I. Foreword
Dear customer,
We thank you for the trust you have placed in us by
purchasing this machine.
When you received the machine, the dealer should
have given you instructions for the operation, mainte-
nance and adjustment of the machine.
However, this brief introduction to the machine can
not replace a detailed acquaintance with the different
tasks and functions of the machine and the proper way
to treat it.
The operating instructions are designed so that you
are extensively informed of the activities required in
each area, from commissioning and operation to the
maintenance and care of the machine. The structure
of the individual chapters in the text and illustrations
corresponds to the sequence of work procedures when
you use the machine.
Read these operating instructions carefully before you
use the machine, and pay special attention to the
safety instructions.
Important: To avoid accidents and to ensure
maximum results, no alterations may
be made to the machine without the
manufacturer’s permission. Similarly,
the machine must only be used under
the conditions prescribed by Krone.
All information, illustrations and technical information in
these operating instructions represent the latest status
at the date of publication. The company reserves the
right to make constructional alterations at any time and
without prior notice or obligation.

5.The operator’s clothing should be tight fitting. Avoid
wearing loose fitting clothes.
6.Keep the machine clean to prevent the danger of fire!
7.Before starting the machine and moving off, check the
danger area around the machine (children)! Good all-
round visibility is essential!
8.Carrying passengers on the implement during work or
transport is not permitted.
9.Make sure that the implement is correctly coupled, and
that it is only fixed and secured with the prescribed
fittings!
10.Make sure that supports, jacks etc. are in the correct
position during assembly and disassembly!
11.Special care is required when implements are being
coupled to the tractor or uncoupled from the tractor!
12.Ballast weights must always be attached as prescribed
and at the designed attachment points!
13.Adhere to the permitted axle loads, total weights and
transport dimensions!
14.Check and fit transport equipment, e.g. lighting, warning
signs and, if appropriate, protective equipment!
15.Operating equipment for remote controls (ropes, chains,
rods etc.) must be laid out in such a way that it can not
cause inadvertent movements in any transport or
operating position.
16.Before any road transport, move the equipment into
the prescribed position and secure it in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions!
17.Never leave the driver’s position when the tractor is in
motion!
18.The speed of travel must always be suited to the
environmental conditions! Avoid any sudden turns
when travelling uphill, downhill or across a slope!
19.The handling, steering and braking of the tractor is
affected by integrated or attached equipment and
ballast weights. Make sure that you allow sufficient
flexibility for steering and braking!
20.When turning, remember to take account of the wide
load and/or the greater weight of the equipment!
21.Only switch on equipment when all protective devices
are fitted and in protection position!
2. Safety and accident prevention
regulations
1. Take note of both the regulations in these operating
instructions and also the generally applicable safety
and accident prevention regulations!
2. The attached warning and information signs give
important advice for safe operation. Observing them
will enhance your safety.
3. When you use public roads, make sure you observe
the relevant traffic regulations!
4. Make sure you know all equipment and controls and
their functions before you begin working with the
machine When you are operating the machine, it’s too
late!
Before any public roads are used and
before the machine is started, the disc
mower and the tractor must be checked
for roadworthiness and operational
safety.
1. Operation in accordance with
specifications
The disc mower is designed exclusively for normal agri-
cultural use (operation in accordance with specifica-
tions).
Any use of the machine for other purposes is deemed to
be not in accordance with specifications. The manufacturer
bears no responsibility for any resulting damage; such
use is entirely at the operator’s risk.
Use in accordance with specifications also includes
adherence to the operating, maintenance and service
instructions prescribed by the manufacturer.
The disc mower must only be used, maintained and
repaired by personnel who are acquainted with the machine
and have been informed of the danger involved.
The applicable accident prevention regulations and all
other generally recognized safety, health and road traffic
regulations must be adhered to.
Any unauthorized alterations to the machine render any
liability for damage undertaken by the manufacturer null
and void.
III. General
Basic rule:

22.Persons are not allowed to enter the working area!
23.Keep clear of the area of rotation and tilt of the
attachment!
24.Hydraulic joint controls must only be operated if no
persons are in the danger area!
25.Power operated elements (e.g. with hydraulic control)
contain danger points which can cause injury by
crushing and shearing!
26.Before leaving the tractor, rest the mowing attachment
on the ground, switch off the engine and remove the
ignition key!
27.Make sure that nobody enters the area between the
tractor and the implement unless the tractor is protected
from rolling by the parking brake and/or wheel blocks!
3. Attached equipment
1. Take steps to prevent implements from rolling!
2. Take care not to exceed the maximum permitted load
of the trailer coupling, adjustable drawbar or hitch
coupling!
3. When using a drawbar, make sure that the coupling
point has sufficient freedom of movement!
4. Power take-off shaft operation
1. Only the PTO shafts prescribed by the manufacturer
may be used!
2. The protective tube and funnel of the PTO shaft and the
power take-off shaft protector (including the mower
side) must be fitted and in good condition!
3. Observe the tube overlap prescribed for PTO shafts in
transport and operating position!
4. Before installing and removing the PTO shafts, make
sure that the power take-off shaft and the engine are
turned off and the ignition key is removed!
5. When using PTO shafts with an overload or free-
running coupling that is not covered by the guards on
the tractor, the overload or free-running couplings must
be attached to the implement side!
6. Always ensure correct assembly and securing of the
PTO shaft!
7.Protect the PTO shaft guard from rotating with the shaft
by fitting the chains.
8.Before switching on the power take-off shaft, make
sure that the tractor’s selected p.t.o. speed matches
the permitted speed of the machine!
9.Before switching on the power take-off shaft, make
sure that nobody is in the danger area of the mowing
machine!
10.Never switch on the power take-off shaft when the
tractor engine is turned off!
11.Any work with the power take-off shaft must only be
carried out when nobody is in the area of the rotating
power take-off shaft.
12.The power take-off shaft should always be turned off
when the angle is too great and it is not required.
13.Danger! Working elements continue to rotate after the
power take-off shaft is turned off. Do not approach the
machine during this time! Work on the machine must
only be carried out when the machine is fully stationary
and the rotating parts have been secured with the
parking brake.
14.Cleaning, lubrication or adjustment of the PTO shaft or
of equipment driven by the power take-off shaft may
only be carried out when the power take-off shaft and
the engine are turned off and the ignition key has been
removed. Rotating parts must be secured with the
parking brake.
15.Rest the detached PTO shaft on the support bracket
provided.
16.After disassembling the PTO shaft, place the protective
cover on the stub of the power take-off shaft.
17.Any damage must be repaired immediately before any
work is carried out with the attachment!
5. Hydraulic system
1.The hydraulic system is pressurized!
2.When connecting hydraulic cylinders and motors, make
sure that the hydraulic hoses are correctly connected.
3.When connecting hydraulic hoses to the tractor’s
hydraulic system, make sure that all pressure has first
been released from the hydraulics of both the tractor
and the implement.

4. When there are functional hydraulic connections
between the tractor and the machine, all coupling
sleeves and plugs must be marked to prevent
operating errors. If connections are switched, the
functions are reversed (e.g. lifting and lowering).
This can cause accidents!
5. Hydraulic hoses must be checked regularly, and if
they are damaged or worn, they must be replaced.
Replacement hoses must conform to the technical
requirements of the attachment manufacturer.
6. When tracing leakages, suitable aids should be used
to prevent injury.
7. Fluid leaking under high pressure (hydraulic oil) can
penetrate the skin and cause serious injury. If such
injury occurs, consult a doctor immediately! Danger
of infection!
8. Before carrying out any work on the hydraulic system,
rest the machine on the ground, depressurize the
system and switch off the engine!
6. Tyres
1. When working on the tyres, make sure that the
machine is safely supported and can not roll (wheel
blocks).
2. Fitting of wheels and tyres requires sufficient
knowledge and correct equipment!
3. Repair work on tyres and wheels must only be
carried out by specialist personnel, and only with the
correct equipment.
4. The tyre pressure must be checked regularly. The
recommended pressure must be adhered to.
7. Maintenance
1. Repair, maintenance and cleaning work and the
correction of malfunctions must only be carried out
when the drive is turned off and the engine is at a
standstill. Remove the ignition key. Apply the parking
brake to all rotating parts.
2. Nuts and bolts must be checked regularly for tightness
and tightened if necessary.
3. When carrying out maintenance work on the machine
in a lifted position, it must always be supported by
suitable support jacks.
4. When replacing working tools with cutting edges,
use suitable tools and gloves!
5.Oil, grease and filters must be correctly disposed
of!
6.Always disconnect the power supply before working
on the electrical system!
7.Any protective devices that are subject to wear must
be checked regularly and replaced in good time.
8.When electric welding is carried out on the tractor and
any fitted attachments, the cables must be dis-
connected from the alternator and battery!
9.Replacement parts must conform at least to the
technical requirements specified by the manufacturer
of the attachment.
The best guarantee is to use only original KRONE
parts!
10.Where gases are stored, only fill with nitrogen.

1. Introduction
The KRONE Disc Mower is equipped with all necessary safety devices (protective devices). Not all dangerous
areas on this machine can be made completely safe considering that it is also necessary to keep the machine
functional. There are corresponding danger notices on the machine indicating these remaining dangers. We have
given these danger notices in the form of warning signs. You will find important notices on the positioning of these
danger signs and their meaning/denotation below!
Familiarise yourself with the meaning of the warning signs. The text beside them and their
location on the machine indicates the machine's particularly dangerous areas.

Special safety notes
• Keep a sufficiently safe distance from the cutting tools during operation.
• Even when the mower is used in accordance with specifications, stones etc. may be
thrown out. Therefore, no-one shoud be standing in the danger area. Particular care
should be taken when working near roads or buildings.
• Check the protective cloth covers regularly. Replace worn or damaged protective
cloth covers.
• The protective devices on the mower unit, e.g. cloths and guard plates, should be
engaged before starting work.
• No-one must be allowed to walk between the tractor and the mower, when the mower
is being moved from transport postion to mowing position or back to transport
position.
• Particular care is required when fitting attachments to the tractor or removing them!
It is essential that the accident prevention regulations are observed.
• The mower unit is hitched off centre. When braking in dangerous situations
(cornering on slippery ground) the tractor can jack-knife. The minimum unladen
weight of tractor of 4000 kg should therefore be fulfilled.
2.1 Preparing the disc mower
Assemble the PTO shaft (1) with extended guard (2) on
to the machine. Hang the retaining chain (4) in the hole
(3) to prevent the protective tube (5) from turning with
the shaft.

2.2 Attaching the disc mower
Connect the lower link arms (2) to the mounting frame
of the mower (1), secure and raise slightly.

CAUTION: Stablilise the lower link arms on the
tractor using limiting chains or rods to prevent the
machine shifting sideways.
Danger of crushing hands and feet when
operating the jack stand.
Raise the jack stands (1) and (2) upwards.
Secure the jack stands (3) and (4) using bolts (1) and
spring pins (2).

• Attach the PTO shaft (2).
• Secure the protective tube from turning with the
shaft using the chain (1).
PTO shaft length adjustment
• Hold the PTO shaft halves (1) and (2) in horizontal
position up against one another
• Check the top cover of the attachment tubes
• Shorten the attachment tubes and protective tubes
so that they move easily in any operating position
• Further details are given in the operating
instructions from the PTO shaft manufacturer.
• Switch off the engine. Remove the
ignition key. Secure the tractor and
machine from rolling away. Danger of
injury.
• Make sure that the PTO shaft protection
engages. Secure the protective tube
from turning with the shaft using a
retaining chain.
• Max. PTO shaft speed 1000 rpm.

Set the mower unit mounting frame (1) with spirit level
parallel to the ground.
When the levers (1) on the shut-off taps (2) are in the
position, the taps are open.
• Connect the hydraulic hoses (3)
• The shut-off taps (1) and (2) should be closed.

Transport and working position of the tractor lower link
arms (1) approx. a = 730 mm. Set the lower link arm
height so that the machine frames are parallel to the
ground.

Move the additional stop (1) on the swivel cylinder
(2) in the direction of the arrow. It should be in the
folded (lower) position.
2.3 Working position
Open the shut-off taps (1) and (2) on the hydraulic
hoses (see direction of the arrow).
• Open the shut-off tap (2) (blue 2)
• Shut-off tap (1) (red 1) is open
• Switch off the PTO shaft drive
• Switch off the PTO shaft before
transport on public roads.
• Raise the mower unit, move the
machine into transport position.
• Permissible top speed 25 km/h.
2.4 Transport position
NOTE
• Activate the single-action control device
• The working wheels (1) and (3) are lowered
• The left-hand transport wheel (2) loses contact with
the ground (a = approx. 50 mm)
• Activate the double-action control device
• The swinging drawbar turns, the transport wheels
travel at the same height
• If the swivel cylinder has reached the additional stop
(transport wheels up) the swivel operation is
completed.
CAUTION: Close the shut-off tap on the hydraulic
hose (blue 2). Swivelling back to transport position
when the PTO shaft is running can cause damage.

• Activate the single-action control unit
• The working wheels (3) and (4) are lowered
completely
• Bring the machine into the transport position using
the double-action control unit
• The transport wheels (1) and (2) lower
• The swinging drawbar also swivels round
• Then run the working wheels (3) and (4) with the
single-action control unit
CAUTION: The diagram opposite shows the
machine when unhitched. The machine must
always be hitched when carrying out a swivel
operation
2.5 Disassembling the disc mower
Before disassembling, switch off the
engine, remove the ignition key and
secure the tractor from rolling away.
• Undo the retaining chain (1)
• Pull out the PTO shaft (2) and rest on the support
• Raise the rear hydraulics slightly.
There is a danger of crushing hands and
feet when activating the jack stand.
• Pull out the spring pin (2) and bolt (1)
• Lower the jack stands (3) and (4)
• Secure using bolts and spring pins
• If the swivel cylinder (1) is fully exten-
ded (transport wheels down, working
wheels up), close the shut-off taps (red
and blue).
• Connect the lights and check that they
are functioning correctly before
travelling on public roads.

Preparing for operation
Depressurise the hydraulic system on the tractor
and on the machine when uncoupling the hydraulic
hoses.
• Close the shut-off taps (1) and (2) (see arrow
direction)
• Pull off the hydraulic hoses (3)
Rest the lighting cable (2) and hydraulic hoses (3) in
the mounting (1) on the machine.
Open the lower link arm protection. Lower the lower
link arm until the mower unit mountings (1) are free.
The PTO shaft (3) is resting on the PTO shaft support
(2).
