in all available systems. AD20 can only
read codes related to OBD2.

11. It cannot clear the codes
AD20 Pro can clear codes in all available systems. AD20 can only
clear codes related to OBD2.
The manufactured stipulates that some codes can only be
cleared after the faults are eliminated, which means that you
need to get the vehicle repaired first. Because it will affect the
driving safety of the vehicle if the fault is not solved.
12. There is no trouble light on the dashboard, but the code cannot
be cleared.
--If the code is started with "U", it just shows the state of
communication and you don't need to worry about it. Please kindly
send us the S/N of your device and the screenshot of the code if you
need further assistance.
13. I have repaired the vehicle, but the code still cannot be
cleared.
--The code will disappear automatically when the ECU detects no
faults after a driving cycle(only if the vehicle is truly repaired). So, as
long as the fault is eliminated, please don't worry about it.
14.Speed/Water temp/oil volume is not accurate because it is
different from those on the dashboard.
--There will be a slight adjustment on those live data streams on the
dashboard due to the vehicle settings.
You can verify it if you have other scanners.
If it is still the case or other live data streams are not accurate,
please kindly send us the S/N of your device and the vehicle
information/VIN so we can offer tech support.
15. Cannot read O2 sensor data
--You can generally get the O2 sensor data via the "O2S Monitoring
Test" under "OBD2" menu . If it isn't there, it is most likely that your
vehicle is not set to send data of O2 sensors to ECU when
manufatured.
You can send us the S/N of your device and the VIN so we can ask
the engineers to verify.
16. There is no diagnostic reports after scanning.
-Sorry that diagnostic reports is not added on this device due to
product design and the cost. But it is expected that the feature of
converting data streams into CSV will be added in the near future.

17. Can i select the live data streams freely?
-Sorry that this feature is only available on Anyscan series and
diagnostic tablets currently.
18. The battery of my car is dead after using the AD20 for a long
time.
--Reason 1: When the battery is running low, multiple fault lights
may also appear on the dashboard. After reading the codes, most of
them indicate low voltage. Such fault codes can be cleared directly
without affecting the use of the vehicle.
--Reason 2: While connecting to the device, the OBD2 port on a very
small number of vehicles will not get into sleep mode due to its
special settings even if the ignition switch is in "OFF" position,
therefore, the battery will be drained out. Once this happends( very
rare cases), please unplug the device while not in use next time.
If no power consumption is found during use, the device can be
plugged in permanently.
19. Can I plug this device in the vehicle permanently?
--The battery power comsuption of the AD20 is less than 1W,
therefore there will be no big impact on the battery if you plug it in
the vehicle permanently. We suggest you unplug the device if you
don't use the vehicle for more than 7 days.
20. Some strange codes are pulled out. I cannot clear it.
--Please kindly send us the S/N of your device and the VIN so we
can ask the engineers to help you locate the reason and fix the
issue.
21. Can this device remind me of the faults on the vehicle?
--There is "Fault warning" menu in "General settings" under "My
info” which can warn you when the DTC codes are detected on the
car(only codes related to obd2 system) and when the coolant
overheats.
You can activate this feature if you need it.
22. Can I register it with gmail or outlook?
--There is no restriction on registered email types. Please reach out
to us if registration fails.
23. It cannot auto detect my car. Does this mean it is not
compatible?
--Not necessarily. Probably because the vehicle is relatively
old/rare/new, it cannot be auto detected. Please try manually
selecting your vehicle information to see how it works. If it still
doesn't work, please kindly send us the S/N of your device and the
VIN so we can ask the engineers to check the compatibility for you.
24.Unable to add another car
- Please click “My info” and unpair the current vehicle first.
- Then please try Pair your car >Add” and scan the AD20 QR code
again. Plug the AD20 into the new vehicle's OBD2 port and pair it
again. (Make sure the vehicle is started or the ignition switch is in
"ON" position)

25. The unit is metric, can I change it to U.S unit ?
--Sure, you can change it via the path below:
My info>General settings>Unit>U.S. System
26. Check Engine light is on after plugging the AD20 into the OBD
port
--Turn off the ignition and remove the key, get off the vehicle and
lock the door with remote. Start the vehicle after an hour.
Or please unplug the AD20 and disconnect the battery of the
vehicle for 5 minutes. And send the S/N to us so we can help you
fix the issue if you still need help.
27. What if the QR Code wipes off accidentally? Can I still use it?
--Every device has a unique QR Code.
If you still diagnose the same car, the device will be connected
automatically, you don’t need to scan the QR Code again.
If you want to use it on other cars, you can come to us with the
email you logged in before. We will give you the QR Code that
matchs your device. You just need to unpair your vehicle first and
then re-scan the QR Code we send you.
28. Login Failure: Device has been bound to other users?
-Please check if the email you entered is identical with the email
you logged in before.
The login system recognizes email addresses as case-sensitive,
which means that the capitalization of letters in your email address
matters when logging in to your account. For example, if you
previously used "john@example.com" to log in, using
"John@example.com" will be considered a different user.
-If the email is identical and it still shows "bound to other users",
please kindly send us the S/N of your device and your email you
logged in so we can offer you tech support.
29.Can I install it on tablets?
--It can be installed on tablets as well.
But the UI may not be matched properly if you use it on tablet because the APP is designed to be
used on phones.
And please be informed that it cannot be installed on other diagnostic tablets.
30. It cannot record the trip, no mileage display
--You need to plug in the device all the way during the driving
process. Turn off the car and open the APP with network connection.
Then the trip mileage will be uploaded to the Cloud Server, and the
mileage will be displayed on the device.
31. What vehicles are compatible with this device?
--Most vehicles with standard OBD2 port are compatible. You can
send us the VIN of your vehicle and we can check the compatibility
for you.
32. What trouble codes can it read?
--The AD20 can read codes related to OBD2.
AD20 Pro can read codes of all available systems.
33.Can I swap to another new car? Or pair it with many vehicles?
--Sure, you can swap to pair with another new car or with many
vehicels. But you will need to scan the QR code again if you want to
swap to another vehicle. Because the AD20 is designed to monitor
