1. Safety instructions
In the interest of promoting the safest and most efficient use of the Models CS 27EPAP(S) and CS 27EPA(S)
Engine Pole Saws by all of our customers, it is very important when concluding a sale that the salesperson
carefully ensure that the customer seriously recognizes the importance of the Handling Instructions, and fully
understands the precautions listed on the Warning Label attached to each unit.
For how to handle, maintain, inspect, and store the Engine Pole Saws, refer to the Handling Instructions, and
instruct the customer on proper use, particularly how to conduct inspection. Also pay attention to the supply
system for consumables and the system for product repair.
A. Handling instructions
Although every effort is made in each step of design, manufacture and inspection to provide protection
against safety hazards, the dangers inherent in the use of any Engine Pole Saw cannot be completely
eliminated. Accordingly, specific precautions and suggestions on the use of the Engine Pole Saw are listed in
the Handling Instructions to enhance the safe and efficient use of the tool by the customer. Salespersons
must be thoroughly familiar with the Handling Instructions in order to offer appropriate guidance to the
customer during sales promotion activities.
B. Warning label
The warning label attached to the engine pole saws describes precautions on the safe use of the product.
(1) The following precaution is listed on the caution plate attached to the front handle.
(2) The following precaution is listed on the cylinder cover of the engine.
[For Europe]
(3) Meanings of symbols
Read and understand the meaning of each symbol described in the Handling Instructions, and properly
instruct the users.
PRECAUTIONS ON SALES PROMOTION

2. Specific instructions for customers
(1) Starting and stopping procedures
Thoroughly instruct the customers about the difference between the cold starting procedure and hot
restarting procedure, and also on the importance of starting with the throttle lever set to the idling
position.
(2) Fuel safety
x The engine used by the Models CS 27EPAP(S) and CS 27EPA(S) is of a two-cycle design. Instruct the
customers to use a fuel mixture of gasoline and two-cycle oil at a ratio of 50 : 1.
x Instruct the customers to use a container intended for mixing gasoline and oil. The use of resin
containers such as poly tanks and PET bottles may cause failure due to deterioration and melting when
in contact with the fuel mixture.
x Fuel stored for a long time will degrade and deteriorate. In addition, improper capping may degrade the
fuel in only one day, especially in the summer months. Instruct the customers not to store the fuel
mixture, and only prepare the required amount when necessary.
(3) Chain oil
Instruct the customers to use Hitachi chain saw oil (1 liter) sold separately or commercially available
SAE20 or SAE30 engine oil.
Remind the customers to always replenish the chain oil when replenishing the fuel.
(4) Adjusting saw chain tension
Low saw chain tension may damage the blades or guide bar, and even result in blades being detached
under extremely low tension. In particular, new saw chain tend to quickly elongate; therefore, advise the
customers to frequently adjust saw chain tension.
(5) Storage
Instruct the customers to empty the fuel tank and perform idling until the engine stops, in order to burn up
all residual fuel in the carburetor before long-term storage. If any fuel remains in the carburetor, gasoline
in the fuel mixture will volatilize during the storage period and the two-cycle oil will clog the fuel line. As a
result, the engine will not start up the next time.
