Using the Range Home Entertainment
Control Application
Running Demo Application
1. Assemble the development boards by plugging the MRB into the header at the top of the REM and RCM boards. Plug the MRB labeled
“Remote control” into the RCM and plug the boards labeled “Blackbox” into the REM boards.
2. Install batteries into the 1323x-RCM board.
3. Connect the 1323x-REM board to the PC using the USB cable supplied in the kit.
4. Power on the 1323x-REM board and follow the installation instructions as displayed in the Found New Hardware wizard
on the PC. If the drivers do not automatically load, they can be found in the C:\Program Files\Freescale\Drivers directory.
It may be necessary to load the drivers twice the first time the drivers are installed.
5. Power on the 1323x-RCM board. Press the reset button on the 1323x-MRB board. The LCD displays “No device.”
6. Launch the HECA program by clicking on Start>Programs>Freescale BeeKit>Home Entertainment Center>Home Entertainment Center
Application.
7. Select the TV application from the home entertainment center GUI.
8. The HECA application automatically detects the COM port to which the local node (1323x-REM) is connected.
If the application does not find the REM board, ensure the board is connected and powered on.
9. Initialize pairing between the two boards by clicking the Pair icon on the HECA application. Then press and hold SW18 (Pair) on the RCM
board until “Searching device” is displayed on the LCD.
10. When pairing is complete, the HECA application shows “Pairing success” and the RCM displays
“FSL TV is off.”
11. The RCM board is now ready to control the TV view.
Press SW16 to toggle the simulated TV on/off. The TV will show a sample video file to
simulate a broadcast.
Press SW13 (Vol+) and SW19 (Vol-) to adjust the audio volume.
Press SW14 (CH+) and SW20 (CH-) to adjust the channel.
Note: The Synaptics touch pad recognizes the following gestures:
Swipe right: Channel up
Swipe left: Channel down
Swipe up: Volume up
Swipe down: Volume down
12. In the HECA application, click on the Find Remote icon (next to the OK icon) to sound a buzzer on
the RCM board.
13. Refer to the HECA Quick Start Guide for more information on running HECA demonstrations.
