Safety instructions
Do not expose the lawnmower to temperatures exceeding
80° C. Never mow for longer periods of time in direct sunlight
where there is no shade.
Dispose of batteries in an environmentally
responsible manner
Batteries contain lead and must be of in the correct manner.
Batteries contain lead are harmful to the environment if they
are incinerated with other household garbage.
• WOLF Garten would like to encourage environmentally
friendly consumer attitudes. Working together with you and
WOLF dealers we guarantee the acceptance and recycling of
used batteries.
Battery
If the electrolyte (acid) escapes from the battery cell due to
extreme mishandling or extremely difficult conditions, observe
the following:
- Avoid contact with the skin.
- Rinse off the electrolyte with water or a neutralising agent.
- The rinsing water must not seep into drains or the soil. It
must be disposed of separately.
- On contact with the skin or eyes, rinse with water and
consult a doctor.
-
Take the mower to a specialised workshop for cleaning and
repairs.
Charger
This charger should only be used with WOLF-Battery Mower
Esprit 40 AC.
Do not store or use charger in humid or wet conditions but in
dry room only.
Disconnect charging units from mains socket by holding
plug only. Do not pull on cable as this can cause damage to
internal connections and make the
unit unsafe.
Never use the charger if the cable, plug or any part of the
mower itself should be faulty. Any repair should be carried
out by a qualified person.
Ensure that the cooling of the charging unit is always
guaranteed by keeping the cooling slots open and clean. Do
not use it close to a radiatoror other heating appliances.
Never attempt opening the casing of the unit. If it does not
function properly take it to a qualified service centre for
inspection.
General information
• This lawnmower is designed for domestic grass and lawn
surfaces. Because of the physical risk to the user or to oth-
ers, the lawnmower must not be used for other purposes.
• Never mow the lawn if others in particular children and ani-
mals – are in the vicinity.
• Only mow the lawn during daylight or with the aid of appro-
priate artificial light.
Before mowing
• Always wear sturdy shoes and long trousers when mowing.
Never mow while barefoot or wearing flimsy sandals.
• Check the site on which the machine is to be used, and
remove all items which could be caught and ejected
• Check the line and connection cable fitted to the outside of
the lawnmower for damage and ageing (brittleness). Only use
if in perfect condition.
• Only have the cable repaired by a qualified person.
Check the grass catchment device regularly for wear-and-tear
and deformation.
• Before use, carry out a visual inspection to check whether
the cutting gear and its mounts are blunt or damaged. In
order to avoid generating an imbalance, replace blunt or
damaged cutting gear as an entire set.
When mowing
Do not tilt the lawnmower when switching on the motor,
unless the lawnmower has to be tilted when starting. If that
is the case, do not tip the lawnmower more than absolutely
necessary, and only lift the part furthest removed from the
user. Always ensure that both hands are in the operating
position before replacing the lawnmower on the ground.
Caution, danger! Cutting gear will continue running!
Maintain the safety distance prescribed by the handle bars.
Only switch on the motor if your feet are at a safe distance
from the cutting gear.
• Take care to ensure a safe and stable position, especially on
slopes. Never run; always walk calmly forward.
• Always mow slopes at right angles to the incline; never mow
up and down.
When mowing slopes, be especially careful when changing
direction.
Never mow steep slopes.
Be especially careful when mowing backwards and pulling
the lawnmower towards you.
• Switch the lawnmower off when tilting it, running on empty or
transporting the lawnmower, e.g. to/from a lawn or along paths.
• Never
use the lawnmower if safety devices are faulty or miss-
ing, such as deflector and/or grass catchment devices.
Caution: do not touch running cutters.
• Always keep hands and feet away from rotating parts. Do not
stand in front of the grass ejector opening.
Never lift or carry a lawnmower while the motor is running.
Never open the guard flap while the motor is still running.
Before removing the grass catchment device, turn off the
motor and wait until the cutting gear has stopped running.
After emptying the grass catchment device, reattach carefully.
Never drive across gravel while the motor is running
impacting stones!
• Avoid mowing wet grass where possible.
Switch off the lawnmower, pull the mains plug and wait for
the lawnmower to stop running if, for example:
a) leaving the lawnmower
b) unblocking a blade
c) intending to check, clean or work on the lawnmower
d) you have encountered a foreign object, in which case you
should check the lawnmower for damage and carry out
any necessary repairs.
e) the lawnmower is vibrating heavily (switch off immediately
and ascertain the cause).
f) you wish to change the settings or carry out cleaning work.
g) you wish to check whether the connection cables have
become tangled or damaged.
If the lawnmower has a wheel actuation device, this must not
be started simultaneously with the motor.
If the connection cable is damaged during use, it must be
immediately disconnected from the mains power supply.
Do not touch the cable before it has been disconnected from
the mains power supply.
Maintenance
• Always switch off the motor and pull the mains plug before
carrying out maintenance and cleaning work.
Never spray down the lawnmower using water, especially not
at high pressure.
Regularly check and tighten all visible fastening screws and
nuts, especially those relating to the cutting bar, to ensure a
firm fit.
Caution! Always have blades changed or re-sharpened by a
specialist workshop, since a balance test must be carried out
as specified in the safety regulations following any removal
of parts.
Only use original WOLF spare parts. Otherwise we cannot
guarantee that your lawnmower conforms to the safety regu-
lations.
Never park your lawnmower in damp rooms.
For safety reasons, replace worn or damaged parts.

Instructions for the use of WOLF battery-powered
mowers
For maximum pleasure from your battery-powered mower
and to be able to exploit the maximum performance from the
battery capacity, please note the following instructions.
The area that can be mown by your battery-powered
mower is dependent on various factors. These are:
Type of lawn
Battery-powred lawnmowers are suitable for lawns the are
mown frequently, normally, and, to a certain extent, for lawns
that have not been cut for a while after holidays. The surface
area that can be mown does however decrease in the order
given above. Battery-powered mowers are not suitable for
infrequently-mown meadows or similar.
Lawn structure
The area that can be mown decreases in proportion to the
density of the grass. The mowing capability is lowest on
extremely dense grass, e. g. golf greens.
Lawn condition
The lawn condition (dry, dewy, wet) makes a considerable
difference to the mowing capacity. The greatest area can
be mown when the grass is dry. If the lawn is wet, most of
the energy is spent on cutting and collecting, leading to a
correspondingly low mowing capability.
Mowing/walking speed
O
The walking speed inuences the duration of mowing
and therefore the area that can be covered. We therefore
recommend rapid mowing. The mowing path should not be
covered twice if possible and the overlap of mowing tracks
should be kept as minimal as possible. Frquently switching
the mower on and off likewise decreases the battery‘s
power.
Charging
F
1. Remove switch key (1)
2. Connect charge plug to battery (2)
3. Insert plug charger in socket, red lamp lights up on plug
charger (3)
4. Battery is fully charged when this lamp goes out
Attention! Only use the charger in dry rooms!
Changing the battery
G
Remove the starter key (1)
Depress the release handle to change the battery (2)
Always ensure that the battery-powered mower‘s
cutter is sharp.
Mowers with lead batteries must be charged before
being put into storage for winter, and also after each
mowing.
• Do not transport the mower by the handle of the
inserted battery.
Charge times with the enclosed charging unit:
Rechargeable battery 24 V / 12 Ah approx. 40-60
hours.
Only use the supplied battery charger or the WOLF
fast-charger SLG 200, part no. 4946070.
Ensure that the charging plug is correctly seated.
The mower cannot be switched on during the
charging process.

Safety switch
In case of overload or blocking, the motor shuts down
automatically!
Remove switch key and eliminate problem.
Overload:
Cutting height is too low, or forward speed is too fast
Blocking:
Foreign object in cutting area (e.g. branches)
The machine can be switched on again after about 5 min.
Operation
This lawnmower is equipped with a soft starter
for the motor. Once the handle switch
has been actuated, the operating speed of the
motor is reached after approx. 2 seconds.
After the mower has been switched off via the
handle switch, it can only be switched on again
after a period of
approx. 5 seconds. during this period, the
braking energy released from the motor is fed
back into the battery.
It is also possible to switch on the lawnmower
when the battery electronics are not switched on.
Always remove the switch key if you mowe
away from the lawnmower or when carrying out
maintenance work.
Checking the charge
K
To check the charge of the battery, set switch (1) briey on
and off. Do not leave switch (1) on.
Tips for mowing
O
To prevent strips of grass from being left unmowed, the
cutting paths must always overlap a few centimeters.
Always turn the mower on a surface that has already been
mowed.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Note: Remove switch key before cleaning or per-
forming maintenance work. Attention: Keep hands
clear of moving blade.
Clean mower thoroughly after each mowing with cloth or
brush.
Do not spray with water. Keep mower in a dry room.
Change of cutter blade
P
ATTENTION! Change of blades or re-sharpening
should only be carried out by an approved service
station as the work should include the proper che-
cking of the blade balance in accordance with safety regu-
lations.
For changing the cutter bar please follow illustration. Torque
wrench setting for screw 18–22 Nm.
Use original spare parts only.
Winter Storage
Clean mower thoroughly before storing away.
Have your mower thoroughly checked once a year by an
approved Service Centre.
Do not store it in a wet or humid place.
