CO2 Solenoid Valve (Art No. 6064)

1. General user instructions

1.1 Information about the rse of the rser instructions

Before using the device for the first time, the user instructions must be fully

read and understood.

Consider the user instructions to be a part of the product and keep them

safely and readily accessible.

Include these user instructions when passing on the device to a third party.

1.2 Explanation of the symbols

The following symbols are used on the device:

The device must only be used indoors for aquaristic application areas.

IP65 This symbol indicates that the device is protected against spray water.

The device is certified in accordance with the respective national regulations

and guidelines and complies with the EU standards.

The following symbols and signal words are used in these user instructions:

2. Applications

The device and all items included in the scope of supply are intended for use in private

areas and must be exclusively used:

• For the control of C02 fertilizer systems in fresh water aquaria.

• only in interior spaces

• under compliance with the technical data

The following restrictions apply to the device:

• not to be used for commercial or industrial purposes

3. Safety instructions

There are risks for people and property associated with this device

if it is not used correctly and properly or in accordance with its in-

tended purpose or if the safety instructions are not observed.

For your safety

• Do not let the appliance packaging get into the hands of

children as hazards can arise (danger of suffocation!).

• This equipment can be used by children above the

age of 8 or by persons with reduced physical, mental

or sensory capacities or a lack of experience or

knowledge, provided they are supervised or have re-

ceived instruction in the safe use of the equipment

and therefore understand the risks involved. Do not

allow children to play with this equipment. Do not

allow children to clean or conduct user maintenance

without supervision.

• Before use, carry out a visual inspection to ensure

that the appliance, especially the mains cable and

plug, are undamaged.

• Never use the appliance with a damaged mains

cable.

• Repairs must only be carried out by an EHEIM service

centre.

• Do not carry the appliance by the mains cable, and

to disconnect from the mains, always pull on the plug

and not on the cable or appliance.

• Protect the mains cable against heat, oil and sharp

edges.

• Only carry out the work described in these instructi-

ons.

• Never make technical modifications to the appliance.

• Only use original spare parts and accessories for the

appliance.

• In the event of water leakage or when the residual

current protection device is triggered, immediately

disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the

power supply.

• If they are not being used, always disconnect all de-

vices in the aquarium from the power supply before

you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning

and maintenance work.

• Protect the mains socket and mains plug against

moisture. It is recommended to form a drip loop with

the mains cable to prevent any water running along

the cable to the mains socket.

• The electrical data of the device must correspond to

the data of the mains supply network. This data is

found on the type plate, the packaging and in these

instructions.

• The connecting line of this device can not be repla-

ced. When the line is damaged, the device must no

longer be used.

• Without fail, observe the operating instructions of the

other C02 components.

4. Operating Principle

The C02 supply for aquarium plants can be controlled automatically with the EHEIM

C02 solenoid valve:

A 6064 (230V AC):

The C02 supply is switched off overnight by a timer switch*.

Connect the solenoid valve that controls the aquarium lighting to the timer

switch*.

B 6064380 (24V DC):

With a timer switch* that controls an EHEIM powerLED+*.

C 6064380 (24V DC):

With an EHEIM LEDcontrol+* light controller that regulates the

EHEIM powerLED+* lamps.

*Not included in the scope of supply

5. Installation Example

A ! CO

) EHEIM power supply unit * EHEIM Y-distributor.

C ! CO2 storage cylinder " CO2 pressure reducer # Special hose CO2 -Safe

$ CO2 solenoid valve 6064380 (24V DC) % CO2 non-return valve & CO2

feed unit, for example, a diffusor ' EHEIM LEDcontrol+ ( EHEIM

powerLED+ ) EHEIM power supply unit * EHEIM Y-distributor.

6. Assembly

Before starting the installation work, without fail take note of the operating

instructions of the other C0

2 components.

• Fit the solenoid valve to the C02 hose of the C02 fertilizer system in accordance with

the installation example A, B or C. In doing so, pay attention to the direction of flow.

See the arrows on the housings.

• With the union nuts, secure the C02 hose to the hose connections of the solenoid valve.

Fit the C02 non-return valve in the hose installation between the solenoid

valve and the C02 feed unit (for example a C02 diffusor). Pay attention to

the direction of flow, see the arrow on the housing.

Use only original EHEIM C02 -Safe Ø 4/6 mm hoses for the complete hose

installation. Unsuitable hoses may burst.

Keep the C02 hose between the pressure reducer and the solenoid valve as

short as possible as overpressure builds up with a closed solenoid valve.

On opening the solenoid valve the briefly increased volume of C02 in the

aquarium is reduced.

A Connect the mains plug of the solenoid valve to the timer switch. The sole-

noid valve opens as soon as it is supplied with power and the addition of

C02 begins.

B Connect the mains plug of the EHEIM powerLED+ power supply unit to the

timer switch. Connect the plug connection of the EHEIM powerLED+ lamp

and the plug connection of the solenoid valve using a Y-distributor and plug

it into the power supply unit of the powerLED. The solenoid valve opens as

soon as it is supplied with power and the addition of C02 begins.

C Connect the EHEIM powerLED+ power supply unit to the EHEIM LEDcontrol+

light controller. Connect the plug connection of the EHEIM powerLED+ lamp

and the plug connection of the solenoid valve using a Y-distributor and plug

it into the EHEIM LEDcontrol+. As soon as the white LEDs of the EHEIM

powerLED+ lamps reach a light intensity of more than approximately 30%

the solenoid valve is supplied with power and the addition of C02 begins.

Only increase the C02 supply gradually and spread over several days.

Apply the EHEIM C02 long-term test for the determination of the correct

amount of C02.

7. Special Instructions

• In order to avoid noise through resonance transmission, do not install the C0

2 sole-

noid valve on thin underlays (for example, wood or plastic panels).

• Only operate the C02 solenoid valve together with a C02 pressure reducer which has

been designed especially for the supply of C02 to aquaria.

• In order to prevent corrosion, protect the C02 solenoid valve using a C02 non-return

valve. Non-return air valves for commercially available air diaphragm pumps are not

suitable as, due to the C02, they begin to leak after a short operating period.
