System requirements S7-Xplorer ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer
2 System requirements S7-Xplorer
The following system requirements are necessary for the use of the S7-Xplorer data interface:
■ ibaPDA v8.2.0 or higher
■ Base license for ibaPDA + license for ibaPDA-Interface-PLC-Xplorer or
ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer
■ For more than 16 connecons, you need addional one-step-up-Interface-S7-Xplorer licenses
for each addional 16 connecons.
Note
The ibaPDA-Interface-PLC-Xplorer license contains, among others, the license for
this interface.
■ SIMATIC STEP 7 or SIMATIC NET, in case PC/CP connecons are used
■ SIMATIC STEP 7 and S7-CFC, in case signals are to be selected using Drag & Drop
For further requirements for the used computer hardware and the supported operang sys-
tems, refer to the ibaPDA documentaon.
Supported controllers:
SIMATIC S7 controller LOGO!, S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-400H, S7-1200, S7-1500 or WinAC RTX
or S5
Systemrestricons
■ Restricons SIMATIC TIA-Portal:
SIMATIC TIA-Portal STEP 7 V14 SP1 or higher is a prerequisite for generang address books
from TIA Portal projects.
■ Restricons S7-1200 CPU:
For the TIA connecon mode with S7-1200 CPUs, only rmware versions ≥ V4 are support-
ed by the S7-Xplorer module.
■ Restricons LOGO! and S7-200:
Only LOGO!-controllers of the 0BA7 and 0BA8 families are supported.
Access to absolute operands only
The controllers SIMATIC LOGO! and SIMATIC S7-200 are to be congured via special so-
ware tools. Both project types cannot be read by ibaPDA. Hence, address books cannot be
generated for a signal selecon by means of the symbolic names or CFC connectors.
■ Restricons for S5:
Since ibaPDA cannot read SIMATIC STEP 5 projects, yet, address books for the signal selec-
on cannot be created with the symbolic names.

ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer System requirements S7-Xplorer
Regarding the number of connecons, the following technical constraints apply:
The number of S7-, SINAMICS- and SIMOTION-Xplorer connecons is limited to 240. TCP and
PC/CP connecons of the SINAMICS-, SIMOTION- and SINUMERIK-Xplorer are evaluated dier-
ently. A SINAMICS-, SIMOTION- or SINUMERIK-Xplorer connecon over TCP only counts 1/16. A
PC/CP connecon is calculated in full.
This means:
Number of S7-Xplorer connecons
+ number of SINAMICS-Xplorer-TCP connecons not routed / 16 1)
+ number of SIMOTION-Xplorer-TCP connecons not routed / 16 1)
+ number of SINUMERIK-Xplorer-TCP connecons not routed / 16 1)
+ number of SINAMICS-Xplorer-TCP connecons routed
+ number of SIMOTION-Xplorer-TCP connecons routed
+ number of SINAMICS-Xplorer-PC/CP connecons
+ number of SIMOTION-Xplorer-PC/CP connecons
+ number of SINUMERIK-Xplorer-PC/CP connecons
≤ 240!
1) Only acve connecons are taken into account. The division must always be rounded to the
next larger number. (One connecon resource per started 16 connecons.)
Access to the SINAMICS Control Units which are integrated in the SIMOTION controls is not sup-
ported.

3 PLC-Xplorer data interface to SIMATIC S7 systems
3.1 Generalinformaon
The S7-Xplorer interface is suitable for acquiring measured data via TCP/IP using the standard
network interface cards as well as using the PPI, MPI, PROFIBUS, TCP/IP and ISO transport logs
via SIMATIC NET interface cards. Access is transparent for the controller. Separate engineering
and programming of the control is not necessary.
You can select the signals to be measured either with the absolute operand address or with the
symbolic name with support of the ibaPDA address book browser. This browser allows to access
to all dened symbols of the aached STEP 7 project.
When using the SIMATIC CFC editor (version V 6.0 or higher) on the same computer, you can
conî„®gure the signals that are to be measured and the connectors from the control program via
drag & drop.
Using an addional interface converter, you can also acquire measured data from a SIMATIC S5
controller via its AS511 interface (see ì Module S5 (LAN adapter), page 47).

2 Only modules with Ethernet interface TCP/IP are supported (starng from …-0BA7)
3 Only with CP243-1
4 Only CPU/CP, whose Ethernet interface supports TCP/IP or ISO respecvely
5 Only with CP55xx (MPI), CP56xx (PPI/MPI/PROFIBUS) or CP57xx (PPI/MPI/PROFIBUS)
6 PPI Mulmaster cable is NOT supported.
7 MPI/DP adapter serial, USB, TCP/IP
Addional Siemens soware (e.g. SIMATIC NET or SIMATIC STEP 7) is needed for operaon, in
case the connecon to the control system is established via a SIMATIC NET card in the computer
to an integrated Ethernet interface of the CPU (if available) or to a CP module in the PLC. Please
take into account that further licenses are required which are not part of
ibaPDA-Interface-PLC-Xplorer.
Note
It is recommended carrying out the TCP/IP communicaon on a separate net-
work segment to exclude a mutual inî…‡uence by other network components.
2.4 13
ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer PLC-Xplorer data interface to SIMATIC S7 systems
3.3 ConguraonandengineeringSIMATICS7
Generally, no parcular engineering and programming is required on the controller side. In par-
cular, it is not necessary to call up any program modules.
When using the PC/CP connecon mode, you have to congure a suitable access point in the
SIMATIC PG/PC interface on the ibaPDA computer, see ì Seng PG/PC interface/dening new
access point, page 86.
Only for the LOGO! and S7-200 controller types, you have to congure an Ethernet connecon
in the control system, see ì Conguraon of LOGO!, page 13 and ì Conguraon of S7-200,
page 15.
3.3.1 ConguraonofLOGO!
Access to LOGO! CPU is carried out via Ethernet only.
The following LOGO! types are supported:
■ SIMATIC LOGO! 0BA7
■ SIMATIC LOGO! 0BA8
When using LOGO! 0BA7, you rst have to establish an Ethernet connecon with your LOGO!
soware or congure an exisng connecon respecvely.
CreanganEthernetconnecon
1. Select the menu Tools – Ethernet connecons… in the LOGO! programming soware.
14 2.4
PLC-Xplorer data interface to SIMATIC S7 systems ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer
2. Select Add connecon.
3. Select Server connecon, enter a TSAP (e.g. "20.00") and acvate Accept all connecon
requests. The used TSAP has to be the same TSAP as in ibaPDA, see ì Module LOGO!,
page 52.
When using a LOGO! 0BA8, this is not required. However, the user has to consider here that ev-
ery connecon to the PLC has a 10 seconds meout. Hence, an open connecon is closed auto-
macally if for a period of 10 seconds no user data are being exchanged.
2.4 15
ibaPDA-Interface-S7-Xplorer PLC-Xplorer data interface to SIMATIC S7 systems
3.3.2 ConguraonofS7-200
Access to the S7-200 is carried out via Ethernet. Therefore, you î„®rst have to establish a connec-
on using the STEP 7-Micro/WIN soware or parameterize an exisng connecon accordingly.
The following î„®gures provide more details on this.
1. Select the menu Tools – Ethernet Wizard… in the STEP 7-Micro/WIN soware.
2. Create an Ethernet connecon.

3.4 Conguraon&engineeringibaPDA
The engineering for ibaPDA is described in the following. If all system requirements are fulî„®lled,
ibaPDA displays the S7-Xplorer interface in the interface tree of the I/O Manager.
3.4.1 Generalinterfacesengs
If the Xplorer interface is selected in the tree, you can see an overview of diagnoscs informa-
on on the congured connecons between ibaPDA and the controllers.
The interface has the following features and conguraon opons.
SetallvaluestozerowhentheconnecontoaPLCislost
If this opon is enabled, all measured values of the PLC are set to zero as soon as the connec-
on is lost. If this opon is disabled, ibaPDA keeps the last valid measured value in memory
when the connecon is lost.
StartacquisionevenifaPLCisnotaccessible
If this opon is enabled, the acquision starts even if the controller is not accessible. A warning
is prompted in the validaon dialog, not an error. If the system was started without a connec-
on to the controller, ibaPDA periodically tries to connect to the PLC.
Allow inaccessible symbols
If this opon is enabled, the acquision starts even if symbols are not accessible. These inacces-
sible symbols are prompted as warnings in the validaon dialog box, not as errors. This can only
occur if the address book is not up-to-date.
If this opon is disabled, measurement does not start when inaccessible symbols are present.
EnableS7-Xploreroutputs
Enable this opon to acvate output modules. With the S7-Xplorer outputs you can write di-
rectly on S7 operands and S7 symbols.
Cauon
Consider that wring data to the PLC might inuence programs running on the
PLC and can result in unwanted reacons and processes. Therefore ensure that
acvang the S7-Xplorer outputs does not involve any risks.
