Setting the Shredder up:
Remove the shredder from the Gift Box.
Place the shredder head onto the waste bin. The shredder head is fitted with a safety
switch, (located underneath the shredder head), which needs to sit on top of the
plastic rib that is located on the inside of the Waste Bin, (right hand side).
The shredder needs to be placed on a flat stable surface.
Shredder Capacity:
The CC3L-DT will shred 2 vertically folded A4 sheets of 70gsm paper at once and will accept
paper width up to 110mm. When shredding smaller items like envelopes or credit card
receipts, it’s best to insert them through the middle of the feed slot. The Shredder will shred
Credit Cards, one at a time. Always shred credit cards at the start of the duty cycle and not at
the end, as the motor may overheat and stop.
Operating the Shredder:
Prepare the paper to be shredded by removing paper clips, and any other objects or
fasteners that may jam in the feed slot or damage the blades.
Only feed 2 vertically folded sheets of 70gsm A4 paper into the paper entry slot, at
any one time, otherwise it may overload the shredder.
Move the control switch to the FWD position and feed the folded paper into the
paper entry slot. When you have finished shredding the paper, move the switch to
the OFF position, (shredder does not have an automatic stop and start).
FWD: When you want to start shredding move the control switch to the FWD position, the
blades will now starting turning and paper can be shredded. Once you have finish shredding
move the switch to the OFF position.
OFF: This position is recommended when emptying the shredder bin or when the shredder is
not in use for a prolonged period of time.
REV: Reverses the shredding direction and backs items out of the shredder in the event of a
paper jam. Can also be used in conjunction with the FWD function to remove any paper
jammed in the blades.
Overheating.
The CC3L-DT is equipped with a motor overload protection device if the shredder overheats.
This means if the shredder is used for longer than the normal duty cycle, which is 2 minutes
on & 60 minutes off, the power will automatically switch off as the motor will need to cool
down.
In the event that this happens you need to unplug the power cord from the mains socket and
wait at least 60 minutes for the overload protection to reset.
After 60 minutes of cooling down, plug the Shredder back into the mains socket. If any paper
is still stuck in paper entry slot, move the control switch to the REV position and remove the
excess paper, then move the switch to FWD, this will clear any paper still left in the blades.
The shredder is now ready for use.
Clearing the Blades of Paper Jams
If paper becomes jammed during shredding, move the control switch to REV and remove any
excess paper from the feed slot. Move the switch back to OFF and see if this has cleared the
jam. If not move the switch between the FWD and REV 2-3 times and this should clear the
paper jam, (you may need to remove jammed paper from the blades and don’t forget to
unplug the shredder from the mains socket first).
ALWAYS UNPLUG THE SHREDDER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO MANUALLY REMOVE AN ITEM
FROM THE PAPER ENTRY SLOT OR THE BLADES.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, INSERT METAL OBJECTS INTO THE PAPER ENTRY
SLOT OR THE BLADES, TO REMOVE THE JAMMED PAPER.
Maintenance.
When you want to maintain the shredder, please make sure you have switched off the
shredder and removed the plug from the mains socket.
Use a dry soft cloth to clean the shredder.
The shredder and waste bin are made of plastic; therefore please do not use solvents,
thinners or any abrasive pads/cloths, to avoid fading or scratches.
Do not allow water to enter the shredder head when cleaning.
To maintain the quality of your shredder blades, please use lubricating sheets/oil once a
month.
Waste Bin:
When you empty the waste bin, please make sure the shredder is switched off and
unplugged.
Place the shredder head back onto the bin correctly.
Tips: (To prevent paper jams).
Never shred more than 2 folded sheets at once.
Although the Waste Bin holds 20 A4 Sheets of shredded paper, the shredded paper can
become jammed in the blades, if you exceed this amount. To prevent this from
happening, we suggest you empty the bin every 10-12 sheets.
When shredding paper, always leave a few seconds gap between the shredding of the
last sheet/s and the shredding of the next sheet/s. This is to ensure that the previous
sheet has been fully shredded and the blades are completely paper free.
Once you have finished shredding paper, move the switch between REV and FWD
several times. This will clear any shredded paper still remaining in the blades, ensuring
the shredder blades will be clear and paper free, ready for the next time you use it.
