Owner's manual

Superabrasive L13-S-E is a one-disc floor grinding and polishing machine intended for grinding, polishing and buffing concrete, marble, granite, limestone and terrazzo surfaces with diamond tools. It was designed to grind/polish edges, corners, steps of stairs or difficult to reach surfaces. Additionally, the machine could be used for grinding wood floor surfaces. The machine has a halogen spotlight which enables the operator to work in darker areas. The frame handle is adjustable in height and allows the operator to work in a correct and safe posture.

3.OPERATION
PRELIMINARYCONTROLS
Inspecttheworkingareaasexplainedinthesafetyinstructions.Fordryuseconnectthevacuumextractorandensurethat
thevacuumhoseisclearanditwillfollowthemachineeasily.Pluginthemachineandmakesurethatthepowercordis
freetofollowtheworkingdirectionoftheLavina®13SE.
MOUNTINGTOOLS
Mountthetoolsonlyafterensuringthatthereisenoughdiamondbondmaterialleft.Besurethattheplatesarealways
cleanbeforemounting.WARNING:Securealwaysthe“Quickchange”padswiththesecurityplate(Fig.3.1),lockwiththetool
holderkey(Fig.3.2).DiamondtoolswithVelcroareattachedonfoamplateof13,2inch(Fig.3.3).Thefoamplatesare
mountedonthekeylock(butterfly).Alwaysusethetoolholderkey(Fig.3.3).

thebrushtothedesiredposition.
Theplasticrollsontheprotectingguardservetoprotectthewallfromdamages(Figure3.11).Bymovingtherollinthehole

STARTINGTHEMACHINE

workingspeed.Switchonthevacuumunit.Finally,holdthemachinefirmlyandpushthestartbutton(Fig.3.147).
OPERATINGTHEMACHINE
Workataconstantspeedallowingthetoolstimetoworkataspeedappropriateforthetools’gritsize.Avoidvibrations.Do
notstoptheLavina®13SEmachineinonespotwhilethetoolsarestillworkingbecausetheywillleavemarksonthefloor
surface.Checkthefloorsurfaceperiodicallytoensurethatdustisnotaccumulatingonthesurface,alsocheckregularlyif
yourvacuumworksproperly.
IncaseyouuseLavina®13SEasonediscmachineforfloormaintenanceguidethemachineinstraightlinesacrossthe
floor,andwitheachnewlineoverlapalittlebitofthepreviouslycompletedsurface.
STOPPINGTHEMACHINE
Thestoppingofthemachinemustbedonegraduallyuntilthemotorstops.Donotstopmovingthemachinebefore
arrestingthemotorasthetoolscoulddamagethesurface.Switchoffwiththeoffbutton(Fig.3.146).UsetheEmergency
button(Fig.3.148)onlyinemergencyoruseittoswitchthepowertotallyoff.

WEIGHTS
Superabrasiveoffersadditionalweightsforincreasingtheproductivityofthemachine
(Fig.4.1).Eachadditionalweightweighsabout5.5lbsor2,5kg.Eachindividualapplication,
typeandconditionofsurface,powercapacityoftheoutlet,etc.willdeterminethe
numberofweightsyoucanusewithouttrippingabreaker,Althoughwitamaximumof
four.Theweightstacksontocentralshaftabovethetooltsaroundtheouterbowl
(Fig.4.1).
Theadditionalweightdependsonthetools;itisnotalwayspossibletoaddweights.Some
toolsworktooaggressivelyandthemachinecanstop.

RECOMMENDEDTOOLS
QuickChangeSystemandToolingfeatureextremelyfastandconvenient
toolchanges,andalongtoollife,providingforgreatlongtermcostsavings.
TheQuickChangepadsareproducedinfourdifferentbondsforsuperhard,
hard,mediumandsoftconcrete,inavarietyofgritsizes,witheither1or2
buttons,whichallowsyoutocustomizetheaggressivenessofthecut.
Calibragrindingdiscs:ourpopularceramicbonddiscsaredesignedfortheremovalofdifficult
scratchesandtheysaveyouvaluabletimebyeliminatingtheneedformultiplepasseswith
metaltools.Theycanbeusedwetordry,andarebestforhardconcreteapplications.Theyare
withVelcroattachment.

CLEANING
Keepyourmachineclean.Cleaningthemachineonaregularbasiswillhelpdetectandsolve
potentialproblemsbeforetheycausedamagetothemachine.Mostimportantly,checkand
cleanthetoolplateconnections,powercordandplugs,vacuumhoses.
CHECKDAILY
AfteroperatingtheLavina®13SEmachine,theoperatorshouldconductavisualinspectionof
themachine.Anydefectshouldbesolvedimmediately.Payattentiontopowercords,plugs
andvacuumhoses,looseboltorscrews.
Toolholders:Buffersandspidersareconsumablesandmustbevisuallycheckeddailyand
replacedifneeded.SeeflangesordiscsaremountedlockedwellinplaceThekeylockholders
(butterflies)shouldbealsochecked.
Checktherubberbuffersandfixingoftheholders.Theflangeholdingthebuffers
(Fig.7.11)hastobefirmlyfixedtotheunit.Agapseentheremeansthatthereareloose
screwsfixingtheholder.Thescrewshastobetightenedimmediatelyforsafetyoperation.
Workingwithloosescrewsontheholdercouldalsocausebaddamagesonthemachine.Tighteningforceofthescrews
hastobe25...30N.m(18...22ft/lbs).
Itisveryimportanttocheckregularlythescrews(Fig.7.12),thatfixthe"Quickchange"holdertothesafetypart,so

Superabrasive L13-S-E is a one-disc floor grinding and polishing machine intended for grinding, polishing and buffing concrete, marble, granite, limestone and terrazzo surfaces with diamond tools. It was designed to grind/polish edges, corners, steps of stairs or difficult to reach surfaces. Additionally, the machine could be used for grinding wood floor surfaces. The machine has a halogen spotlight which enables the operator to work in darker areas. The frame handle is adjustable in height and allows the operator to work in a correct and safe posture.
