applications,andotherinformationfromanotherMaccomputer.Youcandothiswith
oneofthefollowingmethods:
ÂUsingaFireWirecabletoconnectthetwocomputerstogetherandtransferthe
information
ÂUsinganEthernetcableconnecteddirectlybetweenbothcomputers,orconnecting
bothcomputerstothesamenetwork
ÂWirelessly—directlybetweenbothcomputers,orwithbothcomputersonthesame
wirelessnetwork
Beforeperformingmigration,useSoftwareUpdateonyourotherMac.TheotherMac
shouldhaveoneoftheseversionsofMacOSXsoftware—eitherMacOSXv10.4.11or
MacOSXv10.5.6(orlater).
Youcanchoosetheitems(useraccounts,documents,movies,music,photos,andsoon)
thatyouwanttomigratetoyourMacBookPro.
Important: Don’tusetheotherMacforanythingelseuntilthemigrationiscomplete.
Ifyoudon’tuseSetupAssistanttotransferinformationwhenyourststartup,youcan
doitlaterusingMigrationAssistant.Iftheconnectionisterminatedduringmigration,
youcanresumethemigrationatalatertimeusingMigrationAssistantonyour
MacBookProandyourotherMac.GototheApplicationsfolder,openUtilities,and
double-clickMigrationAssistant.
