Set-top Box Motorola
VIP1500/VIP1700
1.1 Unwrap the Set-top Box
Set-top Box is delivered in the box with the accessories, which helps you to connect the
Set-top box with your Television and with the device provided by your Internet provider
(modem/switch).
Content of delivery:
Set-top Box
Remote control
Remote control batteries
Power supply
Power cord (220V).
Ethernet cable for connection with modem/switch provided by Internet provider.
SCART-SCART cable for connection with TV set.
1.2 Switch on the Set-top Box
As soon as you unwrapped your Set-top Box, connect this to your TV set by using enclosed
SCART-SCART cable. If your TV set has no free SCART connection, you can connect your
Set-top box through the COMPOSITE VIDEO, eventually through S-VIDEO output (note
that mentioned cables are not the part of delivery). In case the connection through VIDEO/S-
VIDEO is used, additionally audio outputs (left and right channel) from Set-top box to your TV
set must be connected. Subsequently connect Set-top Box by using Ethernet cable to port of
modem/switch of your Internet provider. At the end plug in the Set-top box by using enclosed
power supply.

IMPORTANT WARNING!!! Turn the Set-top Box on only when this is already connected
to TV set and modem/switch of your Internet provider!
1.3 Set Video output and Color System
When using different kind of video cables between the IP-STB and the TV set it’s necessary to
change the video output signal (i.e RGB, composite, S-Video, component). It is also necessary
to set correct color system (PAL and NTSC).
These steps provide you through the setting process:
1. During the first or second stage of the boot process press the MENU button on the remote
control or the keyboard.
2. When the IP-STB enters the configuration mode the LED on the front of the IP-STB will
start flashing slowly.
3. If the settings and connections are correct a configuration settings dialog similar to the
one presented below (depending on the configuration of your Kreatel IP-STB) will appear:
Figure 1.1: Kreatel STB – Setup
In case of incorrect original video output settings, it is still possible to control the Set-top
box and change the output to be compatible with your TV set. If the dialog is not present,
feedback that the remote commands are received will be indicated by the LED. The LED
will flicker quickly in red and green upon received commands.
4. Video output Use Up and Down main cursor buttons to activate or deactivate different
outputs. (Remote control is displayed in the picture 1.3.) The changes will take effect
immediately.

3
Note: The selection should match the type of cable you are using, i.e. if using a S-Video
cable the S-Video selection should be ON.
Note: In addition to RGB, it’s also possible to get S-Video or Composite video from
the SCART connector. In this case a special SCART to SVideo or SCART to composite
cable is required.
5. When the correct video signal is selected, the TV-image should be stable without flicker
or disturbances.
6. Color system Use the Left and Right main cursor buttons to toggle between PAL and
NTSC. (Remote control is displayed in the picture 1.3.)
7. When the Color system and Video output are set, it is possible to use:
OK button - to leave the dialog and save all changes made
STOP button - to leave the dialog without saving any changes
8. After saving the changes, the Kreatel IP-STB will be rebooted. The following dialog will
be shown for two seconds regardless if any changes have been made or not:
