SAFETY WARNINGS

• To prevent short circuits, this product should only be used inside and only in dry spaces.

Do not expose the components to rain or moisture. Do not use the product close to a

bath, swimming pool etc.

• Do not expose the components of your systems to extremely high temperatures or bright

light sources.

• Do not open the product: the device contains live parts. The product should only be

repaired or serviced by a qualified repairman.

• In case of improper usage or if you have opened, altered and repaired the product yourself,

all guarantees expire. Marmitek does not accept responsibility in the case of improper

usage of the product or when the product is used for purposes other than specified.

Marmitek does not accept responsibility for additional damage other than covered by the

legal product responsibility.

• Only connect the adapter to the mains after checking whether the mains voltage is the

same as the values on the identification tags. Never connect an adapter or power cord

when it is damaged. In that case, contact your supplier.

1. INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on purchasing a GigaControl450™. This can be used to operate your A/V

equipment with your own remote control, even the equipment is stored in a closed cabinet,

located on the other side of the room or even in another room entirely! The compact design

means that the GigaControl450™ is suitable for use in every interior.

Marmitek products are manufactured with the utmost care and are exceptionally high

quality. Please read this manual carefully and follow the instructions in order to get the best

from this product.

3. HOW DOES IT WORK?

Point your remote control at the GigaControl450™ IR Receiver. The IR Receiver receives these

infrared signals, converts them into RF signals and sends them onto the GigaControl450™ IR

Transmitter. The IR Transmitter then converts these back into infrared signals and sends them

to your HDD-recorder, set-top box, satellite decoder, audio set, etc.

4. INSTALLATION

4.1 IR Receiver

1. Place the IR Receiver in the room/area from which you wish to operate your equipment.

2. Point the front of the IR Receiver (with Marmitek logo) towards the point at which you want

to use the remote control (maximum 5 metres).

3. Pick a channel on the back of the IR Receiver (16 channels/frequencies available) using the

dip switches. Use a pen or other pointed object to do so.

4. Connect the Power Adapter to the IR Receiver and insert this into the mains socket.

4.2 IR Transmitter

5. Place the IR Transmitter in the room/area in which the A/V equipment you wish to operate

is located.

6. Point the front of the IR Transmitter (with Marmitek logo) towards the equipment you wish

to operate (maximum 4 metres).

7. Pick the same channel on the back of the IR Transmitter (16 channels/frequencies available)

as you chose on the IR Receiver, using the dip switches.

8. Connect the Power Adapter to the IR Transmitter and insert this into the socket.

4.3 Range between Transmitter and Receiver depends on:

• The number of floors and walls through which the signal has to travel and the materials used.

• Other 433 MHz sources such as wireless headphones or wireless speakers can significantly

limit the range of the GigaControl450™. The best result is obtained if these sources are

switched off when using the GigaControl450™. The GigaControl450™ works fine with

wireless telephones.

• Some satellite receivers must be placed closer to the GigaControl450™ as a result of the

effect the two devices have on one another. Try the Transmitter at a range of locations in

order to obtain the best range.

5. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• In a few cases, the Receiver may be disrupted by interference and cannot, therefore, pick

up the signals it receives. If this is the case the red light will be continuously illuminated and

the Receiver must be relocated. This interference is caused by equipment in the vicinity such

as dimmers, energy-saving light bulbs, IR alarms and so on. Direct sunlight can also disrupt

the Receiver.

• GigaControl450™ does not work with remote controls which use High Frequency signals

(such as B&O)

7. OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES

IR EYE (Art. no. 09682)

The IR Eye extends the IR signal of your remote control in combination with the GigaControl450™.

Using the infrared extender, you can operate your A/V equipment even when it is in a closed

cupboard, out of sight or in another room.
