2. Connecting ‘T’ and ‘TW’ speaker cabinets
The ‘T’ and ‘TW’ version cabinets have a built-in transformer that allows these
models to be used with a 100V-line (constant voltage) sound system.
Constant voltage sound systems have the advantage of very little cable loss
and should be used wherever long cable lengths have to be installed. Another
great advantage of 100V-line systems is their simple wiring: all speakers are
just connected in parallel and the power of every single speaker cabinet can
be individually adjusted. Series wiring of speaker cabinets within 100V-line
systems is not necessary and should not be performed.
For correct matching of impedances within a 100V-line sound system, a speci-
al power amplifier with a 100V-line output or a standard amplifier with an exter-
nal 100V-line output transformer should be used.
Two switches on the rear panel of the ‘T’ and ‘TW’ models allow to match the
cabinets to different constant voltage systems and to adjust the output power
each individual speaker cabinet :
The right-hand 5-position rotary switch on the back panel allows to select bet-
ween four constant voltage systems, 25 V, 50V, 70V and 100V, depending on
the nominal output voltage of the power amplifier or the output transformer.
The output power of each speaker cabinet is selected via the left 6-position
rotary switch. Changes of the settings should only be done with no sound or at
very low volume settings.
Setting both switches to their ‘0’ position bypasses the built-in line transformer
and automatically re-configures the speakers for standard 4 ohms wiring.
Attention: If ‘T’ version cabinets are used within a constant voltage sound
system, never set the switches to ‘0’, as this might damage the speakers.
