Safety instructions
For your safety, these instructions must be
followed carefully. The manufacturer will accept
no responsibility for damage or injury caused
as a result of failure to comply with these
instructions. Such failure will invalidate the
manufacturer's guarantee.
Before disposing of an old unit it is imperative to
render it inoperative. To do this, unplug the appliance
and cut the connection lead at the appliance end.
Ensure that the closing mechanism for the appliance
door has been rendered inoperable.
All packaging and the materials used in the applian-
ce itself are recyclable, and this should be taken into
account when they are to be disposed of. Your retai-
ler or your local authority will be able to advise you on
environmentally responsible methods of disposal.
This new appliance is intended for the domestic free-
zing of food and it is unsuitable for any other purpose.
Installation must be carried out in accordance with
the instructions in this manual: incorrect installation
may damage the appliance.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLY:
. The appliance is designed to work on a 10/16A
earthed supply in conformity with regulations gover-
ning electrical safety. The law requires that the
appliance should be earthed.
. It is inadvisable to use adapters or extension leads.
. Ensure that the power lead is not in contact with the
compressor or trapped underneath the appliance
.
The power socket must remain accessible at all
times.
The freezer circuit contains isobutane coolant.
This natural gas has a low pollution index but it
is also inflammable. Ensure that no part of the
refrigeration circuit is damaged during
transport and installation of the appliance. In
the event of damage, keep the appliance well

Installation
Putting into service
Set up the appliance in a dry, well-ven-
tilated room, well away from any heat
source. Ensure that there is a clearan-
ce of 10 centimetres on all sides of the
freezer. The ventilation grills of your
freezer must never be covered or obs-
tructed.
Remove the packing plinth used in
transporting the appliance from
beneath your freezer. Free passage of
air below the appliance is necessary
for cooling the compressor.
Ensure that there is sufficient space
for the lid to be fully opened. The
freezer should be placed on a dry,
level floor.
The climate classification is indicated
on the identification plate. This shows
the range of ambient temperatures for
which the freezer unit is designed and
for which its correct operation is gua-
ranteed.
Before use
• Wash out the interior with a mixture
of lukewarm water and vinegar or
non-perfumed soap. Rinse and dry
thoroughly.
• Before connecting to the electricity
supply, allow the appliance to stand for
2 hours to allow the coolant liquid to
settle.
• On the mechanical control panel,
ensure that the thermostat is turned to
"0" (or "Stop").
Plug in the power cable (H)
For models with a mechanical
control panel:
- The green (pilot) and red (warning)
lights should be illuminated.
- Adjust the temperature by turning the
thermostat dial to the middle position.
- On models with an audible alarm, a
signal will be heard. This is quite
normal and can be stopped by
pressing the "Super" button.
- Allow the freezer to run for about 4
hours: the warning light should then
go out.
For models with an electronic
control panel:
When plugging the appliance in, or
after a power failure, a five minutes
delay is necessary before the com-
pressor starts.
The display panel (2) will light up and
show "- -" (freezer compartment
temperature above zero).
The warning light (7) will be illumina-
ted and the audible alarm will be
activated. This can be stopped by
pressing the OK button (4).
Set the desired temperature as
follows:
- Press the "+" button (3) for about
half a second. The temperature
display flashes.
- Press the "+" button (3) again if you
require a lower temperature.
- Press "-" (1) if you require a higher
temperature.
The temperature may be set between
-16°C and -26°C.

Note: the temperature displayed is the
highest temperature within the freezer
compartment.
After 5 seconds a double beep indica-
tes that the temperature change has
been registered and the display shows
the temperature within the freezer
compartment (this will show as "- - "
where the temperature is above zero).
Allow the freezer to run for about 4
hours; the warning light should then
go out. The temperature displayed
should be approximately as set.
CHILD SECURITY
In order to avoid unwanted changes
to the control settings, they can be
locked (to prevent them being altered
by children).
To activate this function, press but-
tons + and - (3 and 1) for at least one
second. The message LL flashes for
5 seconds and is then confirmed by a
double beep.
If you press a button after the child
security function has been activated,
the message LL will be displayed and
a double beep will sound.
To deactivate this function, press but-
tons + and - (3 and 1) for at least one
second.
STORING FOOD (-18oC)
When SUPER FREEZE (indicator light
5) is not activated, your freezer works
in storage mode. In this mode you
should place in the freezer compart-
ment only food items which are alrea-
dy frozen and wrapped.
Maximum storage times depend on
the nature of the food product. It is
however advisable to activate the
SUPER FREEZE function for 24 hours
prior to placing food items in the free-
zer compartment.
FREEZING
Freezing capacity is the maximum
quantity of items that the appliance
can freeze from ambient temperature
to -18°C in 24 hours. This quantity is
indicated on the identification plate at
the back of the appliance (l).
- Switch on SUPER FREEZE for 24
hours prior to placing in the freezer
compartmentany products or water
containers, or any other fresh food
items for freezing.
Continue SUPER FREEZE operation
for about 24 hours.
Models with electronic control
panel:
Switch on the SUPER FREEZE func-
tion by pressing the multifunction but-

ton (4) until the SUPER display (5)
appears. Continue SUPER FREEZE
operation for 24 hours before placing
fresh items in the freezer
compartment. The SUPER function
switches off automatically after 48
hours. To switch it off during this
period press the OK button (4).
If the child security function is
activated, see the section above for
instructions on deactivating it before
carrying out this operation.
You are then able to:
- use your appliance's freezer function
again or
- leave the appliance in storage mode.
To ensure more rapid freezing, where
possible, place items to be frozen in
contact with the base or the sides of
the compartment.
Do not place fresh items in contact
with those that are already frozen.
If you intend freezing items over a
period of several days, it is necessary
to limit the overall quantity of items to
be frozen.
NOTE: The warning light may go on
for a few moments when items are
being placed in the freezer
compartment. This is normal and does
not indicate a malfunction.
Recommendations:
Only freeze food products that are
fresh, carefully cleaned and properly
wrapped.
Label each pack with the date of
freezing, weight or number of portions
and the nature of the item.
Do not place bottles or cans of fizzy
drinks in your freezer: they may explode.
You are advised not to eat certain
items, such as ice, at too low a tempe-
rature.
Never re-freeze a defrosted item; it
must be consumed immediately.
Do not open the freezer compartment
lid more than necessary so as to avoid
a rise in temperature and the build-up
of frost inside the compartment.
STORAGE GUIDE FOR FROZEN
FOODS
Energy saving
Allow foods to cool before putting
them in the freezer.
When your freezer is in STORAGE
mode, we would recommend that you
set the thermostat to maintain a tem-
perature of -18oC inside the freezer
compartment.
When only the lower half of the freezer
compartment is full, you can set the
thermostat to position 3 or ECO
(depending on model) to reduce
power consumption.
On the electronic model, to switch on
this function, press the OK button (4)
until ECO (6) is displayed.
The temperature displayed is only
guaranteed to be accurate for the
lower part of the freezer compart-
ment.
Remove dust from the condenser grill
(F) at the back of the appliance to ensu-
re a free flow of air between the cooling
vanes.

14
The presence of frost causes excessi-
ve energy consumption in any freezer.
We would recommend that you defrost
your freezer once or twice a year or
whenever the build-up of ice is greater
than one centimetre in thickness.
You can also from time to time remove
any frost layer that has built up by
using a scraper or similar plastic tool.
On no account use any metal tool
or electrical appliance to remove
frost build-up.
Defrosting should ideally be carried
out when the freezer is not too full.
Press the SUPER FREEZE button 24
hours before defrosting to ensure that
frozen items are at the lowest possible
temperature. Remove items from the
freezer compartment and place them
in a refrigerator or in a very cool place.
FOR FREEZERS WITH A MANUAL
DEFROST
Unplug the freezer from the mains.
Place the multi-function tray (K) or
another suitable recipient underneath
the appliance.
During the defrosting process remove
the frost using a wooden or plastic
scraper.
Remove the drainage bung (J) and
wash the freezer compartment with
tepid, slightly soapy water. NEVER
use scouring powders, abrasive
sponges or strong cleaning fluids such
as alcohol or solvents.
Rinse with clean water, dry carefully and
leave the lid open for a few minutes.
After replacing the drainage bung (J),
reconnect the appliance and switch on
the SUPER FREEZE function.
Replace food items in the freezer.
Defrosting should be carried out as
rapidly as possible so as to avoid any
excessive warming of frozen food
items which could reduce their maxi-
mum storage time.
FOR FREEZERS WITH EXPRESS-
DEFROST
The rapid defrost works by warming
the walls of the freezer compartment
and thus causing frost and ice to be
removed rapidly.
This system
· saves energy
· saves time
· is easy to use
· makes cleaning simpler.
You should use the Express defrost
function whenever the defrost
indicator (L) is completely covered
(i.e. when the red star is not visible).
This indicator will be found on the
right-hand side of the freezer
compartment near to the tray runner.
Instructions for use:
1) Switch on the express defrost
function.
To access DE adjustment mode, press
simultaneously on the 2 "+" and "-"
buttons (3 and 1) until the flashing let-
ters "DE" appear (2) then hold until
you hear a double “beep”. Confirm this
function by pressing on the OK button
(4) until you hear a double “beep”.
“DE” will then be continuously
displayed.

2) Open the lid (A).
The lid should be kept open
throughout the defrosting process.
3) Defrosting stops automatically.
Once rapid defrosting is complete, the
digital display (2) will flash 'DE' and
the beep will sound.
4) Cleaning and drying the freezer
compartment.
Slide the multi-function tray (K) under
the freezer just below the drainage
outlet.
Remove the drainage bung (J) at the
bottom of the freezer compartment to
carry away the water.
Remove any remaining frost from the
sides of the freezer compartment
using a wooden or plastic scraper.
Remove the mixture of frost and
water.
Dry the interior with a clean cloth.
Replace the multi-function tray (K).
Replace the drainage bung (J)
Press the OK button (4) once for at
least 2 seconds to restore normal
mode as you did when the machine
was first switched on. (This is confor-
med by a double beep signal).
5) Loading the freezer
Replace food items in the freezer
compartment without delay.
Close the lid.
In the event of a power cut: if this is
known in advance, activate SUPER
FREEZE 24 hours before, if possible.
Do not open the freezer during the
power cut.
Residual freezer temperature
If your freezer is three-quarters full,
the residual low temperature of the
contents will prevent any abnormal
rise in temperature.
If your freezer contains only a small
number of items, we would advise you
to place in the freezer compartment
plastic containers filled with water. As
these freeze they will provide the
necessary residual low temperature.
If your freezer is to be switched off for
a long period it should be unplugged
from the mains supply. We would
recommend that you leave the lid
slightly open to provide proper aera-
tion for your freezer.
Replacing the bulb
Disconnect from the mains supply.
Remove the light fitting by gently
releasing the two clips on either side
of the upper part of the fitting using a
pointed instrument or a flat
screwdriver blade.
Unscrew the bulb and replace it with a
bulb of the same type (E14). The
maximum permissible rating is shown
alongside the bulb.
Reassemble the light fitting.

Trouble-shooting
Some noise is normal in freezers:
Coolants may produce a bubbling noise as they cir-
culate through the appliance.
The compressor may produce a hum which will be
louder as it starts up.
Expansion and contraction of parts of the appliance
may produce an occasional cracking noise.
If the freezer is not working at all:
Check that the plug (H) is firmly connected to the soc-
ket that the fuse has not blown and that the trip-switch
has not functioned.
If the freezer is not freezing sufficiently:
Check the thermostat and ensure that the lid (A) is
only opened for the
shortest time possible. Check that the lid is closing
properly.
If the motor runs all the time:
Ensure that the freezer is properly ventilated and that
spaces around it have been left as explained under
"Installation". Check that your appliance is not expo-
sed to any nearby heat source.
It is also possible that you may have placed too many
food items in the freezer compartment or that the lid
is not properly closed.
If the temperature rises abnormally inside the
freezer compartment, the warning light comes on
together with the audible beep (depending on model).
On the model equipped with an electronic
control:
In the event that the thermostat's sensor malfunc-
tions, the "SF" message will be displayed on the
handle. The freezer then switches over to "safety
mode" and continues operating, all the time guaran-
teeing a sufficient temperature.
Should this occur, please contact the technical
assistance department.
It is recommended that you do not press any of
the buttons when the appliance is in "safety
mode".

Installatie Eerste gebruik
Installeer de vrieskist in een goed
verluchte niet-vochtige ruimte zonder
warmtebronnen in de buurt. Zorg
ervoor dat er rondom de vrieskist een
tussenruimte van 10 cm vrij blijft.
Hou de verluchtingsgaten van de
vrieskist vrij.
Verwijder de verpakkingsplaat onder
de vrieskist (deze dient enkel voor het
transport). De vrije luchtstroom aan de
onderzijde van de vrieskist zorgt voor
de afkoeling van de compressor.
Zorg ervoor dat u het deksel van de
vrieskist ver genoeg kunt openen. De
grond dient vlak en droog te zijn.
De vriesklasse staat op het infoplaatje
vermeld. Deze klasse geeft aan tot
welke omgevingstemperatuur de vries-
kist een goede werking garandeert.
Wat te doen vóór het eerste
gebruik?
• Reinig de binnenzijde van de
vrieskist met lauw water waaraan u
wat azijn of geurloze zeep toevoegt.
Spoel en droog de binnenzijde goed
af.
• Wacht vervolgens ongeveer 2 uur
alvorens de stekker in het stopcontact
te steken. Zo kan de vriesvloeistof
zich stabiliseren.
• Bij een mechanisch bedieningspa-
neel controleert u vervolgens of de
thermostaat op "0" (of "Stop") staat.
Steek de stekker (H) van de
voedingskabel in het stopcontact.
Op de modellen met een
mechanisch bedieningspaneel :
- lichten het groene lampje (vrieskist
staat AAN) en rode lampje (alarm) op.
- Stel nu de temperatuur in met de
thermostaat in het midden van het
bedieningspaneel.
- Op de modellen met geluidsalarm zal
het alarm afgaan zodra het rode
lampje oplicht. Druk op de "Super"-
toets om het geluidsalarm te stoppen.
- Laat de vrieskist ongeveer 4 uur
werken. Het rode alarmlampje zal dan
uitgaan.
Op de modellen met een elektro-
nisch bedieningspaneel :
Bij het aanzetten van het diepvriesap-
paraat of tijdens een stroomonderbre-
king heeft de
compressor 5 minuten nodig om te
worden ingeschakeld.
licht de display (2) op en verschijnt
"- -" op de display (temperatuur boven
0°C in de vriesruimte).
Het alarmlampje (7) licht op en u hoort
het geluidsalarm. Druk op de OK-toets
(4) om het geluidsalarm te stoppen.
U kan de temperatuur als volgt
instellen :
- druk kort op de "+"-toets (3) en de
temperatuur op de display gaat knip-
peren.
- druk nogmaals op de "+"-toets (3)
indien u de temperatuur wil verlagen.
- druk op de "-"-toets (1) indien u de
temperatuur wil verhogen.
De temperatuur kan tussen -16°C
en -26°C worden ingesteld.

Problemen en oplos-
singen
Elke vrieskist maakt typische geluiden :
Het koelgas dat in de koelkring rondstroomt,
kan een licht borrelend geluid maken.
De compressor kan een ronkend geluid maken
dat bij het in gebruik nemen van de vrieskist
sterker is.
De gebruikte materialen kunnen uitzetten of
samentrekken en daarbij een krakend geluid
maken.
De vrieskist werkt niet : Controleer of
de stekker (H) goed in het stopcontact zit, de
zekering niet is gesmolten en de schakelaar niet
is gesprongen.
De vrieskist koelt niet voldoende af :
Controleer de thermostaat en laat het deksel
van de vrieskist nooit lang openstaan.
Controleer eveneens of het deksel wel goed
afsluit.
doende lage temperatuur blijft. Contacteer in
dit geval de Technische Dienst. Wij raden u
aan niet op de toetsen te drukken indien de
diepvriezer in de stand "veiligheid" staat.
