Power Button
While in the shutdown mode, press and hold this button (for about 2-3 sec) to power on your IdeaPad Tablet K1.
After your IdeaPad Tablet K1 is powered on, press this button to turn off the illuminated screen display. While the
screen display is off, press this button again to re-illuminate the screen.
After your IdeaPad Tablet K1 is powered on, press and hold this button (for about 2-3 sec) to bring up IdeaPad Tablet
K1. Power off pop-up box; press OK to shut down IdeaPad Tablet K1.
After your IdeaPad Tablet K1 is powered on, press and hold this button (for about 6 sec) to forced shutdown.
Volume Button
Adjusts the volume.
Screen Rotation Lock Button
Toggle the button UP to unlock the screen orientation, allowing screen rotation.
Toggle the button DOWN to lock the screen orientation, not allowing screen rotation.
*SIM card socket
The SIM card slot is located on the upper right of the device frame. In the Power off mode, insert the end of a sharp-
pointed object into the small hole above the socket until the stopper pin pops out, and then insert the SIM card. To
remove the SIM card, push the stopper down with your finger until it pops out.
1-3 Powering IdeaPad Tablet K1 On/Off
Powering IdeaPad Tablet K1 On
Press and hold the "Power" button on the upper left of IdeaPad Tablet K1, and the Lenovo and startup screens display in
sequence, indicating that IdeaPad Tablet K1 has been powered on.
Powering IdeaPad Tablet K1 Off
Press and hold the "Power" button on the upper left of IdeaPad Tablet K1 until <Power off> appears.

Turning Screen Backlight On
In the standby mode, you can tap the "Power" button on the upper left of the IdeaPad Tablet K1 to "wake" the screen up.
The device's screen will then light up, indicating that the backlight has been turned on.
Turning Screen Backlight Off
If your IdeaPad Tablet K1 is powered on and you do not use it temporarily, you can tap the "Power" button on its upper left
to turn off the screen backlight. Your IdeaPad Tablet K1 will enter the standby mode to save power.
1-5 Screen Lock/Unlock
Lock Screen
Auto Lock
You can set Screen timeout in <Screen> under " Settings". If there is no operation within the preset standby time,
then the screen backlight will automatically turn off, and the device will be locked.

Manual Lock
If your IdeaPad Tablet K1 is powered on and you do not use it temporarily, you can tap the "Power" button on its upper left
to dim the screen display down. The device will then enter the standby mode and become locked.
How to Unlock
Once in the standby mode, tap the "Power" button on the upper left of IdeaPad Tablet K1 to brighten the screen display
back up to normal level. You can also tap the lock icon by following on-screen instructions to unlock the screen, as shown in
the figure below:
Screen Lock Pattern Settings
You can touch <Lock screen> in <Location & security> under "Settings" to set the screen lock pattern. After this function
has been enabled, you will need to draw your unlock pattern in order to unlock the screen before you can use your device.

1-9 Home Screen
This desktop enables you to quickly view and open your most frequently used applications.
In the home screen, you can add widgets or shortcuts, and change your wallpaper.
Touch to add widgets and shortcuts, and to change your wallpaper. Drag the widget, shortcut, or other item to
the home screen panel you want.
To delete something on the home screen, touch and hold the desired gadget until a Trash Bin icon appears on the
upper right corner, and then drag and drop the gadget icon onto the Trash Bin icon.

You can slide the screen with your finger to switch the display, and move icons among home screens.
1-11 Status Bar
The system message(s), if any, will be displayed in the lower right corner of IdeaPad Tablet K1.
You can get the information about WLAN connection status, Signal level, Power level, Charging status and other detail
notifications about your tablet.
Touch the Status bar, display the Notification Panel. Press button can open the detail setting view, including Airplane
mode switch, Wi-fi setting shortcut, brightness adjustment toolbar, notifications switch, settings shortcut, etc..
1-12 Recent Apps
Your tablet remembers the apps you used recently.
Touch to see your recent apps list. Touch an app to open it.

1-14 Entering Text
When using your IdeaPad Tablet K1, you can easily enter text from the virtual keyboard directly onto the touch screen,
such as when adding contact information into Contacts or typing and editing SMS messages. You can also directly input
Chinese characters, English letters and digit symbols onto the touch screen.
Switch Input Method Editor
Press and hold the input box to display the soft keyboard.
System keyboard
Toggle between letters/numbers
Touch / to toggle between letters and numbers. Touch to see more special characters.
Touch and hold Shift to enter capital letters until you release it. Double-touch Shift
Touch it again to unlock.
Touch and hold to enter numbers/special characters until you release it.
Input options
Touch on the keyboard to open Input options menu. You can select Input languages
keyboard settings on this menu.
Voice input

You can download Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1 Synchronization Software from support.lenovo.com. Synchronization Software
support the following Operation System:
Windows XP (SP2 or later versions) English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese
Windows 7 English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese
"Match" is the key function of Synchronization Software. After you match your IdeaPad Tablet K1 to Synchronization
Software, you can manage the media library of your IdeaPad Tablet K1 using Synchronization Software. You can also
synchronize recent items from your PC to your IdeaPad Tablet K1 and access those files using LeTrace. Without Match, you
can only copy some files from PC to IdeaPad Tablet K1.
You can match multiple IdeaPad Tablet K1's to Synchronization Software.

Connecting to the Internet

Network support is required for accessing the Internet with the web
browser. If there are any problems with your network support, please
consult your network operator or service provider directly.
The web browser in your IdeaPad Tablet K1 can access the Internet via
the WIFI network for business and personal use.
Touch " Browser" in the applications list to open the browser.
The browser supports the following functions:
Input web address
Touch the input text box, and input the web address with the popup soft
keyboard. Then touch on the soft keyboard to open the web
page.
Exit
Touch " Back" on the bottom bar to quit the browser.
Bookmarks
You can save bookmarks to your favorite web pages and navigate to
them in seconds. It contains 2 tabs:

Displays a list of the web addresses that you have added to your
Favorites. You can also add a bookmark. Press and hold web icons to
open the popup window for editing links. You can open, edit, copy,
share, delete the selected website, create shortcuts, set as desktop and
do other operations.
History:
Displays a list of the web addresses that you have recently browsed.
New Window/Window
This function is mainly used to open a new web page, or to toggle
among several previously opened windows.
Tabbed browsing:
You can open several web pages in the same window to multiply your
web surfing fun. Touch to open a new tab. To see a web page,
just touch its tab. Touch on a tab to close it.
Additional Functions
Refresh:
Touch to manually refresh the web page.
Forward/Backward:
Touch to go to the next page or return
to the previous page.
Select text: Select text in the current page for copying.
Add/Edit Bookmark:
Touch to bookmark current page. Touch
to manage your bookmark.
More options:
Touch to display an option list. These options
include new tab, new incognito tab, find on page, share page, page info,
downloads and settings.
Zoom Pages In/Out: You can automatically fit the page to the screen
size, and zoom the page in/out by enlarging/reducing the distance
between your two fingers while touching the screen.

Within the applications list, touch " App Shop" to open the App
Shop interface. NOTE: Network support is required before you can use
this application. If there is any problem with your network support,
please consult your network operator or service provider.
After entering the <New> page, you can toggle among the upper tabs
<All Categories>, <New>, <Bestsellers>, <Recommended> and <All>,

Within the calendar page, touch to create a new event. You can
also create a new event by touching and holding a time.
Manage Calendar Events
You can switch among the Day view, Week view and Month View by
tapping the appropriate tab at the top of the page.
Day view: Touch and hold an event in the day view to create, view, edit
or delete that event.
Week view: Touch and hold an event in the week view to create, view,
edit and delete that event.
Month view: Touch any date in the month view to enter Week view.
then you can manage events in week view.
NOTE: Within any "Calendar" view, you can easily return to the current
day or the current week and month simply by tapping the "
Today" button at the top of the page from any other day, week or
month view.
3-3 Camera
Touch " Camera" in the applications list to open the photo taking
and video recording preview interface. The found view will display on the
screen. From this display, you can perform the following operations:
Switch Cameras
Your pad provides you with two cameras. On cameras interface, tap
/ to switch cameras, then select a camera you need.
Photos
Taking Photos
In the photo taking preview interface, touch on the screen to
take snapshots. You can touch and to adjust the size of
photo (from Zoom 1.2x to Zoom 8.0x).
Video Recorder: Switches to the video recording mode.

In the photo taking preview interface, touch Photo Preview on the
screen to open the photo preview interface. Here, you can set and play
photo slideshows.
Photo Saving Location
Any photos you take will be saved in the < Gallery> application.
In the applications list, touch "Gallery" to open the list of all the photos
you have taken.

Video Recording
In the video recording preview interface, touch on the screen to
start recording, or touch to stop recording.

Viewing Videos
A thumbnail image of the last previously recorded video will be
displayed in the lower left corner of the video recording preview
interface. Touch the thumbnail to open the video play interface.

start the application. You can view the recorded videos in <Camera>.

Touch " Clock" in the applications list to open the Clock view.
To add an alarm, touch Set alarm, then touch Add alarm.
When an alarm sounds, touch Dismiss to turn it off or Snooze to delay
for ten minutes.
3-5 Contacts
Touch " Contacts" in the applications list.
Add contact
Within the Contacts main page, touch " New" to open the <New
contact> interface, and then input the relevant information for that
contact. Tap the <Done> button when you have finished.
Edit contact
Within the Contacts details page, tap the button to enter the
editing mode, and then you can editing your contacts.
3-6 Email
Network support is required for using your IdeaPad Tablet K1's mailbox.
If there are any problems with your network support, please consult
your network operator or service provider directly.
Touch " Email" in the applications list.
3-7 File Mgmt.
Touch " File Mgmt." in the applications list to bring up the file
management application, which enables you to browse and manage any

and all of the files stored locally on your Pad.
Root
Tap the <Root> button at the upper right corner of the page to quickly
return to the root directory for local storage.
New
Tap the "Operation" button to create a new folder, Word file, Excel file
and Power Point file. You can also edit the name of any folder or file.
After you touch OK, the system will then inform you that the file has
been created successfully.
Edit
Tap the "Edit" button to edit the files and folders in the < File
Mgmt.> list. Editing actions include Copy, Move, Delete and
Compress.
Copy/Paste: Within the < File Mgmt.> list, select one or more files
and touch "Copy" under "Operation". Then select the location
where you want to paste to, and touch "Paste".
Move: Within the < File Mgmt.> list, select one or more files and
touch "Move" under "Operation". Then select the location where
you want to move the file(s) to, and touch "Paste" to complete the
move.
Delete: Within the < File Mgmt.> list, select one or more files, and
then touch "Delete" under "Operation" to delete the file(s).
Compress: Within the < File Mgmt.> list, select one or more files
and touch "Compress" under "Operation". You will then need to fill
in and save the name of the compressed file. After the file has
been compressed, the file cabinet will be saved into the directory
of the file automatically.
Decompress: Navigate to the directory of the file you wish to
decompress. Once a file cabinet has been touched, the system will
ask you whether you want to decompress the file cabinet. If you
touch <OK>, the files will be decompressed and extracted into the
directory of the cabinet automatically.
3-8 Gallery
Touch " Gallery" to start the <Gallery> application. In the picture
application homepage, the top fixed toolbar tab automatically displays
the photos by album. You can also select how to display your photos: by
album, by time, by location or by tags.
