Simple plug the suspect cable into the correct sockets on the CT-5 and press the “Test” button. The CT-5 will respond with
a glowing red “Battery” light. If this light fails to illuminate when the “Test” button is pushed, replace the battery
according to the
BBaatttteerryy IInnssttaallllaattiioonn
instructions.
With the “Test” button still depressed, an illuminated green LED shows the cable under test is a good cable. If the green
LED does not illuminate, then the cable under test is defective in some way. The CT-5 will check cables for open or short
circuits, as well as “cross-wired” faults.
NNOOTTEE::
Because the standard MIDI cable has a 3-wire configuration, this device will only check to that standard. It will not
check the remaining two wires that are not used.
