Keeping the RM Slate Clean
Use the microfiber cloth that came in your package to clean the touchscreen.
Avoid getting moisture in openings. Do not use aerosol, sprays, solvents,
alcohol or abrasives to clean the device.
Using Connectors and Ports
Never force a connector into a port. Check for any obstructions on the port.
Ensure that the connector matches the port and that you have positioned the
connector correctly in relation to the port.
Glass Parts
The glass touchscreen could break if the device is dropped on a hard surface
or suffers a substantial impact. Glass cracked due to abuse or misuse is not
covered under warranty.

Using the Camera
How can I take a still picture or video with the built-in camera?
The free Google software “Picasa” has a small button that looks like a camera.
Click that button to take a still picture or video. Picasa can be downloaded at
http://picasa.google.com
Display settings
What are the best display settings for a bright screen with large icons?
Go to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display Select: Medium
125% to increase the size of icons to make them easier to select with your finger.
In the left panel you can select “Adjust brightness”. Drag the slider on the bottom
of the window to get maximum brightness.
Rotation control
Is it possible to “lockthe slate so it doesn’t change from landscape to portrait view?
Yes. On the task bar, click the up arrow to access the hidden icons. One of the
icons looks like a green gear. It’s called Millennium. By default “automatic screen
rotation” is selected. Deselect this option.
Connecting to a projector
Can the Slate connect to a projector?
Yes. RM Education sells a device called Cables to Go Wireless VGA kit
0029-ACCU-29596. You can also use a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable to connect to
projectors that have HDMI inputs.
Calibrating the screen
How can I calibrate the screen for touch accuracy?
1. Click Start>Control Panel> ‘Hardware and Sound’.
2. In the Tablet PC Settings tab, click ‘Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input’.
3. When the dialog box appears, click Calibrate.
4. Where each cross-hair appears, touch with your finger.
5. Click Yes, to save the data.
