PanelInstallation:
1. Usetemplateprovidedtodrilltheholepatternintopanel.
2. Installthedisplayontothepanelusing4mmnutsandwashers,
tightenuntilgasketiscompressedanddisplaybezelcomesin
contactwiththepanel.Donotovertightenortheinstrument’scase
maycrack.
3. Connectthedisplaycabletodisplayandthentotheinstrument.
4. Slidetheinstrumentontothreadedrodsandsecureinplacewith
8mmx4mmretainingnutsusingan8mmnutwrench(donotover
tighteninstrumentretainingnuts,overtightingcouldcausethe
instrumenttocrack).
DINRailInstallation:
1. Usetemplateprovidedtodrilltheholepatternintopanel
2. Installthedisplaypanelusing4mmnutsandwashers,tightenuntil
gasketiscompressed(4mmscrewstightenedwithan8mmnut
wrench)withalengthlengthappropriatetopanelthicknesscanbe
usedinplaceofthe4mmrodssentwiththeunit).
3. PlacetheinstrumentontotheDINrail,slideDINrailclipupuntilit
snapsintoplacetosecure.
4. Connectthedisplaycabletothedisplaypanelandinstrument
(legthenthecableasneededbyusingathinscrewdrivertorelease
andreplacewiresbetweenthetwoconnectors).
Wiring:
1. Removeconnectorsfromtheinstrumentandwireaspermarkings
foundontheconnectorlabels.
2. Whenusing4wiresensorsplaceajumperbetweenExcitation(+)
andSense(+)andajumperbetweenExcitation()andSense().
3. Groundingoftheinstrumentisrecommendedbyconnectingto
eitherofthe2screwslocatedleftofpowerconnectororrightofthe
RS485connector.

Weightis0,with5lbsonthescale,theCalLowWeightwouldbe5.
3) PressDoCalLowtosetthelowpointonthecalibrationcurve.
4) PlacetheSpanWeightontothescale.
5) PressDoCalHi.
RefertoUser’sGuideifadjustmentstoothercalibrationrelated
parametersarerequired.
Communication:
Sectionusedforsettingupcommunicationstotheinstrument.
EthernetTCP/IP
1) ConnectanEthernetcablebetweentheinstrument’sRJ45
connectorandaPC,thenpoweruptheinstrument.Acrossover
cableisnotrequired,butcanbeused.
2) Theinstrumentwillautonegotiatesettingssuitableforavarietyof
operatingsystemsandnetworkconfigurations.Waitapproximately
15secondsandchecktoseeifthegreenlightoftheEthernetportis
onandblinkingifso,skiptostep8youareconnected.
3) IfthegreenlightontheEthernetportdoesnotlightup,checkthat
theunit’sEnableDHCPisturnedoffandfollowsteps4through9.
4) Usingtheunit’sFixedIPaddress(thedefaultis192.168.000.100),
thePCmustnowbeassignedauniqueIPaddress(forexample,
192.168.000.101)
TherearetwosimplerulesfortheIPAddress:
Itmusthavethesamenetwork
identifierasthecomputer
Itmusthaveadifferentnode

5) OnaPCrunningwindows,openInternetProperties(TCP/IP).
6) Clickinthe‘UsetheFollowingIPAddress’checkbox;thenenterthe
followingintotheTCP/IPPropertiesdialog.

7) SelectOKontheTCP/IPPropertiesdialogbox.Thecomputerisnow
fullyconfigured.Toreturnthecomputertotheoriginalnetwork
settings,returntothe‘InternetProperties(TCP/IP)dialog,select
‘ObtainanIPaddressautomatically,’andclickOK.
8) TheHI6500seriesinstrumentisnowconfiguredtocommunicate
withthePC.EntertheHI6500seriesinstrumentIPaddressintothe
WindowsPCWebbrowsertoaccesstheembeddedwebbrowser.
