Right and left dump stop linkage assemblies
are
deter·
mined by the return
rod
locations. The dump return
rod
is always to the outside. Slide the dump stop assem-
blies over the top of the outer cylinder frames,
as
shown. Install a
1/2
inch flat washer between the arms
and container support frame and fasten with
1/2-13
x 5
bolts and locknuts. Tighten the locknuts so they
are
snug, allowing the dump stop assemblies to pivot
freely.
Push
the height changer slides
IN
(for the
73
inch
dump position), and retain in
place with the cotterless
pin. Start the tractor engine and slowly extend the
dump
cylinders, raising the support frame to its
full up and dumped position. The dump stops should
be
engaged
rn
the uppermost latch on the outer cylin-
der frames. Shut
off
the engine.
IMPORTANT: No attempt should be made to adjust
the retum rods, until the support frame is raised
and
fully
dumped_
Adjusting procedures MUST be
closely followed,
as
the retum rods
are
factory
adjusted to their shortest position. This is done to
avoid
possible dump stop linkage damage follow-
ing initial assembly.
Make sure the
rod
guides
are
locked to the dump
return rods, 3 inches from the
lowest
rod
bushing, with
the
welded rear tabs on the rods turned downward and
perpendicular to the tabs on the container support
frame.
Using a
feeler gauge, adjust the
rod
until there is a
.040
to
.050
gap between the dump stop hook and the top
of the outer
cylinder frame. Tighten the nuts on the
rod
to hold this dimension, and to hold the adjustable tab
parallel with the dump stop hook. Repeat this proce-
dure on the other dump stop
linkage.
Start the engine and very slowly hydraulically lower
the support frame. Observe the dump stop hooks.
They must engage both hook
plates. If they do not,
return to the
full up and dumped position and recheck
the adjustments.
DUMP STOP INFORMATION - Continued
IMPORTANT: If the dump stop hooks ride over the hook plates when lowering, the cylinders will retract before the
container
closes, and the container can "FREE FALL" to the side frames, causing damage
to
the grass
catcher components.
If one dump stop hook rides over its hook plate when lowering, the opposite linkage
may bind, damaging its parts sufficiently to require their replacement.
CONTAINER & CHUTE INSTALLATION:
Two people
are
required to lift the container (without
its
lid) onto the tractor and into its supports on the side
frames.
Loosely install all eight
1/2-13
x
1-1/4
bolts
and
lockwashers thru the support frame into the container.
After
all
are
installed they should
be
torqued in place.
Do
not instaH the lid.
Install
the container inlet duct to the side
of
the con-
tainer with
1/4-20
x
3/4
bolts, flat washers, lockwashers
and nuts and torque in place.
If
the container is not in its full down position, start the
tractor engine and retract the
cylinders until it is fully
seated. Adjust each roller, so they just make contact
with the surface of the outer
cylinder frame. Tighten
in
place.
Losely install
the chute support to the right side frame
with
5/16-18
x 1 bolts, flat washers, lockwashers and
nuts.
Install the seal to the upper hose duct, with the
bead
toward the container inlet duct. Install the upper
hose duct to the chute support with a
1/2-13
x
1-3/4
bolt, lockwasher and nut.
Vertically adjust and tighten the
5/16
inch fasteners so
the upper hose duct is centered with, and the
1/2
fastener, so the seal bead is evenly collapsed against,
the container
inlet duct.
Using a
liberal coat of liquid soap inside the large
chute hose opening, install the open hose end as far
as
possible onto the upper hose duct. Retain
in
place
with the large hose clamp. Check the lower sliding
hose duct. There should
be
4 inches
of
duct protrud-
ing from the lower end
of
the hose. Readjust to this
dimension if necessary.
After
all chute parts
have
been installed
and
adjusted,
the container
lid can
be
put on and retained with its
1/2
x 2 inch clevis pins, flat washers, and
1/8
x
1-1/4
cotter
pins. Again, two
people should raise the lid into place.

Prior to blower installation, the mower deck must
be
put back
on
the tractor. Follow instructions
in
the
Mower Operator's
Manual for reinstallation
and
height
of cut adjustments.
The
blower
has
been
completely sub-assembled
and
only needs to
be
mounted to the mower deck. Using
the
front grab handle,
and
the "J" pin handle, install
the blower hinge pin into the blower case stay
on
the
front
of
the deck. Swing the blower inward
and
install
the
PTO
shaft to the gearbox on the right mower
spindle, before fully mounting
and
latching the blower
in
place with the
"J"
pin. The
"J"
Pin
Support
and
Blower
Case
Stay fasteners should now
be
torqued.
Slip the lower sliding hose duct
end
of the chute hose
over the
blower outlet duct.
Install the protection screen to the vertical front edges
of the grass catcher side frames with
3/8-16
x
1-1/4
bolts, washers
and
nuts. The screen frame offset must
be
toward the front. Torque the fasteners.
Double check
and
make sure all fasteners for the
grass catcher
and
mower components
are
corrected
torqued.
Service the grass catcher according to instructions
found
in
the Lubrication & Maintenance section of this
manual, before operation. Also check the tractor
hydraulic oil level per instructions
in
the Tractor
Operator's
Manual.
