Note:
Improper use or handling can result in
damage and/or injury. The scale may be
installed and operated by qualified per-
sonnel only. Make sure you observe the
warnings and safety precautions in their
entirety during installation and operation,
as well as while performing maintenance
and repair work on the equipment. All
laws, regulations, standards, accident
prevention rules and environmental pro-
tection requirements applicable in your
country must be followed. It is important
that all personnel using the equipment
understand these warnings and safety pre-
cautions, and have access to the relevant
documents at all times. Furthermore, the
warnings and safety precautions sup-
plied with any electrical equipment con-
nected, such as peripheral devices, must
be observed as well. These warnings and
safety precautions may have to be sup-
plemented by the equipment operator. All
operating personnel must be informed of
any additions to these instructions. Make
sure the equipment is accessible at all
times.
– Make absolutely sure to disconnect the
scale from power (unplug the power
cord) before you connect or disconnect a
peripheral device (printer or PC) to or from
the interface port).
– If you use cables purchased from another
manufacturer, check the pin assignments
in the cable against those specified by
Minebea Intec before connecting the
cable to Minebea Intec equipment, and
disconnect any wires that are assigned
differently. The operator shall be solely
responsible for any damage or injuries that
occur when using cables not supplied by
Minebea Intec.
General Provisions for Installing Signum
Models Equipped with Option Y2
Signum models equipped with Option Y2
meet the requirements of EC Directive
2014/34/EU for group II devices and are
suitable for use in zone 2 and 22 hazard-
ous areas in accordance with the declara-
tion of conformity. Furthermore, Signum
models meet the EC Directives for electro-
magnetic compatibility (see “Documents”).
– The area of use for which Signum models
are intended is defined in the documents
supplied. Make sure the restrictions defined
in those documents are observed.
Operation outside of these restrictions is
not permitted, and is considered use of
the equipment for other than its intended
purpose.
Note:
Make sure the safety instructions described
in the drawing (for details, see “Docu-
ments:” Drawing no. 36287-740-16) are
followed.
– The device is protected against penetra-
tion by solid objects (IP65 protection on
all models that have Option Y2).
– The protection rating for the display and
control unit is ensured only if the rubber
gasket is installed and all connections are
fastened securely (including the caps on
unused sockets).
Weighing platforms must be installed, and
the weighing system inspected, by
a certified electrical technician.
– If you install an interface port or battery
connector after setting up your Signum,
keep the protective cap(s) in a safe place
to be used for protecting the interface
port when not in use, or prior to shipment.
This will protect the data interface or from
vapors, moisture and dust or dirt. Do not
leave interface ports uncovered.
